Polymer chain conformation of copolymers with different monomer size: C NMR spectroscopy and MALS study

Copolymer composition, distribution and molecular size of the comonomer influence the final properties of polymer materials. Such influence can be followed from the effect on the chain conformation in solution determined from the scaling law between radius of gyration and molecular weight.     

Volumetric behaviour of the (2,2,4-trimethylpentane + methylbenzene + butan-1-ol) ternary system and its binary sub-systems within the temperature range (298.15–328.15) K

Densities and speeds of sound of the (2,2,4-trimethylpentane + methylbenzene + butan-1-ol) ternary system as well as all its binary sub-systems were measured at four temperatures, namely 298.15 K, 308.15 K, 318.15 K, and 328.15 K at atmospheric pressure by a vibrating-tube densimeter DSA 5000. The binary (isooctane + toluene) system was studied previously. Excess quantities (molar volume, adiabatic compressibility, and isobaric thermal expansivity) of the mixtures studied were calculated from the experimental densities and speed of sounds. The excess molar volume data were correlated using the Redlich–Kister equation. Both the positive and S-shaped excess molar volume curves were found for the systems studied. The excess molar volumes versus concentration of binary systems differed in the shape and temperature dependence. The experimental binary data were compared with literature data. The experimental excess molar volumes were analyzed by means of the Extended Real Associated Solution (ERAS) model. The experimental data and the ERAS model can help to estimate real behaviour of the systems studied.     

Comparison of methods to enhance flame ionization detector (FID) signals in gas chromatography

The performances of some numerical methods to improve the signal to noise ratio are compared and applied to enhance noisy signals obtained in gas chromatography with capillary columns and a flame Ionization detector. Several methods have been considered: cutoffs In the Fourier transform of the recorded signal; real time numerical filtering; theoretical model curve fitting; and the correlation of a chromatogram recorded from a pseudorandomly injected sample with the pseudorandom injection function. Numerical real time filtering is shown to be the most convenient method when the main periodic component of the noise has been determined by Fourier analysis.

Analytical chemistry often involves a large amount of experimental data, and the reliability and accuracy of the experimental results are related to whether the original data can be properly recorded and calculated. In this paper, starting from the importance of significant figures, analyzing the frequently encountered problems related to the significant figures in teaching process, and giving some solutions, we try to help students to learn and master the concept of significant figures, rounding off numerical values, rule of operation and data processing.     

基于LabWindows/CVI的导弹舵机测控系统设计

舵机是导弹控制系统的重要执行机构,为实现对电动及气动多种型号导弹舵机性能的测试,设计开发了一种基于LabWindows/CVI虚拟仪器的测控系统。介绍了该测控系统硬件组成和软件结构流程,软件设计过程中充分利用多线程、数据库等技术,准确快速完成舵机自动化性能测试。应用结果表明:该舵机测控系统工作稳定,测试精度和自动化程度高,满足舵机试验测试精度和技术指标要求,为舵机的性能研究和维修维护提供了良好的测试环境。     

Geographic Characterization of Leccinum rugosiceps by Ultraviolet and Infrared Spectral Fusion

Leccinum rugosiceps is an edible mushroom belonging to genus Leccinum of Boletaceae. Its fruiting bodies are richer in nutrients than many vegetables and fruit. The model of support vector machine was established for the discrimination of L. rugosiceps from regions based on rapid and low-cost ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopies. The mid-level data fusion was performed by support vector machine. Compared to a single spectroscopic technique, mid-level data fusion provided higher accuracy by selecting the most significant variance from data matrixes based on partial least squares discriminant analysis. The accuracy of the classification of samples in the calibration and test sets were 85.00 and 94.74%, higher than separate measurements by ultraviolet or infrared spectroscopy. This approach has applications for authentication and quality assessment of L. rugosiceps.     

Automatic peak detection in chromatography

Summary A modified derivative of chromatographic signal is proposed for detection of the appearance of a new peak. The method is shown to yield peak areas of good precision even in very noisy systems.This paper is dedicated to Dr. Leslie Ettre on his 60th birthday.
