The effect of different concentrations of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on the nonisothermal crystallization kinetics, morphology, and mechanical properties of polypropylene (PP) matrix composites obtained by melt compounding was investigated by means of X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, optical and scanning electron microscopy, and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. Microscopy showed well‐dispersed nanotube ropes together with small and large aggregates. The modulus was found to increase by about 75% at a level of 0.5 wt % nanotubes. The SWNTs displayed a clear nucleating effect on the PP crystallization, favoring the α crystalline form rather than the β form. The crystallization kinetics analysis showed a significant increase in activation energy on incorporating nanotubes. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polypropylene microporous membranes were treated with plasma in a mixture of N2 and H2 (1:2 in volume). Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and ultra-violet (UV) spectra demonstrated the success of grafting amino groups. The density of the polar amino groups on the membrane surface is about 0.59 μmol/cm^2. The as-treated membranes were successively applied to the in situ synthesis of oligonucleotides and an average coupling yield was more than 98%. The surface feature of the treated membrane is suggested to be responsible for its advantage over a glass slide.  相似文献

The General Rate model has been developed and solved to describe protein adsorption in an expanded bed. The model takes into account axial and local variation of particle size distribution (PSD), external and intra-particle mass transfer resistances, and dispersion in liquid phase. The influence of PSD on breakthrough profiles has been analysed. The simulation results show that for a significantly high expanded bed the lower part of the breakthrough curve profiles, calculated for local particle size distribution (LPSD) and for axial average particle size distribution (APSD) are very similar. However, the upper part of breakthrough profiles calculated for LPSD approaches inlet concentration much more slowly than those calculated for APSD. The retention times of the lower part of uptake curves calculated with average particle diameter are constantly shorter than those obtained from LPSD. For the calculation of the dynamic capacity (DC), the LPSD can be replaced by APSD for large expanded bed heights. Using breakthrough profiles calculated for average particle size, DC values are constantly underestimated.  相似文献

Exhaled breath condensate is a promising, non-invasive, diagnostic sample obtained by condensation of exhaled breath. Starting from a historical perspective of early attempts of breath testing towards the contemporary state-of-the-art breath analysis, this review article focuses mainly on the progress in determination of non-volatile compounds in exhaled breath condensate. The mechanisms by which the aerosols/droplets of non-volatile compounds are formed in the airways are discussed with methodological consequences for sampling. Dilution of respiratory droplets is a major problem for correct clinical interpretation of the measured data and there is an urgent need for standardization of EBC. This applies also for collection instrumentation and therefore various commercial and in-house built devices are described and compared with regard to their design, function and collection parameters. The analytical techniques and methods for determination of non-volatile compounds as potential markers of oxidative stress and lung inflammation are scrutinized with an emphasis on method suitability, sensitivity and appropriateness. The relevance of clinical findings for each group of possible non-volatile markers of selected pulmonary diseases and methodological recommendations with emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration that is essential for future development into a fully validated clinical diagnostic tool are given.  相似文献

The flammability and the thermal oxidative degradation kinetics of expandable graphite (EG) with magnesium hydroxide (MH) in flame‐retardant polypropylene (PP) composites were studied by limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL‐94 test, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that EG is a good synergist for improving the flame retardancy of PP/MH composite and the effect is enhanced with decreasing EG particle size. The Kissinger method and Flynn‐Wall‐Ozawa method were used to determine the apparent activation energy (E) for degradation of PP and flame retarded PP composites. The data obtained from the TGA curve indicate that EG markedly increases the thermal degradation temperature of PP/MH composites and improves the thermal stability of the composites. The kinetic results show that the values of E for degradation of flame retarded PP composites is much higher than that of neat PP, especially PP/MH composites with suitable amount of EG, which indicates that the flame retardants used in this work have a great effect on the mechanisms of pyrolysis and combustion of PP.  相似文献

This study looked at establishing a correlation between the variable melt flow index (VMFI) values of molten polypropylene (PP) with different piston-load masses using a standard MFI analyser. The study was done using virgin PP and recycled PP obtained from recycling Pb-acid batteries. The study showed that the results would fit a suitable power function equation where the size of the exponent reflects the increase in flow characteristics of the polymer with increased piston-load mass. The established correlation was then compared to the average molecular weight distribution of virgin PP determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Good agreement was obtained for the range of grades of virgin PP samples that correlated well with the Mark-Houwink power law where the inverse of the MFI (1/MFI) would be proportional to the average molecular weight to the power of 3.4 (Mw3.4). GPC analysis cannot be effectively used to study recycled PP, where a number of factors can influence the melt flow properties such as fillers, impurities and the presence of polyethylene in the polymer matrix. Instead, a comparative understanding of the flow behaviour of recycled PP to that of virgin PP was done by using the VMFI method to possibly show the dissimilar polymer melt flow behaviour of using virgin and recycled PP material in injection moulding of new battery cases and lids, or when attempting to seal the lid to the battery case during manufacturing.  相似文献

Melamine salt of pentaerythritol phosphate kaolin (MPPK) was synthesized by the reaction of pentaerythritol phosphate with kaolin (K) and melamine. The structure of MPPK was confirmed by EDXS, 1H NMR, FTIR, and XRD. MPPK was blended with polypropylene (PP) at different loading levels. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results showed that MPPK improved the thermal stability of PP at high temperatures in all PP composites. Vertical burning rate test manifested that PP composites can achieve V0 at 20% and 25% MPPK loading levels. Cone calorimeter data exhibited that addition of 25% MPPK to PP reduced peak of heat release rate (pHRR) and total heat release (THR) by 86% and 76% and increased the char residue after test to 67%. The results of PP/25% MPPK composite were compared with the data obtained from PP containing 25% K and 25% of traditional intumescent flame retardant composed of melamine phosphate (MP), pentaerythritol (PE), and K. The outcomes indicated that MPPK was more efficient in flame retardancy than the other systems. The digital photographs and SEM images for char residue demonstrated that MPPK succeeded in forming cellular and coherent char layer on the PP surface. The main advantage of adding 25% MPPK to PP was its ability to preserve nearly the inner half of the sample without burning after cone calorimeter test.  相似文献

用热拉法制备了高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)/全同立构聚丙烯(iPP)共混物超拉伸纤维,研究了拉伸比对其热行为及力学行为的影响,随拉伸比增加,纤维中HDPE与iPP的结晶度增大,熔融温度升高、熔程变宽;纤维中HDPE与iPP的结晶度低于其纯组分,熔融湿度与熔程基本不受组分比的影响,随拉伸比增加,纤维的模量增高,以HDPE为主的纤维的拉伸强度增大,以iPP为主的纤维拉伸强度增至一定值后,不再随拉伸比增加而增大,并有下降趋势。  相似文献

本文从吸附-疏溶剂理论出发,根据热力学平衡观点,导出了一定固定相和流动相时,描述溶质保留行为与其分子结构关系的理论模型,并用之预测了饱和醇的保留值,获满意结果。从而表明本模型不但能用于同系物,而且亦可用于同分异构体及立体异构体保留行为的预测。  相似文献

利用拉伸时的晶型转变致孔特性,从β晶相聚丙烯经单向或双向拉伸制得了新型聚丙烯微孔膜、用等离子体接枝聚合技术接上了亲水性聚合物如聚丙烯酸、聚丙烯腈等。研究了等离子体处理时间、单体性质对得到的亲水膜的亲水性、离子/溶质渗透性的影响。发现接枝聚丙烯酸的双向拉伸膜对Na~+、Mg~(++),尿素有较大的渗透性,并具有优良的形状稳定性。  相似文献
