Synthesis under Micromave Irradition and Crystal Structure of 4''-Acetylbenzo-15 -crown-5thiosemicarbazone

The title compound is a bifunctional receptors including a thiourea group and a crown ether ring. Due to many possible potentials as a new class of reagents for membrane transports,ion-selective electrodes as well as reaction catalysts, the design and synthesis of bifunctional receptors for simultaneous binding of cations and anions is of ongoning interest in srprarnolecular chemistry1-5. In bifunctional receptors, the binding sites for anions and cations are covalently linked so as to exhibit allosteric or cooperative complexation where the binding affinity for anions(cations)is modified as a result of the cation(anion) complexation.Literature[6] reported that the ability of the thiourea group to bind anions is significantly enhanced when Na+ is bound to the crown moiety. To date, however only a few receptors of this class have been reported.6-8In this paper, we report an improved procedure under microwave irradiation that gives higher yields of title compound and needs fewer reaction times than traditional method.The structure of this compound was determined by IR ,element analysis and X-ray analysis.Scheme 1 The reaction equationThe crystal belongs to triclinic crystal system, P-1 space group, a=0.9547(0)nm, b=1.3637(3)nm,c=1.6029(3)nm, α =75.33(3) , β =83.62(3) , γ =70.99(3) ,Z=4,Dc=1.335g/cm3,F(000)=816,R1= 0.0557 ,wR2=0.1281. It is assembled into a three-dimensionalsupramolecule by intermolecular hydrogen bonds.     

Synthesis of 5,6-Dihydro-OSW-1 and Its Antitumor Activities

5,6-Dihydro-OSW-1 (1) was synthesized following our previous procedure for the total synthesis of OSW-1. This compound demonstrated slightly stronger potency than that of OSW-1 against the growth of cancer cells.     

Synthesis of New 13-O-Acylavermectin Bl Aglycones

Six new 13-O-acylavermectin Bl aglycones(3-8) were synthesized from avermectin B1 aglycone and their bioactivities were evaluated against Spodoptera exigua, Spodoptera eridania, Tetranychus urticae and Aphis fabae.     

Olefin terpolymerizations. II. 4-vinylcyclohexene and cyclooctadiene

4-Vinylcyclohexene (VCH) and cyclooctadiene (COD) were investigated as termonomers in EPDM (ethylene/propylene/diene) synthesis by using rac-ethylenebis (1-η⁵-indenyl) zir-conium dichloride ( 1 ) as a catalyst precursor. Homopolymerizations of VCH, vinylcycloh-exane and cyclohexene were compared. The parameter K_πκ_p, which is the apparent rate constant for Ziegler-Natta polymerization, is about the same for VCH and vinylcyclohexanebut is 10 times smaller for cyclohexene. Therefore, the linear olefinic double bond is more active than the cyclic internal double bond. VCH reduces ethylene polymerization rate but not propylene polymerization rate in copolymerizations. In terpolymerizations, VCH tends to suppress ethylene incorporation especially at elevated polymerization temperature and Lowers the polymer MW by about two-fold. COD has very low activity as a termonomer. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Titanium nanocarbides: Synthesis and modeling

The present state of research on the production and modeling of nanostructures based on titanium carbide-a typical representative of an extensive class of carbides of d-and f-metals-is reviewed. Methods for the synthesis of various Ti-C nanostructures (molecular clusters, nanocrystallites, nanospheres, nanofibers, nanowires) are examined, and their morphology, atomic structure, and known physicochemical characteristics are described. Theoretical models of the atomic structure and properties of new types of nanostructures in the titanium-carbon system (endo-and exohedral titanofullerenes, “hybrid” structures based on carbon nanotubes, the so-called peapods, nanocables, and a number of others) and the prospects for their application as components of nanoceramics, hydrogen accumulators, materials for spintronics, etc. are discussed. __________ Translated from Teoreticheskaya i éksperimental’naya Khimiya, Vol. 43, No. 1, pp. 1–23, January–February, 2007.     

Stability control of the electrooptic effect with new maleimide copolymers containing photoreactive tricyanopyrrolidene‐based chromophores

New photocrosslinkable maleimide copolymers have been synthesized by the attachment of a tricyanopyrrolidene‐based chromophore. The 2‐(3‐cyano‐4‐(2‐{4‐[hexyl‐(6‐hydroxy‐hexyl)‐amino]‐phenyl}‐vinyl)‐5‐oxo‐1‐{4‐[4‐(3‐oxo‐3‐phenyl‐propenyl)‐ phenoxy]‐butyl}‐1,5‐dihydro‐pyrrol‐2‐ylidene)‐malononitrile chromophore exhibits nonlinear optical activity and contains a chalcone moiety that is sensitive to UV light (λ = 330–360 nm) for crosslink formation. The maleimide monomers have also been functionalized with chalcone moieties. The resultant copolymers exhibit great processability, and one of them shows a maximum electrooptic coefficient of 90 pm/V at 1300 nm. We could control the thermal stability of the electrooptic coefficient with the newly synthesized photoreactive copolymers successfully. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Structure of norbornene-fused 3,1-oxazine double cycloadducts

Pentacyclic isoxazolines were obtained by the cycloaddition of benzonitrile oxide to norbornene-azetidinone-fused 3,1-oxazines. The constitutions of two of the isomers obtained, and the configurations and conformations of all products, were determined by means of ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy and DNOE experiments.     

Synthesis and structures of nitroxyalkyl methylphosphonates

The reactions of ethylene glycol mononitrate and glycerol 1,3-dinitrate with methylphosphonic dichloride afforded new nitroxyalkyl methylphosphonates.     

A ring-closing metathesis approach to a synthesis of the B ring of eleutherobin

A short and efficient RCM route is reported for the construction of the key nine-membered B ring of eleutherobin starting from the readily available 1,2,5,6-diisopropylidene-d-glucose.
