THE PROBLEM OF LIMIT CYCLES FOR A LIENARD TYPE CUBIC SYSTEM

The purpose of this paper is to study a general Lienard type cubic system with one antisaddle and two saddles. We give some results of the existence and uniqueness of limit cycles as well as the evolution of limit cycles around the antisaddle for system (2) in the following when parameter a1 changes.

Synchronization of Chaotic Storage-Ring Free-Electron Laser by Bi-Directional Coupling Scheme with the Coupling Strength Varied Periodically

We analyse the chaotic dynamics of storage-ring free-electron lasers and report a bi-directional coupled scheme with the coupling strength varied periodically to synchronize two chaotic storage-ring free-electron lasers. The period is the same as the period of system＇s external modulation. ,The possibility of synchronization is proven according to the Lyapunov stability theory. The results of numerical simulation are obtained. Both the numerical simulation and theoretic analysis show that two storage-ring free-electron lasers can be controlled in the synchronization in a short time with this method.     

Excitation Properties of the Biological Neurons with Side-Inhibition Mechanism in Small-World Networks

We have studied the excitation properties of biophysical Hodgkin-Huxley neurons with the side-inhibition mechanism in small-world networks. The result shows that the excitation properties in the networks are preferably consistent with the characteristic properties of a brain neural system under external constant stimuli, such as fatigue effect, extreme excitation principle, and the brain neural excitation response induced by different in- tensity of noise and coupling. The results of the study might shed some light on the study of the brain nerve electrophysiology and epistemological science.     

COMPLETENESS OF THE PARABOLIC SUBGROUPS OF PROJECTIVE ORTHOGONAL GROUPS

All parabolic subgroups and Borel subgroups of PΩ(2m 1, F) over a linear-able field F of characteristic 0 are shown to be complete groups, provided m > 3.
