Crystal Structure of a Supramolecular Complex Formed between 1-bromo-2-iodo-tetrafluoroethane and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-ethylenediamine

X-ray analysis has revealed that N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-ethylenediamine 1 form donor–acceptor complex 3 with 1-bromo-2-iodo-tetrafluoroethane 2, in which the N X (X = Br, I) distances are longer than the average covalent bond length between X and N, but are also definitively shorter than the sum of the corresponding van der Waals radii of X and N, thus that indicating weak interactions between the nitrogen and bromine or iodine atoms. In our experimental section, a valuable method for recrystallization and collect X-ray data from crystals that easily exhibit decay and can be cracked is reported.     

Photocycloaddition of Cyclohex‐2‐enones to Penta‐1,2,4‐triene

Dihydrothiinone 9a undergoes photocycloaddition regioselectively to all three C?C bonds of penta‐1,2,4‐triene ( 10 ), the relative stabilities of the biradical intermediates determining the product distribution. In contrast, cyclohexenone 9b and dihydropyranone 9c afford more complex mixtures of bicyclo[4.2.0]octanones, which also turn out to be less stable on chromatographic workup, reflecting the higher strain due to the shorter bond lengths (C? O and C? C vs. C? S) in the six‐membered rings, respectively.     

Electronic structure of BeH2

Nonorthogonal single‐configuration and multiconfiguration ab initio calculations are carried out on the BeH₂ molecule in its equilibrium (D_∞h) geometry, using a highly optimized even‐tempered Slater‐type orbital (STO) basis set. The results are used as a basis for a discussion of the electronic structure of the molecule in modern‐VB terms. A value of R_e = 1.329 Å is obtained. Values are also obtained for the symmetric‐stretch harmonic frequency (2053 cm^?1), electric quadrupole moment (?5.60 Buckingham), and nuclear quadrupole coupling constants (?3.59 MHz for ⁹Be and 0.0915 MHz for ²H). © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly[3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)glyceric acid] from Stems of <Emphasis Type="Italic">Symphytum asperum</Emphasis> and <Emphasis Type="Italic">S. caucasicum</Emphasis>

Two high-molecular-weight (>1000 kDa) water-soluble preparations were isolated from stems of Symphytum asperum and S. caucasicum. Their basic component was established as poly[hydroxy-1-carboxy-2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethylene], analogous to that of high-molecular-weight (>1000 kDa) preparations from roots of these same plants, using IR and NMR spectral data. __________ Translated from Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 303–305, July–August, 2005. Three-phase extraction study of cyanex 923-n-heptane/H(2)SO(4) system

Phase behavior of the extraction system, Cyanex 923–heptane/H₂SO₄–H₂O has been studied. The third phase appeared at different aqueous H₂SO₄ concentration with varying initial Cyanex 923 concentration and temperature affects its appearance. Almost all of H₂SO₄ and H₂O are extracted into the middle phase. The H₂SO₄ concentration in the third phase increases with the increasing aqueous acid concentration (C_H2SO4,b) while the water content first increases and then reaches a constant value at C_H2SO4,b=11.3 mol l⁻¹. In the region of C_H2SO4,b higher than 5.2 mol l⁻¹, the composition of the middle phase is only related to the equilibrium concentration of H₂SO₄ in the bottom phase. H₂SO₄ and H₂O are transferred into the middle phase mainly by their coordination with Cyanex 923 when C_H2SO4,b is less than 11.3 mol l⁻¹. When C_H2SO4,b is higher than 11.3 mol l⁻¹, excess H₂SO₄ is solubilized into the polar layer of the aggregates. In the region considered, the extracted complex changes from C923 · H₂SO₄ to C923 · H₂SO₄ · H₂O and then to C923 · (H₂SO₄)₂ · H₂O.     

Simplified chemical and radiochemical synthesis of 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol, an endogenous ligand of cannabinoid receptors

Endocannabinoids have emerged as a new class of lipid mediators, with manifold roles in the central nervous system and in the periphery. Several studies have identified 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol (2-AG) as a major endogenous agonist of cannabinoid receptors. Here, the chemical synthesis of 2-AG is reported, along with the synthesis of its tritium-labeled derivative. These unlabeled and radiolabeled compounds are suitable tools for unravelling some metabolic routes and biological activities of 2-AG in various cells and tissues.     

次甲基硅SiH与H2X(X=O,S)反应的热力学及动力学性质研究

在量子化学对SiH与H₂O和H₂S反应计算的基础上,运用统计热力学和Wigner校正的Eyring过渡态理论,计算了上述两反应在200～2000 K温度范围内的热力学函数、平衡常数、频率因子A和速率常数随温度的变化。计算结果表明,两反应在低温下具有热力学优势,而在高温下具有动力学优势。比较两反应的计算结果发现,在相同的温度下,SiH与H₂O反应比SiH与H₂S反应放热较多,但速率常数却较小。SiH与H₂O反应和前文报道的SiH与HF反应的比较表明,SiH与H₂O反应放热较少,而且在相同温度下,速率常数也较小。     

27Al和29Si MAS-NMR对Mo/HZSM-5催化剂的研究

使用＾２９Ａｌ固体离分辨核磁技术对甲烷无氧芳构化催化剂Ｍｏ／ＨＺＳＭ－５分子筛进行了研究，发现ＨＺＳＭ－５分子筛本体中仅含有少量非骨架Ａｌ，Ｍｏ物种与分子筛骨架Ａｌ的相互作用随Ｍｏ担载量以及焙烧的温度的升高而增加，在高温焙烧下，Ｍｏ物种会使分子筛骨架严重脱铝，并且生成Ａｌ２（ＭｏＯ４）３新相，最终导致分子筛骨架塌陷，催化性能下降。     

Study of silica supported PtxNi1-x catalysts by ion scattering spectroscopy

As supported Pt_xNi_1–x catalysts are used for hydrogenation reactions, it seemed necessary to assess the surface composition of the reduced samples. To approach the usual reduction conditions we applied in situ reduction in a reaction chamber (1 mbar H₂ up to 500 °C) placed in ultra high vacuum recipient (UHV: 10^–9 to 2.10^–10mbar). All ion scattering spectroscopy measurements were performed in UHV. Charging of the samples was avoided by electron bombardment (5 eV). The variation of the surface composition was determined after subsequent sputtering, thermal treatment at 500 °C and during oxygen adsorption. A comparison with previous results of surface compositions of binary alloys (polycrystalline foils [1, 2] and single crystals Pt_xNi_1–x [3]) is given.Dedicated to Professor Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h. c. Gel routes to environmental catalysts

Various methods for the preparation of metal oxide catalysts for environmental control purposes are described. These include coprecipitation, sol-gel, and impregnation, and are used to prepare mixed oxide catalysts of the types SnO₂-MO₂ (M=Ce or Zr), SnO₂-Ln₂O₃ (Ln = lanthanide), Ln-doped CeO₂, Cr (VI)-doped SnO₂, and Cu(II)-doped SnO₂. The aggregation in stable colloidal sols of SnO₂, CeO₂ and ZrO₂ is dependent on the concentration of the metal oxide. Techniques for the characterisation of these catalyst materials include gas adsorption, X-ray diffraction, and TEM/EDXA.
