Sulfonated cardo polyetherketone (SPEK-C) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) blend membranes were prepared by solution casting method and used in pervaporation (PV) dehydration of acetic acid. The membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle meter. The results show that thermal crosslinking occurred to the membrane under high temperature annealing. The effective d-spacing (inter-segmental spacing) decreased with PVA content decreasing. The hydrophilicity of the blend membrane increased with SPEK-C content increasing. Swelling and sorption experiments show that the swelling degree of the blend membrane increased, however both the sorption and diffusion selectivities decreased with increasing PVA content. The diffusion selectivity is higher than the sorption selectivity. This suggests that PV dehydration of acetic acid is dominated by the diffusion process. The pervaporation separation index (PSI) of the membrane increases with increasing PVA content and arrives at a maximum when the SPEK-C/PVA ratio is 3/2, then decreases with further addition of PVA. The membrane has an encouraging separation performance with a flux of 492 g m−2 h−1 and separation factor of 59.3 at 50 °C at the feed water content 10 wt%.  相似文献

PVA based hydrogel was synthesised using, as crosslinking agent, trisodium trimetaphosphate (STMP) and its morphology was modified inducing a microporous structure to obtain potential substitutes for cartilage tissue. The hydrogel was characterised by Infrared Spectroscopy combined with Time of flight mass spectrometry (ToF‐SIMS) that confirmed the successful occurrence of crosslinking reaction, the hyphotised crosslinking arm and its homogeneous distribution. The mechanical spectra of the fully hydrated samples confirmed covalently crosslinked systems with a rheological behaviour similar to that of tibial cartilage. Further analysis in terms of water content measurements, thermal stability and cytotoxicity confirmed the applicability of such a hydrogel as cartilage substitute. A novel flexible free-standing films of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/silica polymer network dispersed cholesteric liquid crystals (CLC) have been prepared by the sol-gel process. In the hydrolysis of silicon alkoxides tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) processes, the silica having -OH with the -OH groups on PVA formed polymer networks with Si-O-C bonds by dehydration. The cholesteric liquid crystals were incorporated into the networks. The free-standing films were obtained by the spin-coating method. In order to improve the compatibility and microstructure of the cholesteric liquid crystals with PVA/silica polymer networks, the amphiphilic compound of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (HDTMA) was introduced into the forming film solutions. Effects of the different ratios of raw materials on the structure of films were investigated. The microscopic morphology of free-standing films and the uniform dispersion of CLCs in the films have been characterized by polarizing optical microscopy (POM), the field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer and atomic force microscope (AFM). The free-standing films exhibiting excellent CLC droplets dispersion, mechanical stability, and good flexibility could be useful for flexible displays, switchable optical elements and smart windows.  相似文献

The specific interaction strength of novolak-type phenolic resin blended with three similar polymers [i.e., poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)] were characterized by means of glass transition temperature behavior and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The interassociation formed within phenolic blends with the addition of a modifier not only overcomes the effect of self-association of the phenolic upon blending, but also increases the strength of phenolic blend. The strength of interassociation within the phenolic blend is the function of the hydrogen bonding group of a modifier, in increasing order, is phenolic/PVA, phenolic/PEG, and phenolic/PEO blend, corresponding to the result of “q” value in the Kwei equation. The FTIR result is in agreement with the inference of Tg behavior. In addition, the fact that the specific strength of hydrogen bonding of hydroxyl–hydroxyl is stronger than that of hydroxyl–ether can also be concluded. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and chitosan polymer blends have been prepared by using gamma irradiation. Chitosan was used in the blends to prevent microbiological growth, such as bacteria and fungi on the polymer. The physical properties of the blend, such as gelation, water absorption, and mechanical properties were examined to evaluate the possibility of its application for wound dressing. A mixture of PVA/chitosan, with different ratios, were exposed to gamma irradiation doses of 20, 30, 50 KGy, to evaluate the effect of irradiation dose on the physical properties of the blend. It was found that the gel fraction increases with increasing irradiation dose and PVA concentration in the blend. Swelling percent increased as the composition of chitosan increased in the blend. The PVA/chitosan blend has a water content in the range between 40% and 60% and water absorption between 60% and 100%. The water vapor transmission rate value (WVRT) of the PVA/chitosan blend varies between 50% and 70%. The examination of the microbe penetration shows that the prepared blend can be considered as a good barrier against microbes. Thus, the PVA/chitosan blend showed satisfactory properties for use as a wound dressing.  相似文献

In this paper, a broad overview on the applications of different carbon-based nanomaterials, including nanodiamonds, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon nanofibers, carbon nanocones-disks and nanohorns, as well as their functionalized forms, in sample preparation is provided. Particular attention has been paid to graphene because many papers regarding its application in this research field are becoming available. The distinctive properties, derivatization methods and application techniques of these materials were summarized and compared. According to their research status and perspective, these nanomaterials were classified in four groups (I: graphene and carbon nanotubes; II: carbon nanofibers; III: fullerenes; and IV: nanodiamonds, carbon nanocones/disks and carbon nanohorns) and characteristics and future trends of every group were discussed.  相似文献

采用硼酸与聚乙烯醇化学交联方法制备了聚乙烯醇(PVA)水凝胶,通过对PVA水凝胶的弹性与溶胀性能的研究,优选出交联剂硼酸与聚乙烯醇的最佳配比量;探究温度对PVA水凝胶弹性的影响以及时间、矿化度、温度对PVA水凝胶溶胀特性的影响。结果表明,随硼酸用量的增加,PVA水凝胶的溶胀率与弹性模量值都表现出先增大后减小的特征,当硼酸:PVA=10%时,PVA水凝胶的弹性和溶胀特性均最佳;PVA水凝胶在水溶液中溶胀率随时间的增长逐渐增大,40h后基本达到溶胀平衡;随矿化度的增大而减少,耐矿化度强,在10%盐度水中还能膨胀1倍,适用于高矿化度油藏;耐温性强,随温度的增大变化不大,适用于油藏温度。  相似文献

We have studied the magnetic properties of an Fe(II) spin-crossover complex near its high spin/low spin (HS/LS) phase transition in the emulsion polymerization of trifluoroethylmethacrylate (TFEMA) using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as a protective colloid, in comparison with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Morphological analysis was used to establish that the nanodispersed spin-crossover complex was incorporated into the cores of polymer particles covered with PVA shells. The obvious bi-stability of the HS/LS phase transition was considered by the identification of multiplet states such as the triplet (S = 1) and quintet (S = 2) states, and the paramagnetic state (S = 1/2), by noting a gradual shift of g-value anisotropy in the electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum at 5 K. This was thought to have arisen from the exchange interaction as a Jahn–Teller effect in the emulsion particles. Chemical modifications such as ligand substitution, and the nature of the central metal atom in the emulsion particle, especially influenced the HS/LS phase transition.  相似文献

Summary: Copper/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanocables have been successfully obtained by electrospinning a PVA‐protected copper nanoparticle solution. The molar ratio of copper ions to PVA (in terms of VA repeating units) plays an important role in the formation of copper/PVA nanocables. The average diameter of the copper cores and PVA shells is about 100 and 400 nm, respectively. The structures of the copper/PVA nanocables are characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and their formation is confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
