We study fermionic zero modes in the self-dual vortex background on an extra two-dimensional Riemann surface in (5+1) dimensions. Using the generalized Abelian-Higgs model, we obtain the inner topological structure of the self-dual vortex and establish the exact self-duality equation with topological term. Then we analyze the Dirac operator on an extra torus and the effective Lagrangian of four-dimensional fermions with the self-dual vortex background. Solving the Dirac equation, the fermionic zero modes on a torus with the self-dual vortex background in two simple cases are obtained. 相似文献

Based on multiple scales method, we study the nonlinear properties of a new Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattice model analytically. It is found that the lattice chain exhibits a novel nonlinear elementary excitation, i.e. a dark soliton. Non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations have been performed to
investigate the effect of the cross-section shape on the thermal
conductivity of argon nanowires. Some typical cross-section shapes,
such as triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon and circle, are carefully
explored. The simulation results show that with the same
cross-sectional area of the regular polygons, the thermal
conductivities decrease with the reduction of the sides of the
polygons, and the thermal conductivity of the circular nanowire is
larger than those of the other polygonal ones. Phonon gas kinetic
theory is used to analyse the phonon transport in nanowires, and the
concept of equivalent diameter is proposed to illustrate the

In this paper we present some simulation results about the behaviour
of water molecules inside a single wall carbon nanotube (SWNT). We
find that the confinement of water in an SWNT can induce a wave-like
pattern distribution along the channel axis, similar phenomena are
also observed in biological water channels. Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)
can serve as simple nonpolar water channels. Molecular transport
through narrow CNTs is highly collective because of tight hydrogen
bonds in the protective environment of the pore. The hydrogen bond
net is important for proton and other signal transports. The average
dipoles of water molecules inside CNTs (7,7), (8,8) and (9,9) are
discussed in detail. Simulation results indicate that the states of
dipole are affected by the diameter of SWNT. The number of hydrogen
bonds, the water--water interaction and water--CNT interaction are

This paper proposes a scheme for teleporting a two-atom entangled
state using leaky cavities. It uses resonant atom--cavity interaction
to map the atomic state onto the cavity field. Then it utilizes the
interference of polarized photons to establish the correlation
between the distant sender and receiver. The advantage of the scheme
is that the fidelity is independent of the cavity decay rate, atomic

The algebraic energy method (AEM) is applied to the study of
molecular dissociation energy $D_e$ for 11 heteronuclear diatomic
electronic states: $a^3\Sigma^+$ state of NaK, $X^2\Sigma^+$ state
of XeBr, $X^2\Sigma^+$ state of HgI, $X^1\Sigma^+$ state of LiH,
$A^3\Pi(1)$ state of ICl, $X^1\Sigma^+$ state of CsH, $A(^3\Pi_1)$
and $B0^+(^3\Pi)$ states of ClF, $2^1\Pi$ state of KRb,
$X^1\Sigma^+$ state of CO, and $c^3\Sigma^+$ state of NaK molecule.
The results show that the values of $D_e$ computed by using the AEM
are satisfactorily accurate compared with experimental ones. The AEM
can serve as an economic and useful tool to generate a reliable
$D_e$ within an allowed experimental error for the electronic states
whose molecular dissociation energies are unavailable from the

We have studied the electric-field-driven motion of a polaron by solving the
time-dependent Schr\"{o}dinger equation nonadiabatically and the lattice
equation of motion simultaneously. It is found that the polaron may
experience two sequent transitions under high fields; one is the
transition from the subsonic to the supersonic state, and the other from the
supersonic to dissociated state. The acoustic mode is decoupled from the
charge when the polaron moves at a speed faster than the sound speed, and
then the optical mode is decoupled at the second transition to make the

This paper shows that waveguides induced by grey screening-photovoltaic solitons are always single mode for all intensity ratios, which are the ratio between the peak intensity of the soliton and the dark irradiance. It finds that the confined energy near the centre of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of the guided mode increase monotonically with increasing intensity ratio. On the other hand, when the soliton greyness increases, the confined energy near the centre of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of the guided mode reduce monotonically. When the bulk photovoltaic effect is neglected for short circuits, these waveguides become waveguides induced by grey screening solitons.
