Solute-solute-solvent interactions in dilute aqueous solutions of aliphatic diols. Excess enthalpies and gibbs free energies

The heats of dilution and the osmotic coefficients for some aliphatic diols (1,3-propanediol; 1,2-butanediol; 1,3-butanediol; 1,4-butanediol; 2,3-butanediol; 1,5-pentanediol; 1,6-hexanediol) in water at 25°C are reported. The experimental free energy and enthalpy pairwise interaction coefficients were evaluated and are discussed in terms of the hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties of the solutes. The effect of the mutual position of the polar hydrophilic groups in the molecule on the experimental interaction coefficients transposed to the McMillan-Mayer (MM) state is emphasized. The Sawage-Wood additivity of groups (SWAG) approach has been used and critically discussed.Paper presented at J.C.A.T. '86-Ferrara 27–30 Ottobre 1986.     

Surface composition and property of film prepared with aqueous dispersion of polyurethaneurea-acrylate including fluorinated block copolymer

The aqueous dispersion of polyurethaneurea-acrylate (PUA) including small amount of fluorinated block copolymers containing carboxyl groups (PATF), which can be dissolved in water, was used to make films and the surface properties of these films were examined. The experimental data show that the modified PUA film exhibits a hydrophobic surface property, although the original surface of PUA film is hydrophilic. The surface composition of the modified PUA film was measured by ATR and XPS. The results indicate that there is a concentration gradient of the fluorine groups along the lines of thickness of the modified film and towards the outmost surface layer, resulting from the migration of fluorinated blocks to the air side surface of the modified PUA film during the film formation process. However, the PUA film can not be modified effectively by adding the sodium salt of PATF, since the urethane groups in the system are easy to occupy on the surface of the film.     

Solubilities,thermostabilities and flame retardance behaviour of phosphorus-containing flame retardants and copolymers

Thirteen phosphorus-containing flame retardants were synthesized in this work. The solubilities of flame retardant [(6-oxide-6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphorin-6-yl)-methyl]-butanedioic acid (DDP) in selected solvents are measured. TGA measurements of the 13 phosphorus-containing flame retardants were carried out and thermal stabilities of three flame-resistant PET (FRPET) resins were investigated. A FRPET incorporated by DDP with terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol reported in literature was also discussed and compared. The thermal stability of the FRPET is improved by the incorporation of phosphorus-containing flame retardants. The LOI values of all phosphorus-containing polyesters are higher than 27%. The improvement of the flame-resistant ability is due to the formation of the char that is not only caused by the existence of phosphorus elements in the resin but also by the relative large number of carbon atoms of the phenyl group in the flame retardants.     

ViscosityB-coefficients,structural entropies and heat capacities,and the effects of ions on the structure of water

The water-structural contributions to the entropies and heat capacities of hydration of over 120 ions and the viscosity B-coefficients of nearly 80 aqueous ions are tabulated and correlated. B-coefficients for many more ions are predicted from this relationship and from their dependence on ionic size and charge. The structural entropies determine a unique scale of water structure making and breaking by the ions.

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of ionic liquids and determination of their solubility in water

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry is used to detect both the cations (C⁺) and the anions (A^–) of ionic liquids (CA). In this study, the ionic liquids are diluted with aqueous methanol before injection. In addition to the main peaks of the parent ions, fragmentation products are observed upon increasing the cone voltage, whereas aggregates of the parent ion with one or more ionic liquid molecules (e.g., C(CA)_n⁺, A(CA)_n^–) are observed upon decreasing the cone voltage. The ions of several ionic liquids in a mixture are also detected and the ratios of their concentrations estimated. A method is developed to determine quantitatively the concentration of an ionic liquid in solution by using the cation and anion of another ionic liquid as internal standards. By using this method, the solubilities in water at room temperature (22±1 °C) of three typical hydrophobic ionic liquids have been determined: 0.70±0.08 g L^–1 for methyltributylammonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (MeBu₃NNTf₂), 6.0±0.5 g L^–1 for butylmethylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (BuMePyrNTf₂), and 18.6±0.7 g L^–1 for 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIPF₆).     

Capillary electrochromatographic separation of enantiomers under aqueous mobile phases on a covalently bonded cellulose derivative chiral stationary phase

A chemically bonded cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) chiral stationary phase (CSP) was prepared by a radical polymerization reaction. The prepared CSP was packed into fused-silica capillaries with inner diameter of 75 microm to perform enantiomer separations in CEC. The electrochromatographic behavior of the CSP was investigated. On the prepared CSP, high EOF could be generated under acidic mobile phases, which represented an advantage for the separation of acidic enantiomers. Several neutral, acidic, and basic enantiomers were resolved on the prepared CSP under aqueous mobile phases. The column efficiencies were between 20,000 and 100,000 plates/m, which were much higher than those of HPLC. In addition, it was observed that the separation of some enantiomers benefited from the adoption of THF as mobile phase modifier.     

Synthesis and characterization of new soluble poly（aryl ether nitrile）s containing phthalazinone moiety

A series of novel poly（aryl ether nitrile）s containing phthalazinone moiety were synthesized by the nucleophilic displacement reaction of bisphenol-like monomers （I） with 2,6-difluorobenzonitrile. The inherent viscosities ranged from 0.46 to 1.07 dL g^-1. The glass transition temperatures were in the range of 277-295℃, and the temperatures for 10% weight loss in nitrogen atmosphere were found between 495 and 527 ℃. The structures of these resultant polymers were confirmed by FT-IR and 1^H NMR. Moreover, the properties of poly（aryl ether nitrile）s including solubility and crystallinity were also studied.     

铝（Ⅲ）—桑色素—含氧有机溶剂荧光体系的研究

本文系统研究了醇、酮等7种含氧有机溶剂对铝-桑色素络合物荧光反应的溶剂化效应。研究发现,上述有机溶剂对荧光体系均有增敏作用,以乙醇的效果最佳,使络合物的荧光强度增加6倍多。据此,本文建立了测定微量铝的高灵敏度荧光分析方法,线性范围为0～1.0μg/10ml,检测限为1.6×10~(-9)g/ml。用所建立的方法对化学试剂中的微量杂质铝进行了测定,结果令人满意。并对有机溶剂化效应的机理作了探讨。     

Selective hydrodechlorination of fluorinated arylamines

Chlorine-containing polyfluorinated anilines and meta-phenylenediamines undergo selective hydrodechlorination easily upon reduction by zinc in aqueous ammonia. A new approach is thus provided to synthetically valuable, partially fluorinated arylamines based on utilizing polyfluorochloroarenes, which are available as intermediates of perfluoroarene production from perchloroarenes. When chlorine atoms are present in positions both ortho and para to the amino group, para chlorine is initially eliminated. Based on this reaction, a one-pot synthesis of partially fluorinated 4-aminopyridines from 3,5-dichlorotrifluoro- and 3-chlorotetrafluoropyridine has been realized.
