A small library of isocoumarin derivatives has been synthesized via K2CO3-catalyzed domino reactions of 2-carboxybenzaldehyde and ω-bromoacetophenones under microwave irradiation (MW). This strategy offers a simple, environmentally acceptable route to synthesize isocoumarin derivatives in moderate to excellent yields. One‐pot reactions to produce 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine (tpy) under mild conditions are described under both solventless and solvent‐assisted conditions. Tpy can be obtained in 32% yield in a simple one‐pot reaction, which can readily be scaled‐up to give large quantities of tpy. Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) was proved to be an efficient catalyst for Prins cyclization of styrenes and formaldehyde or acetaldehyde in water. A tandem dehydration/Prins cyclization reaction using a tertiary alcohol and formaldehyde as substrates proceeded very well by using DBSA as catalyst. Acetophenone, which is less reactive compared with styrene, can also react with formaldehyde when catalyzed by DBSA in water to afford 1,3-dioxan-5-ylphenylmethanone in good yield. 相似文献

Here we report the synthesis of all four stereoisomers of mefloquine. Mefloquine (Lariam) is an important anti‐malaria drug that is applied as a racemate of the erythro form. However, the (?)‐isomer induces psychosis, while the (+)‐enantiomer does not have this undesired side effect. There are six syntheses of which five lead to the wrong enantiomer without the authors of these syntheses noting that they had synthesized the wrong compound. At the same time physical chemistry investigations had assigned the absolute configuration correctly and the last enantioselective synthesis that took these results into account delivered the correct absolute configuration. Since various synthetic approaches failed to provide the correct stereoisomers in previous syntheses, we submit here a synthetic approach with a domino Sonogashira‐6π‐electrocyclisation as key step that confirmed synthetically the correct absolute configuration of all four isomers. 相似文献
