Three-Component Reaction of Triphenylphosphine,Acetylenic Esters,and Arylsulfonyl Hydrazides or Aryl Hydrazines: An Efficient One-Pot Synthesis of Stable β-Nitrogen-Substituted Phosphorus Ylides

The three-component reaction between dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and triphenylphosphine in the presence of arylsulfonyl hydrazides or aryl hydrazines produces highly functionalized, salt-free phosphorus ylides in excellent yields.     

Synthesis of Structurally Complex Silicon Frameworks through the First Sila-Aldol Reaction

Herein, we report on the first sila-aldol reaction, which emphasizes the tight connection between silicon and carbon chemistry. This novel synthetic method provides straightforward access to 2-oxahexasilabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-8-ide, a structurally complex silicon framework, in quantitative yield. Its structure was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, and it displays a distinctive charge-transfer transition. The complete mechanism of this highly selective rearrangement cascade is outlined and supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, which highlight the thermodynamic driving force and the low activation barriers of this powerful silicon–carbon bond-forming strategy.     

1-(2-Iodophenyl)-1H-tetrazole as a ligand for Pd(II) catalyzed Heck reaction

1-(2-Iodophenyl)-1H-tetrazole 2 was synthesized by the reaction of 2-iodoaniline, sodium azide and triethyl orthoformate in acetic acid. The newly synthesized ligand 2 was successfully used in Heck reaction to give the cross-coupled products in excellent yields.     

On the mechanism of the N,N‐dimethyl amination of Grignard reagents: a kinetic study

A direct kinetic study is reported for the electrophilic amination of substituted phenylmagnesium bromides with N,N‐dimethyl O‐(mesitylenesulfonyl)hydroxylamine in THF. Rate data, Hammett relationship, and activation entropy are consistent with a S_N2 displacement involving the attack of carbanions to sp³N in the amination reagent (AR).
