Living polymers are formed by reversible association of primary units (unimers). Generally the chain statistical weight involves
a factor σ < 1 suppressing short chains in comparison with free unimers. Living polymerization is a sharp thermodynamic transition
for σ ≪ 1 which is typically the case. We show that this sharpness has an important effect on the kinetics of living polymerization
(one-dimensional association). The kinetic model involves i) the unimer activation step (a transition to an assembly-competent
state); ii) the scission/recombination processes providing growth of polymer chains and relaxation of their length distribution.
Analyzing the polymerization with no chains but unimers at t = 0 , with initial concentration of unimers M ≳ M
* (M* is the critical polymerization concentration), we determine the time evolution of the chain length distribution and find
that: 1) for M
* ≪ M ≪ M
*/σ the kinetics is characterized by 5 distinct time stages demarcated by 4 characteristic times t1, t2, t3 and t*; 2) there are transient regimes (t
1 ≲ t ≲ t
3) when the molecular-weight distribution is strongly non-exponential; 3) the chain scissions are negligible at times shorter
than t2. The chain growth is auto-accelerated for t
1 ≲ t ≲ t
2 : the cut-off chain length (= polymerization degree 〈n〉w

Nanotube aggregates with high porosity were prepared from hydrothermal treatment of TiO2 particles in NaOH at 130 °C, followed by HCl rinsing to different pH values. Pore structure of the aggregates, which were mainly mesoporous, was characterized by analyzing the N2 sorption isotherm with different methods including the t-plot and density function theory. The surface area, pore volume and mean pore size of the aggregates increased with the rinsing acidity to reach a maximum (e.g. 400 m2/g in surface area) at pH 1.6 and then decreased with further increase of the acidity. The crystalline phase and composition of the aggregates were, as well, significantly affected by the acidity of the post-treatment rinsing. Large-surface area aggregates were of loosely-attached nanotubes, composed of both anatase TiO2 and H2Ti2O5·H2O, obtained under a mildly acidic rinsing condition, while basic or highly acidic conditions resulted in the formation of closely coagulated dense structures consisting of different crystalline phases. 相似文献

A systematic dependence of excitonic properties on the size of self-organized InAs/GaAs quantum dots is presented. The bright exciton fine-structure splitting changes from negative values to more than 0.5 meV, and the biexciton binding energy varies from antibinding to binding, as the height of truncated pyramidal dots increases from 2 to above 9 InAs monolayers. A novel mode of metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy was developed for growing such quantum dots with precise shape control. The dots consist of pure InAs and feature heights varying in steps of complete InAs monolayers. Such dot ensembles evolve from a strained, rough two-dimensional layer with a thickness close to the critical value for the onset of the 2D–3D transition. Dots with a common height represent subensembles with small inhomogeneous broadening. Tuning of subensemble emission energy is achieved by varying the mean lateral extension of the respective QDs. Detailed knowledge of the structural properties of individual dots enable realistic k·p calculations to analyze the origin of the observed excitonic properties. The binding energies of charged and neutral excitons increase due to correlation by the gradually increasing number of bound states for increasing dot size. The monotonously increasing magnitude of the fine-structure splitting with dot size is shown to be caused by piezoelectricity. The identification of key parameters allows to tailor exciton properties, providing a major step towards the development of novel applications. 相似文献

In this paper, two-mode displaced excited squeezed vacuum states (TDESVS) are constructed and their normalization and completeness are investigated. Using the entangled state representation and Weyl ordering form of the Wigner operator, the Wigner functions of TDESVS are obtained and the variations of Wigner functions with the parameters m, n and r are investigated. We present here a numerical study of the magnetostatic charge distribution of transverse Néel type domain wall in permalloy nanowires. The calculations indicate that not only is the distribution highly non-uniform within a given transverse wall but it also varies dramatically with respect to the wire width. The implications of this for magnetostatic domain wall pinning are analyzed by considering the stray field interaction between a wall and another extended magnetic body for a particular domain wall chirality, where two distinct depinning mechanisms are observed depending on the wire width. 相似文献

The beam quality factors (or M2 parameter) of coherent and incoherent superposition of the several lower-order LP modes emerging from a step-index fiber have been calculated by using the second-order moment method. The results indicate that, for an individual LP mode, the M2 parameter takes its maximum value when the normalized frequency V of the step-index fiber approaches the cut-off frequency, and it gradually becomes constant as V increases. In the case of incoherent superposition, the larger the fraction intensity carried by the higher-order mode, the larger the beam quality factor M2. Under certain circumstances, the value of the M2 parameter of the mixed mode that comprises several LP-modes contents may become even smaller and closer to the ideal Gaussian beam than that of the fundamental mode in a step-index fiber. However, in the case of the coherent superposition, the value of the M2 parameter of the mixed mode may be greater than that of the higher-order constituent mode. We study the phase probability distribution of a three-level atom interacting with a cavity field in the presence of two-photon detuning and decoherence. Anabiosis of the phase probability distribution is observed due to the presence of the Stark shift. The simulation demonstrates that there is an enhancement of the phase sensitivity as soon as the two-photon detuning is considered. The W-Wigner function is also examined and it is shown that the nonclassical effect is apparent, however, for a small value of the decoherence factor. 相似文献
