A Convenient Method to Obtain 4,5-Dihydro-1H-Methylpyrazoles by A Ring Transformation Reaction

A convenient method for the synthesis of alkyl[aryl]-substituted 5-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-1-methylpyrazole (2) from a new ring transformation reaction of alkyl[aryl]-substituted-5-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-1-pyrazolethiocarboxyamide (1) with methylhydrazine in THF, and the thermal dehydration of 2, are reported.     

Simple Strategy for Sulfonyl Ethynylogs of Coumarins

Synthesis of 3-(2-(phenylsulfonyl) ethynyl)-2H-chromen-2-one is described. Reaction of β-ketosulfones with semicarbazide hydrochloride in ethanol at reflux temperature gave the corresponding semicarbazones, which on oxidative cyclization with selenium dioxide resulted in the formation of the corresponding 1,2,3-selenodiazole derivatives. These on pyrolysis gave the titled compounds.

ZrOCl2•8H2O-Catalyzed One-Pot Multicomponent Synthesis of β′-Acetamido-β-dicarbonyl Compounds with Special Reference to pref-Selective β′-Acetamido-β-ketoesters

ZrOCl₂ · 8H₂O catalyzes the one-pot synthesis of β′-acetamido-β-dicarbonyl compounds in high yields from aldehyde, enolizable β-dicarbonyl compound, acetyl chloride, and acetonitrile in solvent as well as in solvent-free conditions. β′-Acetamido-β-ketoesters are formed in moderate to exclusive pref-diastereoselectivity.     

Highly Regioselective Conversion of Epoxides to β-Hydroxy Nitriles with Cyanide Exchange Resin

Abstract

A simple and regioselective method is described for the efficient conversion of epoxides to β-hydroxy nitriles using Amberlite IRA-400 supported cyanide. The reactions occur in the absence of catalyst and furnish the corresponding β-hydroxy nitriles in high yields.     

A Facile Synthesis of 2-Benzoyl-6-Hydroxy-3-Methyl-5-(2-Substituted-2,3-Dihydro-1H-1,5-Benzodiazepin-4-YL) Benzo[b]Furans

The synthesis and characterisation of some new 1,5-benzodiazepines prepared from 4,6-diacetylresorcinol is reported.     

Direct Esterification of Carboxylic Acids with Alcohols Catalyzed by Iron(III) Acetylacetonate Complex

Direct condensation of carboxylic acids and alcohols with electronic, steric, and functional group variations was carried out using the environmentally benign, moisture-stable, inexpensive, and recoverable iron(III) acetylacetonate [Fe(acac)₃] as catalyst (5 mol%). This iron salt efficiently catalyzed the esterification of several primary and secondary alcohols in refluxing xylene, without the need for a dehydration reagent. The chemoselectivity of the proposed protocol was demonstrated by the selective esterification of primary alcohol functionality in racemic 1-phenylethane-1,2-diol with benzoic acid. The esterification was also applicable to unmasked α -hydroxyacid, guasiaromatic, heterocyclic, and N-protected amino acids.

Synthesis of 3-Trifluoromethyl-Substituted Benzo[f]chromene Derivatives in a One-Pot Reaction

In the presence of 1,8-diazabicycolo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) and concentrated H₂SO₄, 2-naphthol reacted smoothly with α,β-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones in CH₂Cl₂ at room temperature, affording the 3-trifluoromethyl-substituted benzo[f]chromene derivatives in good to excellent yields in a one-pot reaction.

Facile and Efficient Method for the Synthesis of 14-Substituted-14-H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes Catalyzed by Ruthenium Chloride Hydrate as a Homogeneous Catalyst

Synthesis of dibenzoxanthenes through condensation of β-naphthol with various aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes in ethanol as an ecofriendly solvent using Ru^III as catalyst is reported.

Stereoselective Synthesis of Tricyclo[6.2.2.02,7]dodecane-3,6,9,10-tetrol via Selective Reduction of α,β-Unsaturated 1,4-DIKetone

Stereoselective synthesis of tricyclo[6.2.2.0^2,7]dodecane-3,6,9,10-tetrol was developed starting from p-benzoquinone. The endo selective Diels–Alder cycloaddition of p-benzoquinone and 1,3-cyclohexadiene afforded the corresponding bicyclic diketone. The synthesis of the title compound was based on the cycloadduct by selective reduction with NaBH₄, acetylation with AcCl, and hydroxylation with OsO₄-NMO.
