The addition of nano-sized ceramic particles to the plastic crystal ethyl-methyl pyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl)amide (P12TFSA) has been investigated by means of DSC and conductivity. The thermal behaviour of the plastic crystal as a function of filler content suggests that the filler particles decrease the onset temperature of the melting slightly at high loadings, however they do not decrease the crystallinity of the material. Furthermore, the IV → III transition decreases in intensity, indicating that the addition of filler increases the possibility for the crystal to remain in metastable rotator phases also at lower temperatures. The conductivity shows a more than one order of magnitude increase with the addition of filler, with a filler concentration dependence that levels out above ∼ 10 wt.% TiO2. 相似文献

A review is made of a two-point closure approximation called Lagrangian renormalized approximation (LRA), which is derived by a simple truncation of systematic Lagrangian renormalized expansions and is free from any ad hoc adjusting parameters or quantities. Emphasis is given to three key ideas: (i) representative, (ii) mapping and (iii) renormalized expansion underlying the LRA. The nature of the method of the expansion is explained by simple models, and general properties of the expansion as well as the truncated approximation are discussed in a general framework. Viscous waves and waves over a submerged cylinder in a stationary tank are simulated using a volume-of-fluid numerical scheme on adaptive hierarchical grids. A high resolution interface-capturing method is used to advect the free surface interface and the Navier–Stokes equations are discretised using finite volumes with collocated primitive variables and solved using a Pressure Implicit with Splitting of Operators (PISO) algorithm. The cylinder is modelled by using the technique of Cartesian cut cells. Results of flow of a single fluid past a cylinder at Reynolds number Re=100 are presented and found to agree well with experimental and other numerical data. Viscous free surface waves in a tank are simulated using uniform and quadtree grids for Reynolds numbers in the range from 2 to 2000, and the results compared against analytical solutions where available. The quadtree-based results are of the same accuracy as those on the equivalent uniform grids, and retain a sharp interface at the free surface while leading to considerable savings in both storage and CPU requirements. The nonlinearity in the wave is investigated for a selection of initial wave amplitudes. A submerged cylinder is positioned in the tank and its influence on the waves as well as the hydrodynamic loading on the cylinder is investigated. 相似文献

To evaluate the mechanical strength of fiber-reinforced composites it is necessary to consider singular stresses at the end of fibers because they cause crack initiation, propagation, and final failure. The singular stress field is controlled by generalized stress intensity factor (GSIF) defined at the fiber end. In this study, periodic and zigzag arrays of cylindrical inclusions under longitudinal tension are considered in comparison with the results for a single fiber. The unit cell region is approximated as an axi-symmetric cell; then, the body force method is applied, which requires the stress and displacement fields due to ring forces in infinite bodies having the same elastic constants as those of the matrix and inclusions. The given problem is solved on the superposition of two auxiliary problems under different boundary conditions. To obtain the GSIF accurately, the unknown body force densities are expressed as piecewise smooth functions using fundamental densities and power series. Here, the fundamental densities are chosen to represent the symmetric stress singularity, and the skew-symmetric stress singularity. The GSIFs are systematically calculated with varying the elastic modulus ratio and spacing of fibers. The effects of volume fraction and spacing of fibers are discussed in fiber-reinforced plastics. 相似文献

The vibration and buckling of an infinite shear beam-column, which considers the effects of shear and the axial compressive force, resting on an elastic foundation have been investigated when the system is subjected to moving loads of either constant amplitude or harmonic amplitude variation with a constant advance velocity. Damping of a linear hysteretic nature for the foundation was considered. Formulations in the transformed field domains of time and moving space were developed, and the response to moving loads of constant amplitude and the steady-state response to moving harmonic loads were obtained using a Fourier transform. Analyses were performed to examine how the shear deformation of the beam and the axial compression affect the stability and vibration of the system, and to investigate the effects of various parameters, such as the load velocity, load frequency, shear rigidity, and damping, on the deflected shape, maximum displacement, and critical values of the velocity, frequency, and axial compression. In this paper, the mixed-mode crack problem for a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) strip is considered. It is assumed that the electroelastic properties of the strip vary continuously along the thickness of the strip, and that the strip is under in-plane electric loading. The problem is formulated in terms of a system of singular integral equations.
