Novel three-dimensional dandelion-like TiO2 structure with high photocatalytic activity

Pure rutile phase crystalline TiO₂ powder with novel 3D dandelion-like structure was synthesized by using a facile hydrothermal method with TiCl₃ as the main starting material. In such a 3D structure, the nanometer-scale construction elements aggregate together and form a micrometer-scale artificial unit. The typical 3D dandelion structure has an average diameter of 1.5-2 μm and is packed radially by nanorods with [001] preference growth direction. Each individual nanorod is hundreds of nanometers in length, and tens of nanometers in diameter. The obtained 3D dandelion-like TiO₂ powder has a high photocatalytic activity, which is equivalent to that of the commercial available P25 titania powder. Mechanisms of the formation of the dandelion-like structure were also discussed. A different oxidation process of Ti(III) to Ti(IV) during hydrothermal was suggested.     

An efficient synthesis of 3-amino-2-arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines

An efficient synthesis of 3-amino-2-arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines is described via a novel multicomponent reaction between 2-aminopyridines, benzaldehydes and imidazoline-2,4,5-trione under solvent-free conditions.     

A 2‐fold Interpenetrated Framework based on Tetranuclear Heterometallic Cluster: Synthesis,Structure and Magnetic Properties

A 2‐fold parallel interpenetrated polymer, ZnCo(OH)(pheno)(p‐BDC)_1.5·H₂O ( 1 ) (pheno = phenanthrene‐9,10‐dione; p‐BDC = 1,4‐benzenedicarboxylate) has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and structurally characterized by IR, elemental analysis, ICP and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca and affords a three‐dimensional (3D) six‐connected α‐Po network. The magnetic behavior for 1 was studied in the temperature range of 1.8‐300 K.     

One‐pot Preparation,Spectroscopic and Structural Characterization of Mercury(II) Complexes of Bulky Diimines with Halides and Pseudohalides

The preparation and characterization of two novel HgCl₂ and Hg(SCN)₂ complexes with bis[N‐(2‐tert‐butylphenyl)imine]acenaphthene is here described. One‐pot reaction techniques were used, leading to high yields of 75 % and 81 %, respectively. The complexes were characterized by microanalysis, i.r. and ¹HNMR spectroscopy, and by single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The structures of the complexes present similar characteristics, the most outstanding being the formation of dimers via intermolecular interaction. Whereas the HgCl₂ complex shows a unidimensional network due to strong π–π interactions, its Hg(SCN)₂ counterpart displays a supramolecular arrangement resulting from non classical hydrogen bond formation.     

A New Supramolecular Assembly Formed by Melamine and Sulfuric Acid

Polymeric melaminium sulfate [(LH₂)₂(SO₄)₂]_n has been synthesized by reaction of melamine L with sulfuric acid in aqueous solution. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, ¹H NMR, ESI MS and a single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. The architecture of the assembly formed is based on hydrogen bonded dimers of diprotonated melaminium cations (LH₂)²⁺ which are linked by a hydrogen bonded network with sulfate ions forming 2D sheets. A 3D polymeric structure results from the presence of mutual hydrogen bonds between sulfate ions and melaminium cations in different sheets. Significant π‐π stacking is also present between the aromatic cations in this supramolecular arrangement.     

An InCl3 catalyzed facile one-pot synthesis of novel dispiro[cyclopent-3′-ene]bisoxindoles

An InCl₃ catalyzed efficient synthesis of novel dispiro[cyclopent-3′-ene]bisoxindoles is accomplished via a one-pot reductive cyclization of isatylidene malononitriles using the Hantzsch ester.     

A convenient synthesis of pyrrolopyridines and 2-substituted indoles by gold-catalyzed cycloisomerization

We have developed a gold-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of variously substituted acetylenic amines under mild conditions, which yields pyrrolopyridines and 2-substituted indoles, quantitatively. The cycloisomerization of acetylenic amines was achieved with AuCl₃ as catalyst without the use of base, acid or N-protecting group.
