In this note, we show that given a closed, orientable genus-g surface S g , any hyperbolic toral automorphism has a positive power which induces a quadratic, orientable pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism on S g . To show this, we lift Anosov toral automorphisms through a ramified topological covering and present the lifted homeomorphism via a standard set of Lickorish twists. This construction provides a general method of producing pseudo-Anosov maps of closed surfaces with predetermined orientable foliations and quadratic dilatation. Since these lifted automorphisms have orientable foliations, this construction is a sort of converse to that of Franks and Rykken [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 1999], who established that one can associate to a quadratic pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism with oriented unstable foliation a hyperbolic toral automorphism.  相似文献

All C*-algebras of sections of locally trivial C* -algebra bundles over ∏i=1sLki(ni) with fibres Aw Mc(C) are constructed, under the assumption that every completely irrational noncommutative torus Aw is realized as an inductive limit of circle algebras, where Lki (ni) are lens spaces. Let Lcd be a cd-homogeneous C*-algebra over whose cd-homogeneous C*-subalgebra restricted to the subspace Tr × T2 is realized as C(Tr) A1/d Mc(C), and of which no non-trivial matrix algebra can be factored out.The lenticular noncommutative torus Lpcd is defined by twisting in by a totally skew multiplier p on Tr+2 × Zm-2. It is shown that is isomorphic to if and only if the set of prime factors of cd is a subset of the set of prime factors of p, and that Lpcd is not stablyisomorphic to if the cd-homogeneous C*-subalgebra of Lpcd restricted to some subspace LkiLki (ni) is realized as the crossed product by the obvious non-trivial action of Zki on a cd/ki-homogeneous C*-algebra over S2ni+1 for ki an integer greater than  相似文献

The authors consider the extended Hecke groups H(λq) generated by T(z) = -1 / z, S(z) = -1/(z + λq,) and R(z) = 1 / z with A, = 2 cos(π/q) for q≥3 an integer. In this paper, the even subgroup He(λq), the second commutator subgroup H (λq) and the principal congruence subgroups Hp(λq) of the extended Hecke groups H(λq) are studied. We obtain the classification of two-orbit varieties, i.e. the normal complete complex algebraic varieties on which a reductive complex algebraic group acts with two orbits. The graded Hecke algebra for a finite Weyl group is intimately related to the geometry of the Springer correspondence. A construction of Drinfeld produces an analogue of a graded Hecke algebra for any finite subgroup of GL(V). This paper classifies all the algebras obtained by applying Drinfeld's construction to complex reflection groups. By giving explicit (though nontrivial) isomorphisms, we show that the graded Hecke algebras for finite real reflection groups constructed by Lusztig are all isomorphic to algebras obtained by Drinfeld's construction. The classification shows that there exist algebras obtained from Drinfeld's construction which are not graded Hecke algebras as defined by Lusztig for real as well as complex reflection groups. LetA be a real or complex Banach algebra and assume that is an action of a finite groupG onA by means of continuous automorphisms. To such a finite covariant system (A, G, ), we associate an Abelian groupK(A, G, ). We obtain some classical exact sequences for an algebraA and a closed invariant idealI. We also compute the group in a few important special cases. Doing so, we relate our new invariant to the classicalK 0 andK 1 of a Banach algebra and to theK-theory of 2-graded Banach algebras. Finally, we obtain a result that gives a close relationship of our groupK(A, G, ) with theK-theory of the crossed productA G. In particular, we prove a six-term exact sequence involving our groupK(A, G, ) and theK-groups ofA G. In this way, we hope to contribute to the well-known problem of finding theK-theory of the crossed productA G in the case of an action of a finite group.  相似文献
