Cyclohexanones--Source for Selena/Thiadiazoles and Diazaphospholes

Some new heterocyclic compounds containing selenadiazole, thiadiazole and diazaphosphole fused to cyclohexanones have been prepared and characterized by spectral data.

A Simple Approach to the Synthesis of Fluoren-9-Ones

Cyclohexene-l-Carboxylic acid (I) undergoes reaction with various aromatic substrates (2a-i) in presence of Polyphosphoric acid (PPA) at 100[ddot]c to give cis-1,2,3,4,4a,9a - hexahydrofluoren-9-ones (3a-i) in good yield. Dehydrogenation of (3a-i) with selenium powder afforded corresponding fluoren-9-ones (4a-i) in high yield.

Abstract

Regiospecific Functionalization of Cyclic Allenes with Catecholeorane

Reaction of diborane¹ and disiamylborane² with cyclic allenes, resulted in the formation of a mixture of products resulting from the addition of boron at the central carbon as well as terminal carbon. A Novel and Convenient Synthesis of E,E-bis(Styryl) sulfones and E,E-1,4-Diaryl-1,3-butadienes

The condensation of 2-phenylethanesulfonylacetic acid (4) with araldehydes (5) in presence of a base gave E-styryl-2-phenylethyl sulfones (6) which on dehydrogenation with DDQ (7) yielded E,E-bis-(styrl)sulfones (8). The 8 on treatment with dichlorotris(triphenyl-phosphine)ruthenium(II) catalyst resulted 1,4-diaryl-1,3-butadienes (9). The configurations of 6, 8 and 9 have been determined based on IR and ¹H NMR spectral data.
