The surface chemistry of plasma treated polystyrene samples has been studied in a specially designed low-pressure argon discharge system incorporating in situ XPS analysis. By using an electrostatic grid biasing technique, the plasma source can also be used in a mode preventing ion interactions with the sample.The system, which utilizes a vacuum transfer chamber between plasma and XPS analysis has allowed us to differentiate between the level of oxygen incorporated at the polystyrene surface from residual gas during treatment and that from the exposure of the treated sample to the laboratory atmosphere. Using typical base pressures of about 5 × 10−3 Pa (4 × 10−5 Torr) the XPS results show that significant oxygen surface incorporation resulted from oxygen containing species in the plasma itself (i.e. water vapour with 2 × 10−3 Pa partial pressure). The surface concentration of O was measured at 7.6 at.%. Subsequent atmospheric exposure of the treated samples resulted in only a small increase (of 0.6 at.%) in oxygen incorporation in the form of acid anhydride functionalities.XPS measurements of PS samples exposed to plasmas with no ion-surface component (i.e. exposure from VUV, UV and excited neutral species only) showed no appreciable change in oxygen incorporation compared to those with low-energy ion bombardment from the plasma (<20 eV). Given the energetics of the remaining bombarding species, it indicates that VUV radiation may be chiefly responsible for the production of free radical sites in this discharge regime.  相似文献

This review discusses methods for the metallo-, organo- and biocatalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral organophosphorus compounds with many applications in stereoselective synthesis with references to updated literature reports as well as the author’s original research. Asymmetric catalytic hydrogenation and reduction with chiral organometallic complexes, together with actively used asymmetric organocatalytic versions of various reactions enable us to synthesize chiral organophosphonates and phosphinates with high enantioselectivity and purity. Asymmetric catalysis is also an effective tool to realize some classic reactions of phosphorus chemistry in a stereospecific manner.  相似文献

ESCA examination on Ni-Cr alloys has shown that a thin passive film was formed after 24 h immersion in 0.1 M NaCl. The film contained only chromium oxide in the form of Cr2O3. Electrochemical techniques according to ASTM G59 and ASTM G5 were used for the determination of the relative corrosion rate of the alloys. Both Ni-10 wt. % Cr and Ni-20 wt. % Cr alloys showed a slightly higher corrosion rate than the Ni-40 wt. % Cr alloy.The present ESCA study of the Ni-Cr system is part of our programme which involves an examination of the four binary alloy systems Fe-Si, Cr-Co, Ni-Cr, and Mo-Ni [1]. The aim is to correlate the structure and composition of the passive films formed in 0.1 M NaCl to the corrosion behaviour in the same solution.  相似文献

Using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, we have successfully obtained laser-induced ripple patterns on various ferric metal surfaces. Changes of magnetic properties associated with the rippled areas were then investigated using a simple magnetic detecting system, which consisted of an audio recorder head, an audio amplifier and an oscilloscope. Significant magnetic changes associated with the formation of the ripples were found on a steel substrate pre-coated with a layer of chromium. This technique can be used as the basis of a machine readable laser marking system on steel surfaces, or even other surfaces that could be cotated with a steel/chromium film.  相似文献

The energy frontier is currently at the Fermilab Tevatron accelerator, which collides protons and antiprotons at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The luminosity delivered to the CDF and DØ experiments has now surpassed the 4 fb?1. This paper reviews the most recent direct searches for Higgs bosons and beyond-the-standard-model (BSM) physics at the Tevatron. The results reported correspond to an integrated luminosity of up to 2.5 fb?1 of Run II data collected by the two Collaborations. Searches covered include the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (including sensitivity projections), the neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), charged Higgs bosons and extended Higgs models, supersymmetric decays that conserve or violate R-parity, gauge-mediated supersymmetric breaking models, long-lived particles, leptoquarks, compositeness, extra gauge bosons, extra dimensions, and finally signature-based searches. Given the excellent performance of the collider and the continued productivity of the experiments, the Tevatron physics potential looks promising for discovery with the coming larger data sets. In particular, evidence for the SM Higgs boson could be obtained if its mass is light or near 160 GeV. The observed (expected) upper limits are currently a factor of 3.7 (3.3) higher than the expected SM Higgs boson cross section at m H =115 GeV and 1.1 (1.6) at m H =160 GeV at 95% C.L.  相似文献

At first, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses of reference and carbon dioxide plasma treated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were carried out. Significant chemical modifications were outlined in the treated PET surface in comparison with the reference one. The formation of new oxygenated groups was evidenced. These modifications heighten the level of interactions between the polymer substrate and the deposited coating.In a second stage, zinc oxide thin films were elaborated by r.f. magnetron sputtering from a ceramic target and with a reactive gas (mixture of argon-1% oxygen) under optimised conditions on CO2 plasma treated PET. The interfacial chemistry between the plasma treated PET and the zinc oxide was also studied by XPS. The line shape changes in the high-resolution core level spectra of carbon C1s, oxygen O1s, and zinc (Zn2p3/2, Zn3p), with the progressive deposition of zinc oxide coatings being recorded. The obtained spectra were fitted to mixed Gaussian-Lorentzian components using XPS CASA software.An interaction scheme between the zinc oxide thin layer and its polymer substrate, in the first stage of deposition, was proposed and checked by corroborating the findings of the different XPS spectra and their decompositions. It suggests the formation of ZnOC complexes at the interface, which are promoted by an electron transfer from zinc to oxygen in oxygenated species, mainly alcohol groups, generated by the CO2 plasma treatment of PET.  相似文献

We present a femtosecond laser-based technique for etching and forward transfer of bulk transparent materials in solid-phase. Femtosecond laser pulses with were focused through a fused silica block onto an absorbing thin film of Cr. A constraining Si wafer was pressed into tight contact with the Cr film to prevent lift-off of the film. A combination of the high temperature and pressure of the Cr, and compressive stress from the Si, resulted in etching of smooth features from the fused silica by cracking. Unlike in conventional ablative or chemical etching, the silica was removed from the bulk as single solid-phase pieces which could be collected on the Si. Using this so-called laser-induced solid etching (LISE) technique, 1-2 m deep pits and channels have been produced in the silica surface, and corresponding dots and lines deposited on the Si. The threshold fluence for etching was found to be with duration pulses. The morphology of the etched features are investigated as functions of fluence and exposure to multiple pulses.  相似文献

In this work, 0.30 μm thick LiNbO3 layers have been deposited by sputtering on nanocrystalline diamond/Si and platinised Si substrates. The films were then analyzed in terms of their structural and optical properties. Crystalline orientations along the (0 1 2), (1 0 4) and (1 1 0) axes have been detected after thermal treatment at 500 °C in air. The films were near-stoichiometric and did not reveal strong losses or diffusion in lithium during deposition or after thermal annealing. Pronounced decrease of the roughness on top of the LiNbO3 layer and at the interface between LiNbO3 and diamond was also observed after annealing, compared to the bare nanocrystalline diamond on Si substrate. Furthermore, ellipsometry analysis showed a better density and a reduced thickness of the surface layer after post-deposition annealing. The dielectric constant and losses have been measured to 50 and less than 3.5%, respectively, for metal/insulator/metal structures with 0.30 μm thick LiNbO3 layer. The piezoelectric coefficient d33 was found to be 7.1 pm/V. Finally, we succeeded in switching local domain under various positive and negative voltages.  相似文献
