Pillar[5]arene based conjugated macrocycle polymers with unique photocatalytic selectivity

The development of heterogeneous catalysts with substrate shape, size or electronic constitution selectivity is a huge challenge in photocatalysis. Reported herein is a host-guest interaction strategy to endow photocatalysts with special selectivity. By adjusting the precursors, conjugated macrocycle polymers (CMPs) with pillar[5]arene struts (CMP-1 and CMP-2) and a corresponding non-pillar[5]arene-contained conjugated organic polymer (COP-1) were prepared and the photocatalytic activities toward sulfide derivatives were investigated. The sulfides showed similar conversions when COP-1 was used as a photocatalyst, but exhibited significant differences when it turned to the CMPs. Remarkably, the conversion yield of S-1 achieved near 18 folds over the one of S-2 when CMP-2 was used as a catalyst. Mechanism studies confirmed that the “host-guest” effect of pillar[5]arene struts in CMPs was the main cause of the difference. The present work establishes CMPs as novel heterogeneous photocatalysts with substrate selectivity, and such a method will inspire the researchers concerning preparation of heterogeneous catalysts with excellent selectivity.     

Dual Electroactivity in a Covalent Organic Network with Mechanically Interlocked Pillar[5]arenes

The synthesis and characterization of a polyrotaxanated covalent organic network (CON) based on the association between the viologen and pillar[5]arene (P[5]OH) units are reported. The mechanical bond allows for the irreversible insertion of n-type redox centers (P[5]OH macrocycles) within a pristine structure based on p-type viologen redox centers. Both redox units are active on a narrow potential range and, in water, the presence of P[5]OH greatly increases the electroactivity of the material.

Abstract

Electrochemical caracteristics of 2-mercaptopyridine-5-carboxylic acid and its methylic ester have been determined using recent polarographic techniques. Measurements have been carried out as a function of parameters such as frequency, others surimposed signals and as a function of concentration and pH. Results are compared to those obtained for selectively methylated on sulfur or nitrogen atoms derivatives. Interpretations of the data are given. The optimal conditions for a quantitative determination by D.C. and differential pulse polarography are fixed.     

Amine Salt–Catalyzed Synthesis of 5-Substituted 1H-Tetrazoles from Nitriles

The [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between sodium azide and various organic nitriles proceeds smoothly in the presence of amine salts as catalyst in dimethylformamide. The corresponding 5-substituted 1-H tetrazoles were obtained under mild condition in good to excellent yields. Supplemental materials are available for this article. Catalyst-free three-component approach to efficient synthesis of chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-one derivatives

A mild, efficient, and environmentally benign one-pot synthesis of functionalized chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-ones by a three-component domino reaction of 4-aminocoumarins, arylglyoxal monohydrates, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in refluxing ethanol without the use of catalyst is reported. The present protocol features operational simplicity, short reaction time, good yields, and the absence of aqueous workup procedure and chromatographic separation.     

The efficient in‐situ reduction and cyclization reaction of aromatic aldehyde, 1,3‐cyclopentanedione (tetronic acid), and nitro‐compound under SnCl2·2H2O‐THF medium

An efficient in‐situ reduction and cyclization reaction for the synthesis of pyrazolo[4,3‐f]quinoline, pyrazolo[3,4‐f]quinoline, and pyrazolo[3,2‐f]quinoline derivatives directly form 5‐nitroindazole, 6‐nitroindazole and 5‐nitroindole in the presence of SnCl₂·2H₂O was reported. Compared to traditional synthetic methods, this approach has the advantages of stable reagents, easy obtaining raw material, and high yields. In this research, SnCl₂·2H₂O is the efficient reducing agent for the in‐situ reduction and cyclization reaction of nitro‐compound. In addition, this process provided an alternative approach for the synthesis of target compounds.     

Conformational effects of 1,5,9-substitution in symmetric bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane analogues

The high-level ab initio calculations on several derivatives of bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane, 1-aza- and 1,5-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]-nonanes show the ‘double chair’ (CC) conformer as optimal for all of them, dominating over the ‘boat–chair’ (BC) form. Conformational effects of several substitution types involving positions 1, 5 and 9 are quantified, and their values are found rather transferable.
