Analysis of Low-energy α-4He Elastic Scattering Process in Direct Channel Regge-Pole Formalism

The elastic scattering of low-energy α-particles by a ⁴He target has been analysed within the frame-work of a modified Regge-Pole model which reproduces the partial wave phaseshifts in an elegant and simple way and describes all other relevant features of the scattering phenomena.     

Electron spin resonance in X-irradiated β-alanine

Electron spin resonance spectra of X-irradiated powder and single crystal samples of β-alanine do not exhibit any change following several recrystallizations. This negative finding is contrary to a published report.

Computer studies on the space charge dependence of avalanche zone width and conversion efficiency,of single driftp +nn+ andn +pp+ indium phosphide impatts

The effect of mobile space charge on avalanche zone width and conversion efficiency of single drift region (SDR) indium phosphide impatts at 12 and 60 GHz has been investigated. The results show thatp ⁺nn⁺ InP diodes have a narrower avalanche zone and a higher conversion efficiency compared ton ⁺pp⁺ diodes for both the frequencies at normal operating current densities. The expansion of avalanche zone and efficiency degradation at high current levels are more pronounced inp ⁺nn⁺ at 12 GHz and inn ⁺pp⁺ at 60 GHz.     

On the theory of electron tunnelling

A generalized expression for the differntial tunnelling current density based on the problem of electron energy distribution introduced during the process has been presented. This is directly applicable to junction devices for the evaluation of their tunnelling I–V characteristics. A list of symbols appear at the end of the paper.     

A hybrid approach to discrete mathematical programming

The dynamic programming and branch-and-bound approaches are combined to produce a hybrid algorithm for separable discrete mathematical programs. Linear programming is used in a novel way to compute bounds. Every simplex pivot permits a bounding test to be made on every active node in the search tree. Computational experience is reported.     

Loop Algebra of Lie symmetries for a short-wave equation

It is demonstrated that Lie point symmetries associated with a nonlinear equation for short waves in three dimensions generate an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra—a loop Algebra. Classification of the independent sets of the subalgebra is done through the adjoint action of the corresponding generators. Different forms of similarity solutions are discussed.     

An electron fluid model for the lattice dynamics of metals

An electron fluid model is proposed for the lattice dynamics of metals which satisfies the requirement of translational invariance and the lattice is in equilibrium without recourse to external forces. The model is applied to calculate the phonon dispersion of sodium in the symmetry directions.
