Some Conversions of Thiazoline Carboxylic Acid Esters

We have carried out solvolysis of the previously described ethyl esters of 3-methyl(aryl)-4-methyl-2-thioxothiazoline-5-carboxylic acids, leading to the corresponding acids without breaking down the heterocycle. We synthesized a series of novel esters from the latter by treatment with dimethyl sulfate or reactive halides. Of these, only in the case of the ethyl ester of 3,4-dimethyl-2-thioxothiazoline-5-carboxylic acid did we obtain the hydrazinolysis product (the hydrazide), from which we synthesized novel hydrazones by treatment with aldehydes and ketones.     

Synthesis and structure of novel derivatives of thieno[2,3-b]thiocine. An unusual product of intramolecular cycloaddition of 2-homomethallylthio-5-methyl-3-thiophenecarbonitrile oxide

9-Methyl-3,3a,4,5-tetrahydro-6H-thieno[2,3-b]thiocino[4,5-c]isoxazole and 9-hydroxyimino-2-methyl-7-methylene-6, 7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-thieno[2,3-b]thiocine have been prepared for the first time by the oxidation of 2--alkenylthio-3-thiophenecarbaldoximes with NaOCl. X-ray structural investigations of thieno[2,3-b]thiocine and 2-homomethallylthio-5-methyl-3-thiophenecarbaldoxime have been carried out.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Development of a Novel Approach to Formation of a Pyrrole Ring: Synthesis of 2,3,5-Substituted 1-[2-(Vinyloxy)ethyl]pyrroles

Reaction of 2-(vinyloxy)ethylisothiocyanate with unsaturated carbanions generated in situ from propargyl ethers and amines when treated with superbases, after S-alkylation and cyclization of the adducts in the presence of CuBr, leads to the previously unknown 2,3,5-substituted 1-[2-(vinyloxy)ethyl]pyrroles.     

Structure of 2-Amino-4-phenyl-9H-pyrimido[4,5-b]indole and Its Nitrate in Crystal and Solution

The crystal structures of 2-amino-4-phenyl-9H-pyrimido[4,5-b]indole and its nitrate were determined by XRD analysis. ¹³C NMR, XRD, and quantum-chemical data indicate that the acid proton is predominantly localized at the N(3) atom of the pyrimidine ring in both isolated nitrate molecules and in molecules in crystal and solution.     

Uncoupled metabolism stimulated by chemical uncoupler and oxic-settling-anaerobic combined process to reduce excess sludge production

The effects of three uncoupled metabolic systems (conventional activated sludge process with the addition of 3,3′,4′,5-tetrachlorosalicylanilide [TCS], oxic-settling-anaerobic [OSA] process modified by insertion of a sludge-holding tank in the sludge return line, and TCS and OSA combined process) on reducing excess sludge production were studied. Compared with the control conventional activated sludge process, the most effective system was the combined process, which could reduce excess sludge production by 46.90%. The 180-d operation results confirmed that TCS is an effective chemical uncoupler in reducing the sludge yield but that it had an adverse effect on substrate removal capability, effluent nitrogen concentration, and sludge settleability. The OSA process decreased excess sludge production by only 26% but had less adverse effect on effluent quality and could improve sludge settleability. The effluent total phosphorous concentration of the three systems was slightly lower than of the control unit. Microbial populations were monitored by both microscopic and molecular biologic analysis method (polymerase chain reaction [PCR]-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis [DGGE]). The presence of TCS caused metazoans to disappear and decreased the number and activity of protozoa. PCR amplification of 16S rRNA and sequent DGGE analysis found a shift in the diversity of the predominant species. The results imply that OSA combined with the chemical uncoupler process may effectively reduce excess sludge yield and not affect process performance significantly.     

Chloroaqua Complexes [M3S4(H2O)9?xClx](4?x)+ (M = Mo, W; x = 4, 6, 7) and Their Supramolecular Compounds with Cucur[8]uril

Compounds of trigonal cluster chloroaqua complexes with cucurbit[8]uril were synthesized by slowly evaporating HCl solutions of chalcogenides heterometallic cubane cluster complexes of molybdenum and tungsten with cucurbit[8]uril in air; the complexes were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis: (H₃O)₈[Mo₃S₄(H₂O)_2.5Cl_6.5]₂Cl(PdCl₄)·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)· 29H₂O (a = 13.3183(17) Å, b = 13.7104(18) Å, c = 18.225(3) Å; α = 80.263(3)°, β = 77. 958(3)°, γ = 87.149(4)°, V = 3207.4(7) ų, space group P , Z = 1, ρ(calc) = 1.900 g/cm³), (H₃O)₄ [Mo₃S₄(H₂O)₃Cl₆]₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)₃·68H₂O (a = 21.413(6) Å, c = 49.832(10) Å; γ = 120°, V = 19788(8) ų, space group R , Z = 3, ρ(calc) = 1.695 g/cm³), (H₃O)₆ [Mo₃S₄(H₂O)₃Cl₆]₂Cl₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)·12H₂O (a = 15.881(2) Å, b = 17.191(2) Å, c = 23.276(4) Å; β = 98.865(15)°, V = 6278.7(15) ų, space group P2₁/c, Z = 2, ρ(calc) = 1.638 g/cm³), [W₃S₄(H₂O)₅Cl₄]₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)₃·35H₂O (a = 21.038(3) Å; α = 61.20(1)°, V = 6762.0(14) ų, space group R , Z = 1, ρ(calc) = 1.582 g/cm³). 以（ｉ－Ｂｕ）３Ａｌ为引发剂研究了２－氢－２－氧－１，３，２二氧五环磷酸酯，２－氢－２－氧－１，３，２－二氧六联药物载体，要用单层骨架片、双层骨架片和夹心片 药方式，对抗肿瘤药物５－氟尿嘧啶进行了控制释放，获得了较好的释药效果。     

Thermodynamic Insight into the Origin of a Calix[n]arene-[60]fullerene Interaction and its Application to a Porphyrin-[60]fullerene Energy Transfer System

The calixarene-fullerene interaction,which causes only a slight change in the absorptionspectra, has been substantiated by calorimetricmeasurements: the H° values arecomparable with those obtained from the associationconstants estimated by a spectroscopic method. Furthermore, we determined the association constantbetween homooxacalix[3]arene and [60]fullerenederivatives with a porphyrin moiety by fluorescencespectra.

A concise synthesis of nornitidine via nickel- or palladium-catalyzed annulation

A concise method to synthesize benzo[c]phenanthridine alkaloid, nornitidine, was developed utilizing nickel- or palladium-catalyzed iminoannulation of an internal alkyne. The advantages of this strategy included readily available starting materials, inexpensive reagents, short reaction steps, and good yields.
