In May 2014, the Rosetta spacecraft is scheduled to rendezvous with the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko ('67P'). One of the instruments on board the 'Lander' which will descend on to the surface of the comet is a miniaturised GC/MS system that incorporates an ion trap mass spectrometer, specially developed for isotope ratio analysis. This article describes the development and optimisation of the ion trap for this unique application, and presents a summary of the range of pre-programmed experiments that will contribute to the characterisation of the solid and volatile cometary materials. 相似文献
A convenient synthesis of novel bifunctional poly(amino carboxylate) chelating agents allowing chemoselective attachment to highly functionalized biomolecules is described. Based on the well known chelator 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclodecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA), we synthesized novel bifunctional chelating agents bearing additional functional groups by alkylating 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (cyclen) with one equivalent of para-functionalized alkyl 2-bromophenyl-acetate and three equivalents of tert-butyl 2-bromoacetate. The resulting compounds, which contain an additional carbonyl or alkyne functionality, allow site specific labeling of appropriately functionalized unprotected biomolecules in a rapid manner via click reactions. This was demonstrated by the attachment of our new DOTA derivatives to the somatostatin analogue Tyr3-octreotate by chemoselective oxime ligation and CuI-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition. Initial biodistribution studies in mice with the radiometalated compound demonstrated the applicability of the described DOTA conjugation. 相似文献
A styrene-maleic anhydride (SMA) alternating copolymer with ultrahigh molecular weight (Mw > 106) synthesized in super critical carbon dioxide (SC CO2) medium was used as hydrophilic polymeric additive in the preparation of polyethersulfone (PES) membranes. The PES/SMA blend membranes were prepared by immersion precipitation process. X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy (XPS) measurements confirmed that the hydrolyzed SMA preferentially segregated to membrane–coagulant interface during membrane formation. For the PES/SMA blend membranes, no big change was observed in the cross-sectional structure and the mechanical properties were well maintained after SMA addition except that a thicker top layer was formed. The surface morphology analysis by atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed that the membrane surface roughness increased with the added SMA amount. The results of water contact angle, water absorbance measurements and static protein adsorption experiments revealed that the surface enrichment of SMA endowed PES/SMA blend membranes with significantly improved surface hydrophilicity and protein-adsorption resistance. 相似文献
In the first section of this paper we revisit the definition and some of the properties of the minimal polynomial of an element of a finite-dimensional power-associative algebra over an arbitrary field . Our main observation is that , the minimal polynomial of , may depend not only on , but also on the underlying algebra. More precisely, if is a subalgebra of , and if is the minimal polynomial of in , then may differ from , in which case we have .
In the second section we restrict attention to the case where is either the real or the complex numbers, and define , the radius of an element in , to be the largest root in absolute value of the minimal polynomial of . We show that possesses some of the familiar properties of the classical spectral radius. In particular, we prove that is a continuous function on .
In the third and last section, we deal with stability of subnorms acting on subsets of finite-dimensional power-associative algebras. Following a brief survey, we enhance our understanding of the subject with the help of our findings of the previous section. Our main new result states that if , a subset of an algebra , satisfies certain assumptions, and is a continuous subnorm on , then is stable on if and only if majorizes the radius defined above.
Abstract Let A be the mod p Steenrod algebra and S the sphere spectrum localized at p, where p is an odd prime. In 2001 Lin detected a new family in the stable homotopy of spheres which is represented by (b0hn-h1bn-1)∈ ExtA^3,(p^n+p)q(Zp,Zp) in the Adams spectral sequence. At the same time, he proved that i.(hlhn) ∈ExtA^2,(p^n+P)q(H^*M, Zp) is a permanent cycle in the Adams spectral sequence and converges to a nontrivial element ξn∈π(p^n+p)q-2M. In this paper, with Lin's results, we make use of the Adams spectral sequence and the May spectral sequence to detect a new nontrivial family of homotopy elements jj′j^-γsi^-i′ξn in the stable homotopy groups of spheres. The new one is of degree p^nq + sp^2q + spq + (s - 2)q + s - 6 and is represented up to a nonzero scalar by hlhnγ-s in the E2^s+2,*-term of the Adams spectral sequence, where p ≥ 7, q = 2(p - 1), n ≥ 4 and 3 ≤ s 〈 p. 相似文献
