A set (or a collection of sets) contained in the Euclidean space Rm is symmetric if it is invariant under the antipodal map. Given a symmetric unicoherent polyhedron X (like an n-dimensional cube or a sphere) and an odd real function f defined on vertices of a certain symmetric triangulation of X, we algorithmically construct a connected symmetric separator of X by choosing a subcollection of the triangulation. There are few techniques available to numerically solve sixth-order boundary-value problems with two-point boundary conditions. In this paper we show that the Sinc-Galerkin method is a very effective tool in numerically solving such problems. The method is then tested on examples with homogeneous and nonhomogeneous boundary conditions and a comparison with the modified decomposition method is made. It is shown that the Sinc-Galerkin method yields better results.

A new definition for the symmetries of Itô and Stratonovich dynamicalsystem is given. Determining systems of symmetries for Itô andStratonovich systems have been obtained, and their relation has beendiscussed. It has been shown that some of the Lie point symmetries ofthe Fokker–Planck equation can be constructed using the symmetries ofItô dynamical systems. Haefliger has shown that a smooth embedding of the (4k−1)-sphere in the 6k-sphere can be knotted in the smooth sense. In this paper, we give a formula with which we can detect the isotopy class of such a Haefliger knot. The formula is expressed in terms of the geometric characteristics of an extension, analogous to a Seifert surface, of the given embedding. In particular, the Hopf invariant associated to the extension plays a crucial role. This leads us to a new characterisation of Haefliger knots.  相似文献

A new definition for the approximate symmetries of Itô dynamical system is given. Determining systems of approximate symmetries for Itô and Stratonovich dynamical systems have been obtained. It has been shown that approximate conservation laws can be found from the approximate symmetries of stochastic dynamical systems which do not arise from a Hamiltonian. The scattering of electrons by atomic copper has been studied using Born approximation and the concept of the generalized oscillator strength (GOS). Differential and total cross-sections for the excitation of the 3d10 4p2 P state are calculated at incident energies of 100 eV and are compared with other available experimental and theoretical data. The agreement between our calculation for the differential cross-section and the available experimental results is fairly good at the forward angles, while the agreement at large angles is poor. The calculated total cross-sections are compared with the experimental data and those predicted by several theories. It is found that our calculation for the total cross-sections are in a good agreement with the close coupling calculation of Msezane and Henry (1986a, Physical Review A 33, 1631) for incident energies greater than 20 eV. The integrated cross-section measurements of Ismail and Teubner (1995, Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics 28, 4164) are in good agreement with the present calculation.  相似文献
