Using the first-principles calculations, we investigate the electronic band structure and the quantum transport properties of metallic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs) with B/N pair co-doping. The results about formation energy show that the B/N pair co-doping configuration is a most stable structure. We find that the electronic structure and the transport properties are very sensitive to the doping concentration of the B/N pairs in MCNTs, where the energy gaps increase with doping concentration increasing both along the tube axis and around the tube, because the mirror symmetry of MCNT is broken by doping B/N pairs. In addition, we discuss conductance dips of the transmission spectrum of doped MCNTs. These unconventional doping effects could be used to design novel nanoelectronic devices. 相似文献

The microwave-synthesized zinc-oxide (ZnO) nanonorods of average length of ~ 1500 nm and diameter ~ 100 nm were irradiated with 6.5 meV electrons. From sample to sample, the electron fluence was varied over the range 5×1014 to 2.5×1015 e-cm?2. The pre- and post-electron-irradiated ZnO nanorods were characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV–VIS, EDAX, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and BET methods. The results show that after electron irradiation, the ZnO nanorods could retain the hexagonal phase with the wurtzite structure; however, the average length of the ZnO nanorods reduced to ~ 800 nm. Moreover, the oxygen atoms from a fraction of ZnO molecules were dislodged, and the process contributed to the formation of Zn–ZnO mixed phase, with increased zinc to oxygen ratio. In the photo-degradation of Rhodamine-B, a significant enhancement in the photocatalytic activity of the electron-irradiated ZnO nanorods was observed. This could be attributed to the induced defects, reduced dimensions, and increased surface area of the ZnO nanorods, in addition to the formation of the Zn–ZnO phase. All these could collectively contribute to the effective separation of the photogenerated electrons from the holes on the ZnO nanorods, and therefore enhance the photocatalytic activity under UV exposure. 相似文献

Electron transfer plays a key role in many biological systems, including core complexes of photosynthesis and respiration. As this involves unpaired electron spins, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is the method of choice to investigate such processes. Systems that show photo-induced charge separation and electron transfer are of particular interest, as here the processes can easily be synchronised to the experiment and therefore followed directly over its time course. One particular class of proteins, the cryptochromes, showing charge separation and in turn spin-correlated radical pairs upon excitation with blue light, have been investigated by time-resolved EPR spectroscopy in great detail and the results obtained so far are summarised in this contribution. Highlights include the first observation of spin-correlated radical pairs in these proteins, a fact with great impact on the proposed role as key part of a magnetic compass of migratory birds, as well as the assignment of the radical-pair partners and the unravelling of alternative and unexpected electron transfer pathways in these proteins, giving new insights into aspects of biological electron transfer itself. 相似文献

An approach involving ion‐pair switchable‐hydrophilicity solvent‐based homogeneous liquid–liquid microextraction coupled to high‐performance liquid chromatography has been applied for the preconcentration and separation of paraquat in a real sample. A mixture of triethylamine and water was used as the switchable‐hydrophilicity solvent. The pH was regulated using carbon dioxide; hence the ratio of the ionized and non‐ionized form of triethylamine could control the optimum conditions. Sodium dodecyl sulfate was utilized as an ion‐pairing agent. The ion‐associate complex formed between the cationic paraquat and sodium dodecyl sulfate was extracted into triethylamine. The separation of the two phases was carried out by the addition of sodium hydroxide, which changed the ionization state of triethylamine. The effects of some important parameters on the extraction recovery were investigated. Under the optimum conditions (500 μL of the extraction solvent, 1 mg sodium dodecyl sulfate, 2.0 mL of 10 mol/L sodium hydroxide, and pH 4), the limit of detection and the limit of quantification were 0.2 and 0.5 μg/L, respectively, with preconcentration factor of 74. The precision (RSD, n = 10) was <5%. The recovery of the analyte in environmental and biological samples was in the range of 90.0–92.3%. 相似文献

By using a regularization method, we study in this paper the global existence and uniqueness property of a new variant of non-convex sweeping processes involving maximal monotone operators. The system can be considered as a maximal monotone differential inclusion under a control term of normal cone type forcing the trajectory to be always contained in the desired moving set. When the set is fixed, one can show that the unique solution is right-differentiable everywhere and its right-derivative is right-continuous. Non-smooth Lyapunov pairs for this system are also analysed. 相似文献
