New p-tert-butyl thiacalix[4]arenes functionalized with morpholide and pyrrolidide groups at the lower rim in cone, partial cone, and 1,3-alternate conformations were synthesized, and their receptor properties for monocharged cations (alkali metal and silver ions) were studied using the picrate extraction method and dynamic light scattering (DLS). To evaluate the ability of the p-tert-butyl thiacalix[4]arene derivatives to recognize metal ions, liquid-liquid extraction of their picrate salts has been carried out in a mutually saturated water-dichloromethane system. The degrees of extraction and the extraction constants for monocharged metal cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Cs+) have been determined. The ability of the systems, consisting of host and guest molecules, to self-assembly was proved by DLS using a Zetasizer Nano ZS particle size analyzer. It was shown that all the investigated thiacalix[4]arenes are able to form nanoscale particles with silver cations under the experimental conditions. The pyrrolidide derivative in the cone conformation showed both self-association and aggregation processes with lithium cations. The degree of extraction for all the investigated systems that formed nanoscale aggregates in the organic phase was more than 67% and the extraction constants, log Kex determined by the picrate extraction method, more than 6.  相似文献

Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is a soft globular protein that undergoes conformational changes through several identified transition steps in the pH range 2–13.5. The ability to change conformation makes BSA capable of complexing different ligands from fatty acids to cations or drugs and carries them in the bloodstream. Microcalorimetric titration of BSA with NaOH solution was performed to measure the enthalpy of conformational changes. Two exothermic enthalpy changes were found in the course of the titration between pH 3 and 9.5, which can be identified with the E–F, and the F–N transitions. The enthalpy change at pH 3.5 (transition from the E to the F form of BSA, folding of intra-domain helices in domain I) is independent of the protein concentration. The second transition (F–N, folding of domain III) was observed at pH 4.8 for the 0.1% BSA solution, but it shifted to higher pH values as the protein concentration increased to 0.2% and 0.3%. The tightening of the protein structure with increasing pH was verified measuring intrinsic fluorescence of tryptophan residues. At even higher pH value, pH 10.5, fluorescence measurements revealed protein expansion. The BSA conformational changes were also measured by dynamic light scattering. The hydrodynamic diameter was smaller at the i.e.p. of BSA (5–7 nm at pH ~5) and larger at the two ends of the pH range (17.5 nm at pH 2 and 8.3 nm at pH 10).  相似文献

Multiarm star triblock terpolymers were obtained by using two different click reactions sequentially: Cu(I) catalyzed azide–alkyne and Diels–Alder. The synthetic strategy is described as follows: (poly(methyl methacrylate))n‐(polystyrene)m‐poly(divinyl benzene)) ((PMMA)n‐(PS)m‐polyDVB) multiarm star diblock copolymer was first obtained from an azide–alkyne click reaction of (alkyne‐PS)m‐polyDVB multiarm star polymer with α‐anthracene‐ω‐azide PMMA (anth‐PMMA‐N3), followed by a Diels–Alder click reaction of the anthracene groups at the star periphery with α‐maleimide poly (tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA‐MI) or α‐maleimide poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG‐MI) leading to target (PtBA)k‐(PMMA)n‐(PS)m‐polyDVB and (PEG)p‐(PMMA)n‐(PS)m‐polyDVB multiarm star triblock terpolymers. The hydrodynamic diameter of individual multiarm star triblock terpolymers were measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS) to be ~24–27 nm in consistent with the atomic force microscopy (AFM) images on silicon substrates. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Interpolyelectrolyte complex (IPEC) dispersions were prepared from chitosan and poly(sodium acrylate), NaPMA, by mixing their solutions, at different carboxyl-to-aminium molar ratios, rCA. Gyration radius was determined by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) and showed that, as rCA was increased, IPEC dimensions decreased and reached a minimum at rCA?=?0.75, which was considered the ratio at which IPEC cluster dimensions were minimum, following collapse, phase segregation, nucleation, and growth of larger particles. Pair distance distributions, P(r), became narrower up to rCA?=?0.75, increasing its width from this point. Relaxation-related parameters from dynamic light scattering (DLS) intensity correlation functions (ICFs) identified three main relaxation processes. The fast process, related to free polyelectrolyte molecules random motion disappeared as rCA, was increased. The other two relaxation processes also were a function of rCA and presented marked changes at rCA?=?0.75. At the same value of rCA, the energy of activation for the average relaxation rate showed the occurrence of a clear change in the nature of IPEC-related interactions. As hydrodynamic diameter, determined by DLS, was much larger than the gyration radius determined by SAXS, IPEC particles could be described as being composed by a core, rich in segregated, insoluble material, enveloped by IPEC soluble clusters, possibly in the form of water-rich gels.  相似文献

