Fix (not necessarily distinct) objects i and j of a locally small category S, and write \(S_{ij}\) for the set of all morphisms \(i\rightarrow j\). Fix a morphism \(a\in S_{ji}\), and define an operation \(\star _a\) on \(S_{ij}\) by \(x\star _ay=xay\) for all \(x,y\in S_{ij}\). Then \((S_{ij},\star _a)\) is a semigroup, known as a sandwich semigroup, and denoted by \(S_{ij}^a\). This article develops a general theory of sandwich semigroups in locally small categories. We begin with structural issues such as regularity, Green’s relations and stability, focusing on the relationships between these properties on \(S_{ij}^a\) and the whole category S. We then identify a natural condition on a, called sandwich regularity, under which the set \({\text {Reg}}(S_{ij}^a)\) of all regular elements of \(S_{ij}^a\) is a subsemigroup of \(S_{ij}^a\). Under this condition, we carefully analyse the structure of the semigroup \({\text {Reg}}(S_{ij}^a)\), relating it via pullback products to certain regular subsemigroups of \(S_{ii}\) and \(S_{jj}\), and to a certain regular sandwich monoid defined on a subset of \(S_{ji}\); among other things, this allows us to also describe the idempotent-generated subsemigroup \(\mathbb E(S_{ij}^a)\) of \(S_{ij}^a\). We also study combinatorial invariants such as the rank (minimal size of a generating set) of the semigroups \(S_{ij}^a\), \({\text {Reg}}(S_{ij}^a)\) and \(\mathbb E(S_{ij}^a)\); we give lower bounds for these ranks, and in the case of \({\text {Reg}}(S_{ij}^a)\) and \(\mathbb E(S_{ij}^a)\) show that the bounds are sharp under a certain condition we call MI-domination. An edge-colored graph G is proper connected if every pair of vertices is connected by a proper path. The proper connection number of a connected graph G, denoted by pc(G), is the smallest number of colors that are needed to color the edges of G in order to make it proper connected. In this paper, we obtain the sharp upper bound for pc(G) of a general bipartite graph G and a series of extremal graphs. Additionally, we give a proper 2-coloring for a connected bipartite graph G having δ(G) ≥ 2 and a dominating cycle or a dominating complete bipartite subgraph, which implies pc(G) = 2. Furthermore, we get that the proper connection number of connected bipartite graphs with δ ≥ 2 and diam(G) ≤ 4 is two. 相似文献

This paper proposes operational matrix of rth integration of Chebyshev wavelets. A general procedure of this matrix is given. Operational matrix of rth integration is taken as rth power of operational matrix of first integration in literature. But, this study removes this disadvantage of Chebyshev wavelets method. Free vibration problems of non-uniform Euler–Bernoulli beam under various supporting conditions are investigated by using Chebyshev Wavelet Collocation Method. The proposed method is based on the approximation by the truncated Chebyshev wavelet series. A homogeneous system of linear algebraic equations has been obtained by using the Chebyshev collocation points. The determinant of coefficients matrix is equated to the zero for nontrivial solution of homogeneous system of linear algebraic equations. Hence, we can obtain ith natural frequencies of the beam and the coefficients of the approximate solution of Chebyshev wavelet series that satisfied differential equation and boundary conditions. Mode shapes functions corresponding to the natural frequencies can be obtained by normalizing of approximate solutions. The computed results well fit with the analytical and numerical results as in the literature. These calculations demonstrate that the accuracy of the Chebyshev wavelet collocation method is quite good even for small number of grid points. 相似文献

An r-dynamic coloring of a graph G is a proper coloring c of the vertices such that |c(N(v))| ≥ min {r, deg(v)}, for each v ∈ V (G). The r-dynamic chromatic number of a graph G is the smallest k such that G admits an r-dynamic coloring with k colors. In this paper, we obtain the r-dynamic chromatic number of the line graph of helm graphs Hn for all r between minimum and maximum degree of Hn. Moreover, our proofs are constructive, what means that we give also polynomial time algorithms for the appropriate coloring. For , Skupień in 1966 obtained a connected graph in which some longest paths have no common vertex, but every longest paths have a common vertex. It is not known whether every longest paths in a connected graph have a common vertex and similarly for 4, 5, and longest path. Fujita et al. in 2015 give an upper bound on distance among longest paths in a connected graph. This article presents a large-scale longitudinal study of hundreds of students across the state of Kentucky that participated in a dual-focus mathematics intervention initiative when they were in the third grade. Rather than an exclusive focus on intervention, this initiative focused on both (i) high quality pull-out intervention and (ii) coherence between pull-out intervention and classroom instruction. The study found that over half of the third grade intervention students that participated in this initiative were classified as “novice” (the lowest possible performance category) on state standardized mathematics assessments at the end of the third grade. However, over the course of the following four years, the novice reduction rate of these students was significantly (p < .01) greater than other novices in Kentucky that did not participate in the initiative. These findings indicate that when implementing intervention initiatives to help students that are struggling with mathematics, it may be important to establish coherence between pull-out intervention and classroom instruction. The long term impact of this approach among traditionally underrepresented minorities suggest that this publication may provide insight into important equity issues where long-term analyses may sometimes be needed to capture the full impact of intervention initiatives. 相似文献

We define and investigate a uniformly locally o-minimal structure of the second kind in this paper. All uniformly locally o-minimal structures of the second kind have local monotonicity, which is a local version of monotonicity theorem of o-minimal structures. We also demonstrate a local definable cell decomposition theorem for definably complete uniformly locally o-minimal structures of the second kind.
