Expandable network and covering properties for uniform Eberlein compacta

In this paper we characterize the class of uniform Eberlein compact spaces through a network condition and also in terms of covering properties for the square of the space.     

氧化铁浆液脱硫的实验研究与理论分析

本文实验研究了氧化铁浆液在酸性环境下脱除烟气中的二氧化硫气体。实验在一自制的脱硫塔中进行。通过燃烧液化石油气来产生烟气,将氧化铁的超细粉加入水中作为脱硫介质。实验中研究了二氧化硫初始浓度、水气比对脱硫效率的影响。从实验结果可以看出,脱硫率随着水气比的增加而增大;随二氧化硫的初始浓度的增加,其脱硫率呈降低趋势。在文中同时分析了氧化铁浆液的脱硫机理和此方法脱硫的优点以及目前存在的问题。     

Estimating the largest singular values of large sparse matrices via modified moments

We describe a procedure for determining a few of the largest singular values of a large sparse matrix. The method by Golub and Kent which uses the method of modified moments for estimating the eigenvalues of operators used in iterative methods for the solution of linear systems of equations is appropriately modified in order to generate a sequence of bidiagonal matrices whose singular values approximate those of the original sparse matrix. A simple Lanczos recursion is proposed for determining the corresponding left and right singular vectors. The potential asynchronous computation of the bidiagonal matrices using modified moments with the iterations of an adapted Chebyshev semi-iterative (CSI) method is an attractive feature for parallel computers. Comparisons in efficiency and accuracy with an appropriate Lanczos algorithm (with selective re-orthogonalization) are presented on large sparse (rectangular) matrices arising from applications such as information retrieval and seismic reflection tomography. Cinnamic acid amides and lignanamides from Aptenia cordifolia

Examination of the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Aptenia cordifolia has afforded three cinnamic acid amides and two lignanamides. Structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic data, including 2D-NMR analyses.     

Noncommuting selfmaps and invariant approximations

Common fixed-point results are established for a new class of noncommuting selfmaps. We apply them to obtain several invariant approximation results which unify, extend, and complement well-known results.     

Characterization of supercommuting matrices

For a given n-by-n matrix A, we consider the set of matrices which commute with A and all of whose principal submatrices commute with the corresponding principal submatrices of A. The properties of this set are examined, with particular attention to its dimension.     

Properties of holomorphic Wiener functions —skeleton,contraction, and local Taylor expansion

Summary We show that each holomorphic Wiener function has a skeleton which is intrinsic from several viewpoints. In particular, we study the topological aspects of the skeletons by using the local Taylor expansion for holomorphic Wiener functions.Supported in part by the Grant-in-Aid for Science Research 03740120 Min. Existence of 3D-Vortices in Abelian Gauge Theories

We consider the Abelian gauge theory related to the interaction between the solitary waves of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation and the electromagnetic field. We analyze the existence of electromagnetostatic solutions and, in particular, of vortices. Dedicated to the memory of Professor Aldo Cossu     

Uniform non-amenability of free Burnside groups

The aim of this paper is to show that free Burnside groups of sufficiently large odd exponent are non-amenable in a certain strong sense. More precisely their left regular representations are isolated from the trivial representation uniformly on finite generating sets. It follows that free Burnside groups are of uniform exponential growth. This answers a question of de la Harpe. The 1-type of a Waldhausen K-theory spectrum

We give a small functorial algebraic model for the 2-stage Postnikov section of the K-theory spectrum of a Waldhausen category and use our presentation to describe the multiplicative structure with respect to biexact functors.
