Effects of the preparation methods on the properties of Ni-La2O3-SiO2 catalysts for m -dinitrobenzene hydrogenation

Ni-La₂O₃-SiO₂ catalysts were prepared by wetness impregnation and sol-gel method followed by conventional drying and supercritical drying, respectively. Their physico-chemical properties and activity for the hydrogenation of m-dinitrobenzene to m-phenylenediamine were investigated by BET, XRD, TPR, H₂-TPD and activity tests. The results showed that the structural and catalytic properties of the Ni-La₂O₃-SiO₂ catalysts obviously depended on the preparation method and the drying mode. The catalyst prepared by the sol-gel method in combination with conventional drying exhibited the highest catalytic activity among the catalysts tested, attributable to its well-dispersed nickel particles and larger active nickel surface area.     

A new stereoselective synthesis of 2-amino-4,5-dihydrothiophene-3-carbonitrile derivatives

A new stereoselective method for the synthesis of trans-isomers of 2-amino-4-aryl-5-benzoyl-4,5-dihydrothiophene-3-carbonitriles was proposed. The method involves base-catalyzed reactions of phenacyl thiocyanate with 3-(het)aryl-2-cyanoprop-2-enethioamides. (4R,5S/4S,5R)-2-Amino-5-benzoyl-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-4,5-ihydrothiophene-3-carbonitrile was structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Structural control of dithiazolyl radicals: Case studies on 3′- and 4′-cyano-benzo-1,3,2-dithiazolyl, NCC6H3S2N

Dithiazolyl radicals with π-stacking motifs have attracted particular interest because of their ability to exhibit spin-switching between diamagnetic distorted π-stacks and paramagnetic regular π-stacked structures through a solid state phase transition. Previous studies indicate that inclusion of electronegative heteroatoms into the backbone favours lamellar structures. This methodology has been extended to the synthesis and characterisation of the title compound, 4′-cyanobenzo-1,3,2-dithiazolyl (4-NCBDTA). Its electronic structure is probed through DFT calculations, cyclic voltammetry and EPR spectroscopy and its crystal structure determined by X-ray powder diffraction at room temperature. Variable temperature SQUID magnetometry reveals that 4-NCBDTA undergoes two phase transitions, each exhibiting bistability; a high temperature phase transition occurs at room temperature (T_C↓ = 291 K, T_C↑ = 304 K, ΔT = 13 K); whilst the low temperature phase transition occurs below liquid nitrogen temperatures (T_C↓ = 37 K, T_C↑ = 28 K;ΔT = 9 K).     

The effect of B2O3 addition on the crystallization of amorphous TiO2-ZrO2 mixed oxide

The effect of B₂O₃ addition on the crystallization of amorphous TiO₂-ZrO₂ mixed oxide was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA). TiO₂-ZrO₂ mixed oxide was prepared by co-precipitation method with aqueous ammonia as the precipitation reagent. Boric acid was used as a source of boria, and boria contents varied from 2 to 20 wt%. The results indicate that the addition of small amount of boria (<8 wt%) hinders the crystallization of amorphous TiO₂-ZrO₂ into a crystalline ZrTiO₄ compound, while a larger amount of boria (?8 wt%) promotes the crystallization process. FT-IR spectroscopy and ¹¹B MAS NMR results show that tetrahedral borate species predominate at low boria loading, and trigonal borate species increase with increasing boria loading. Thus it is concluded that highly dispersed tetrahedral BO₄ units delay, while a build-up of trigonal BO₃ promote, the crystallization of amorphous TiO₂-ZrO₂ to form ZrTiO₄ crystals.     

甲烷氧化偶联Na2WO4-Mn/SiO2催化剂热效应的研究

采用固定床微型反应装置,研究了甲烷氧化偶联反应过程中Na2WO4-Mn/S iO2催化剂床层的热效应和催化性能的关系,考察了反应炉温、CH4/O2比和反应气体空速对催化剂床层热点分布的影响.研究结果表明,甲烷氧化偶联催化剂床层的热效应强烈依赖于反应条件.反应炉温越高,CH4/O2比越低,反应气体空速越大,催化剂床层的热点温度越高.结合催化性能和热效应关系的研究,为优化甲烷氧化偶联的反应操作提供了实验依据.     

Synthesis and electrochemical properties of spinel LiMn2O4 prepared by the rheological phase method

Pure-phase and well-crystallized spinel LiMn₂O₄ powders were successfully synthesized by a simple rheological phase method. The thermal behavior and structure properties of the powders prepared by the rheological phase method compared with the solid-state reaction were investigated by thermogravimetry, powder X-ray diffraction , scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. According to the results of the electrochemical tests, it is obvious that the sample resulting from the rheological phase method shows higher discharge capacity and better cycling stability than one formed in the solid-state reaction. The cyclic voltammogram and columbic efficiency curves also confirm that the product by the rheological phase method has a good cycling performance due to its fine cubic spinel structure and morphology.     

A rate enhancement of tert-butoxycarbonylation of aromatic amines with Boc2O in alcoholic solvents

A rate enhancement of tert-butoxycarbonylation of aromatic amines by Boc₂O in alcohols compared to aprotic solvents was demonstrated. Kinetic analysis by NMR suggested that the reaction in CD₃OD was faster than in CDCl₃ by a factor of 70. Reactions between Boc₂O and various aliphatic and aromatic amines in ethanol provided the N-Boc derivatives in good to excellent yields in short reaction times.     

An Efficient and High‐Yield One‐Pot Synthesis of Bis(oxazoline)s

An efficient and mild one‐pot synthesis of bis(oxazoline) (BOX) ligands is developed from reactions of dicarboxy dichlorides with β‐amino alcohols in the presence of 11.0 equiv. NEt₃ followed by the addition of 3.6 equiv. methanesulfonyl chloride (MsCl). Nine different BOX ligands were prepared in excellent yields of ≥ 80%. Advantages of this improved synthesis are mild reaction conditions, short total reaction time of 9 h, and high isolated yields.     

Cooperation of reducing species for NO reduction over Ag/Al2O3 under oxidizing conditions

Summary The cooperation effect of reducing species for selective reduction of NO over Ag/Al₂O₃ has been investigated in the presence of excess oxygen. When the combinations of propene or propane and ethanol or methanol were used as reducing agents, NO reduction took place over a wider temperature range, compared with a single hydrocarbon as reducing agent.     

Crystal structure of cobalt molybdate hydrate CoMoO4·nH2O

We have determined the crystal structure of the title compound, which has a triclinic cell with cell parameters of , , , α=76.617°, β=84.188°, γ=74.510° and space group . The crystal structure suggests the chemical formula CoMoO₄·3/4H₂O. The structure consists of MoO₄ tetrahedra and CoO₆ octahedra, confirming the earlier X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopic (XANES) investigation on the hydrate. The comparison of the crystal structures of the hydrate and the α-,β-, and hp-phases shows that the hydrate exhibits metal cation coordinations similar to those of the β-phase, but had arrangements of CoO₆ and MoO_n polyhedra similar to those of the hp-phase.
