Highly active catalysts for copolymerization have been prepared by the precipitation of MgCl2/ToCl4 complex with or without high surface area silica. Copolymerization of ethylene and 1-butene has been tested by using the prepared catalysts at various concentrations of 1-butene. The catalytic activities are 20–80 kg/g Ti h. The rate of copolymerization is strongly affected by the addition of 1-butene. The decay rate of copolymerization is first order with respect to time. Analyses of copolymers with solvent extraction, DSC, IR, XRD, and NMR were performed. Ethylene reactivity ratio (k11) for TiCl4/MgCl2/THF catalyst is calculated to be about 26 by NMR spectrum. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The kinetic features of radical polymerization of styrene in the presence of primary and secondary aliphatic amines combined with benzoyl peroxide and the molecular-mass characteristics of the resulting polymers were studied. In the presence of peroxide initiators, aliphatic amines, as potential sources of stable aminoxyl radicals, provide the synthesis of polystyrene with a controlled molecular mass without gel effect at a relatively high rate. The separation, characterization, and determination of mixtures of alkyl ether sulfates (AES) and fatty acids (C10-C16) in background electrolytes (BGEs) containing acetonitrile (ACN)-water mixtures is addressed. Due to inhibition of the ionization of the carboxylate groups, the migration time and the resolution between the fatty acids decreased when the water content of the BGE was reduced, but efficiency and resolution between the AES oligomers improved. The migration times increased and resolution improved by substituting 5% ACN by an equivalent amount of dioxane. A complete separation of the two surfactant classes, up to the AES oligomers with 8 ethylene oxide units (EOs) with respect to C10, with excellent resolution between the AES oligomers, while preserving a satisfactory resolution between the fatty acids, was achieved with a BGE containing 5 mM trimethoxybenzoic acid, 7 mM dipentylamine, 85% ACN, 5% dioxane, and 10% water. The two surfactant classes were increasingly resolved by further reducing the water content of the BGE. Thus, C2 (acetate) was resolved from the AES oligomers up to 7 EOs using 90% ACN and 5% dioxane, but the resolution between the heavier fatty acids was poor with this BGE. Identification of the AES oligomers was eased by the excellent regularity of the successive migration times; thus, within each AES subclass or series of oligomers with the same number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, the migration times decreased following a mild curve as the number of EOs increased. The way how the data obtained by indirect photometry (corrected peak areas that are proportional to the molar concentrations) should be managed to avoid systematic error when the calibration curve is constructed using an AES standard with an oligomer distribution different from that of the samples is discussed and equations are given. Decyl sulfate was successfully used as internal standard. The detection limits (S/N = 3) were of ca. 2 microM for individual AES oligomers.  相似文献

A new family of hydrophobically modified polyacrylamides was synthesized via copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) and anionic surface-active monomer of acrylamide-type, sodium 2-acrylamido-tetradecane sulfonate (NaAMC14S), in aqueous solution. In the copolymerization, by varying various factors, such as the feed ratio of NaAMC14S to AM and the amount of added electrolyte NaCl and initiator, we prepared copolymers NaAMC14S/AM with different block structures. The relationship between structures and hydrophobic association properties of copolymer chains was studied by using fluorescence probe and viscosimetry. Effects of the content and length of the hydrophobic blocks and the total molecular weight on hydrophobic association of the copolymers in pure water and in brine solution were examined, respectively. The results show that in pure water, hydrophobic association of the copolymers was enhanced as the content and length of the hydrophobic block increase. On the other hands, for a given content and length of the hydrophobic block, the hydrophobic association of the copolymers was enhanced as the total molecular weight increases. For all the copolymers studied, the apparent viscosity of their solutions in pure water has a limited value, but the apparent viscosities of the copolymer brine solutions are much higher than that of their corresponding water solutions, and show strong positive salinity sensitivity. Similarly, the hydrophobic association of the copolymer in brine solutions was enhanced as the content and length of the hydrophobic block increase.  相似文献

The anionic polymerization of 2‐vinylnaphthalene (2VN) has been studied in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at ?78 °C and in toluene at 40 °C. 2VN polymerization in THF, toluene, or toluene/THF (99:1 v/v) initiated by sec‐butyllithium (sBuLi) indicates living characteristics, affording polymers with predefined molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions. Block copolymers of 2VN with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA) have been synthesized successfully by sequential monomer addition in THF at ?78 °C initiated by an adduct of sBuLi–LiCl. The crossover propagation from poly(2‐vinylnaphthyllithium) (P2VN) macroanions to MMA and tBA appears to be living, the molecular weight and composition can be predicted, and the molecular weight distribution of the resulting block copolymer is narrow (weight‐average molecular/number‐average molecular weight < 1.3). Block copolymers with different chain lengths for the P2VN segment can easily be prepared by variations in the monomer ratios. The block copolymerization of 2VN with hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane also results in a block copolymer of P2VN and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) contaminated with a significant amount of homo‐PDMS. Poly(2VN‐b‐nBA) (where nBA is n‐butyl acrylate) has also been prepared by the transesterification reaction of the poly(2VN‐b‐tBA) block copolymer. Size exclusion chromatography, Fourier transform infrared, and 1H NMR measurements indicate that the resulting polymers have the required architecture. The corresponding amphiphilic block copolymer of poly(2VN‐b‐AA) (where AA is acrylic acid) has been synthesized by acidic hydrolysis of the ester group of tert‐butyl from the poly(2VN‐b‐tBA) copolymer. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 29Si NMR peaks due to species with the double four-membered ring siloxane backbone composed of both Si(O)4/2 and CH3Si(O)3/2 units, (CH3) n Si8O 20 – n /(8 – n) – (n=1–3), formed by co-hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane and methyltriethoxysilane in the presence of tetramethylammonium ions in methanol have been assigned. It has been found that 29Si NMR peaks due to Si(OSi)3(O) units shift to lower frequencies by replacement of the adjacent Si(O)4/2 units by CH3Si(O)3/2 units, in other words, with increasing m value in Si[OSi(O)3]3 – m [OSi(CH3) (O)2] m (O) (m=0–2). Peaks from CH3 Si(OSi)3 units in the species have also appeared as separated due to the kind of neighbor structural units. On the basis of the assignments, positions of CH3Si(O)3/2 units in the cubic octameric siloxane framework of (CH3) n Si8O 20 – n /(8 – n) – (n=2, 3), for both of which three isomers are present, have been estimated.  相似文献
