For the semi-infinite Ising model in two or more dimensions, we prove analyticity properties of the surface free energy and map out the phase diagram in the absence of an external magnetic field. We prove that this phase diagram contains critical lines where the parallel and/or the transverse correlation lengths diverge. The critical exponent,v , of the transverse correlation length is shown to be equal to the exponentv of the Ising model on an infinite lattice. In a second paper, these results will be used to analyze the wetting transition.  相似文献

Scalability and coherence are two essential requirements for the experimental implementation of quantum information and quantum computing. Here, we report a breakthrough toward scalability: the simultaneous generation of a record 15 quadripartite entangled cluster states over 60 consecutive cavity modes (Q modes), in the optical frequency comb of a single optical parametric oscillator. The amount of observed entanglement was constant over the 60 Q modes, thereby proving the intrinsic scalability of this system. The number of observable Q modes was restricted by technical limitations, and we conservatively estimate the actual number of similar clusters to be at least 3 times larger. This result paves the way to the realization of large entangled states for scalable quantum information and quantum computing.  相似文献

The inspection of fast rotating objects with rough surfaces is an important task in the emerging field of process control. However, this is challenging since fast and non-contact inspection techniques with a measurement uncertainty in the nanometer range are often required. We present a novel optical sensor allowing non-incremental interferometric displacement measurement of moving solid state objects with rough surfaces. It features three wavelength coded interference fringe systems which are superposed slightly tilted. The displacement is determined by evaluating the phase shift between the resulting scattered light signals. Experimentally, a measurement uncertainty of 660 nm was obtained. This displacement uncertainty is independent of the lateral object velocity in principle. Due to this unique feature, the sensor can be utilized advantageously for precise displacement and vibration measurements of high speed objects as demonstrated by vibration measurements at a turbo pump shaft rotating with 48 000 rpm.  相似文献

We describe the problem of the equivalence of ensembles at the level of states for classical lattice systems. We discuss circumstances where the vanishing of the specific information gain of a sequence of microcanonical measures with respect to a sequence of grand canonical measures implies the equivalence of ensembles. We give a simple derivation of a criterion for the vanishing of the specific information gain in terms of thermodynamic functions. The proof uses ideas from the theory of large deviations but is self-contained. We show how the criterion works in a simple model of a paramagnet and in the Ising model of a ferromagnet in any dimension but fails in the case of the Curie-Weiss mean-field model.  相似文献

Cytoplasmic dynein is a microtubule-activated ATPase which produces force towards the minus ends of microtubules. It is thought to be responsible for retrograde axonal transport and other aspects of organelle motility and may have a role in the poleward movement of mitotic chromosomes. Cytoplasmic dynein is an oligomeric complex of two catalytic heavy chains and a number of accessory subunits. We now report the cloning and sequencing of a complementary DNA for one of these species, a cytoplasmic dynein-associated polypeptide of relative molecular mass 150,000 (Mr 150K). A full-length cDNA was found to contain an open reading frame of 4.0 kilobases, which is predicted to encode a polypeptide of Mr 145K. It has extensive homology with the product of the Drosophila gene Glued, which encodes a polypeptide of Mr 148K. The Glued mutation is dominant, with pleiotropic developmental defects in heterozygotes and an embryonic lethal phenotype in homozygotes. As dominant mutations may involve disruption of normal protein-protein interactions, the Glued mutation should provide insight into the mode of action of cytoplasmic dynein in vivo.  相似文献

The structure of the electronic ground- and first excited state of mono-hydroxy [2.2]paracyclophane (MHPC) and the S(1)← S(0) electronic transition have been investigated by resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionisation (REMPI) and by quantum chemical spin-component-scaled-approximate coupled cluster second order (SCS-CC2) computations. The origin of the S(1)← S(0) transition was located at 30,772 cm(-1) (3.815 eV) in the REMPI spectrum. The value has to be compared with a computed excitation energy of 3.79 eV. The vibrational structure of the spectrum confirms a significant geometry change upon excitation along the coordinates corresponding to twist- and shift-motions in the molecule. It gives rise to an experimentally observed progression with a fundamental of +30 cm(-1) and an inverse anharmonicity. From the experimental data a shallow potential along the twist coordinate was derived for the S(1) state. For the shift vibration a wavenumber of +91 cm(-1) was observed, while +85 cm(-1) was computed. The ionisation energy of MHPC was determined to be 7.63 ± 0.05 eV using synchrotron radiation. When compared to earlier results on the parent compound [2.2]paracyclophane and pseudo-ortho-dihydroxy[2.2]paracyclophane it can be seen that already small variations in the substitution pattern have a significant impact on the shapes of the involved potential energy surfaces leading to strong variations in ground and excited state geometries and opto-electronic properties governing the exciton transfer processes.  相似文献