This work describes the formation of water-soluble hydrophilic nanoparticles from biosynthetic poly-γ-glutamic acid (PGA). Nanoparticles were formed by cross-linking using 2,2′-(ethylenedioxy) diethylamine in the presence of water-soluble carbodiimide. The structure was determined by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and the particle size by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), and dynamic light-scattering (DLS) measurements. The results from TEM, SEC, and DLS reveal that the particle size depends on the ratio of cross-linking. Particle size values measured by TEM were between 20 and 90 nm. Formation of cross-linked nanoparticles results in a dramatic viscosity drop compared to the viscosity of the corresponding solution of the parent PGA. The viscosity and DLS experiments disclose an intriguing interplay between intrachain and interchain cross-linking of the polymer chains, depending on the cross-linker density and polymer concentration. The SEC measurements show that the retention time of the major portion of particles increase because of the higher cross-linking ratio. At moderate cross-linker concentration, intramolecular cross-linking is the dominant process, whereas at higher cross-linker densities, the interpolymer cross-linking plays an important role. As a result, large clusters are also formed.  相似文献

应用近红外光谱法、动态光散射法及透射电镜扫描法,研究了pH和NaCl浓度对丝胶蛋白聚集微观结构的影响。近红外光谱显示丝胶蛋白在酰氨Ⅰ带1 700~1 600 cm-1附近有较强吸收峰。通过zeta电势法测定丝胶蛋白的表观等电点为pH 3.7。应用动态光散射法测定了在不同pH和NaCl浓度下丝胶蛋白颗粒的分散粒径,pH 4及高NaCl浓度时,丝胶蛋白聚集颗粒粒径大且分散系数大;pH 3或pH 8及低NaCl浓度时丝胶蛋白聚集颗粒粒径和分散系数相对较小。采用透射扫描电镜观察丝胶蛋白在pH 3或pH 8条件下聚集形成松散的松针状微观结构,在pH 4或者高NaCl浓度下会聚集形成相对紧密的微观结构。pH 4时可以观察到丝胶蛋白的椭圆形单聚体大小约为(60±6)nm(n=10)。并探讨了静电斥力、氢键和范德华吸引力对丝胶蛋白微观结构形成的影响,为丝胶蛋白作为生物材料的应用提供了理论依据。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Dynamic light scattering (DLS) is a useful tool for the study of the solution-based behavior of colloids and molecular assemblies. The aim of this methods paper is to provide perspective on how this technique can be used by supramolecular chemists. As this technique is not extensively used within the field, we also provide a historical background of its development, summarize data interpretation and the strengths and limitations of the technique, and provide a perspective on some of the important features for supramolecular chemists that can be found in an instrument.  相似文献

The effect of addition of 3-methyl-1-pentylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([C5mim][BF4]) on the micellization of a nonionic surfactant, Triton X-100 (TX-100), has been investigated. The techniques employed to study the aggregation behavior are fluoremetry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the concentration range covered is 0–2?wt% [C5mim][BF4]. The probes, viz. pyrene and pyrene-1-carboxaldehyde (PyCHO), have been used for fluorescence analysis. According to the findings, the addition of pentyl-chained ionic liquid (IL) to aqueous TX-100 results in a dramatic increase in critical micelle concentration (cmc) decrease in micellar size, and aggregation number pointing toward an overall “unfavorable” aggregation process.  相似文献

Copper(II) oxide reacted with hydrazine in the presence of fluoroalkyl end-capped oxime-blocked isocyanato cooligomer containing adamantyl segments at 90 °C for 30 min in ethylene glycol, and the deprotecting reaction of the cooligomer in the resulting product at 120 °C for 15 min was found to afford the colloidal red-brown colored cross-linked fluorinated cooligomer/Cu nanocomposites, which were stabilized by fluoroalkyl end-capped cooligomer containing benzotriazole segments. On the other hand, the corresponding cross-linked fluorinated cooligomer possessing no adamantyl segments could not afford the copper nanocomposites under similar conditions. Dynamic light scattering measurements and TEM photography of these cross-linked fluorinated cooligomer/Cu composites showed that these composites are nanometer size-controlled very fine nanoparticles. These fluorinated Cu nanocomposites have a good dispersibility and stability in mixed solvents of ethylene glycol and methanol for two weeks under air atmosphere conditions. In addition, these fluorinated Cu nanocomposite powders have been found to be stable for more than three months.  相似文献
