The hemispheres of the human brain are functionally and structurally asymmetric. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of aging on gray and white matter asymmetry. Two hundred twenty-six right-handed normal volunteers aged 21–71 years were included in this study. The effects of aging on gray matter volume asymmetry and white matter fractional anisotropy asymmetry were evaluated with use of voxel-based morphometry and voxel-based analysis of fractional anisotropy maps derived from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), respectively. The voxel-based morphometry showed no significant correlation between age and gray matter volume asymmetry. The voxel-based analysis of DTI also showed no significant correlation between age and white matter fractional anisotropy asymmetry. Our results showed no significant effects of aging on either gray matter volume asymmetry or white matter fractional anisotropy asymmetry. 相似文献

The asymmetry of a univariate continuous distribution is commonly measured by the classical skewness coefficient. Because this estimator is based on the first three moments of the dataset, it is strongly affected by the presence of one or more outliers. This article investigates the medcouple, a robust alternative to the classical skewness coefficient. We show that it has a 25% breakdown value and a bounded influence function. Three metamaterial samples were simulated, numerically analyzed, and fabricated with different resonator lengths on similar unit cells. According to the results in addition to conventional LC resonance of the resonator, standing wave resonance was also observed within the resonator-dielectric-grounded back wire waveguide. We observed that the orientation of the sides of this waveguide relative to the polarization of the incident electromagnetic wave has a direct effect on the resonant frequency. The best asymmetric shape of the resonator with the minimum reflection coefficient in a wide frequency range of about 5.5 GHz with only 3% of reflection was introduced. According to the results, metamaterial polarizers and optical filters can be produced based on the standing wave resonances. 相似文献

Information theoretic parameters are described which measure the asymmetry of polyhedra based on partitions of their vertices, faces, and edges into orbits under action of their symmetry point groups. Such asymmetry parameters are all zero only for the five regular polyhedra and are all unity for polyhedra having no symmetry at all, i.e. belonging to the C
1 symmetry point group. In all other cases such asymmetry parameters have values between zero and unity. Values for such asymmetry parameters are given for all topologically distinct polyhedra having five, six, and seven vertices; all topologically distinct eight-vertex polyhedra having at least six symmetry elements; and selected polyhedra having from nine to twelve vertices. Effects of polyhedral distortions on these asymmetry parameters are examined for the tetrahedron, trigonal bipyramid, square pyramid, and octahedron. The optically active ligand R,R-PHAZAN (1,3-bis[(1R)-1-Phenylethyl]-2-(2-thienyl)-1,3,2-diazaphospholane) has been prepared and the products resulting from the reactions with Rh6(CO)15NCMe, H3RhOs3(CO)12, and H4Ru4(CO)12 have been investigated by X-ray crystallography and a variety of multinuclear NMR methods. X-ray studies show that PHAZAN can behave as a bidentate ligand in Rh6(CO)14(μ2,κ2-R,R-PHAZAN) (with coordination through P and S) or a monodentate ligand (through P coordination) in H4Ru4(CO)11(κ1-R,R-PHAZAN) and NMR studies show that these structures are retained in solution. In Rh6(CO)14(μ2,κ2-R,R-PHAZAN), edge-bridging coordination of PHAZAN results in the formation of an additional two novel chiral centres and these are observed in solution. Reaction of PHAZAN with H3RhOs3(CO)12 results in cleavage of the thienyl group and formation of the phosphido cluster, H2RhOs3(CO)11(μ2-PNN), (PNN = 1,3-bis-(1-phenylethyl)-[1,3,2]diazaphospholidine-2-yl). A variety of NMR measurements show that the hydride site-occupancies in the solid state are retained in solution and there is evidence for interaction of an ortho-phenyl hydrogen and a hydride through “dihydrogen” bonding. 相似文献
