Study on structure change of carbon nanotubes depending on different reaction gases

Aligned carbon nanotubes were grown by plasma-enhanced hot filament chemical vapor deposition using different reaction gases and they were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It is found that the hollow carbon nanotubes were formed using methane and hydrogen as the reaction gases, but the bamboo-structured carbon nanotubes were grown when ammonia was added into the reaction gases, indicating that the structure of the aligned carbon nanotubes was changed depending on different reaction gases. On setting of diffusion of carbon, the effects of the nitrogenous gas on the structure change of carbon nanotubes are studied.     

On Romanoff's constant

In 1934, Romanoff proved that there are a positive proportion natural numbers which can be expressed as the sum of a prime and a power of 2. In this paper, a quantitative version of this theorem is given. We show that the proportion is larger than 0.0868 and for a positive proportion of odd integers the number of such representations is between 1 and 16.

On integers of the forms k−2 and k2+1

In this paper we prove that if (r,12)?3, then the set of positive odd integers k such that k^r−2ⁿ has at least two distinct prime factors for all positive integers n contains an infinite arithmetic progression. The same result corresponding to k^r2ⁿ+1 is also true.     

Delay-dependent stochastic stability of delayed Hopfield neural networks with Markovian jump parameters

In this paper, the problem of stochastic stability for a class of time-delay Hopfield neural networks with Markovian jump parameters is investigated. The jumping parameters are modeled as a continuous-time, discrete-state Markov process. Without assuming the boundedness, monotonicity and differentiability of the activation functions, some results for delay-dependent stochastic stability criteria for the Markovian jumping Hopfield neural networks (MJDHNNs) with time-delay are developed. We establish that the sufficient conditions can be essentially solved in terms of linear matrix inequalities.     

ESTIMATE OF THE UPPER CRITICAL FIELD AND CONCENTRATION FOR SUPERCONDUCTOR

The effect of an applied magnetic field on an inhomogeneous superconductor is studied and the value of the upper critical magnetic field Hc3 at which superconductivity can nucleate is estimated. In addition, the authors locate the concentration of the order parameter, which depends on the inhomogeneous term a(x). Unlikely to the homogeneous case, the order parameter may concentrate in the interior of the superconducting material, due to the influence of the inhomogeneous term a(x).     

A new alternating‐direction finite element method for hyperbolic equation

A modified backward difference time discretization is presented for Galerkin approximations for nonlinear hyperbolic equation in two space variables. This procedure uses a local approximation of the coefficients based on patches of finite elements with these procedures, a multidimensional problem can be solved as a series of one‐dimensional problems. On the limit cycles of a quintic planar vector field

This paper concerns the number and distributions of limit cycles in a Z_2-equivariant quintic planar vector field.25 limit cycles are found in this special planar polynomial system and four different configurations of these limit cycles are also given by using the methods of the bifurcation theory and the qualitative analysis of the differential equation.It can be concluded that H(5)≥25=5~2, where H(5)is the Hilbert number for quintic polynomial systems.The results obtained are useful to study the weakened 16th Hilbert problem.
