Asymptotic Behaviors for Critical Branching Processes with Immigration

In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic behaviors of the critical branching process with immigration {Z_n, n ≥ 0}. First we get some estimation for the probability generating function of Zn. Based on it, we get a large deviation for Z_(n+1)/Z_n. Lower and upper deviations for Zn are also studied. As a by-product, an upper deviation for max_(1≤i≤n) Z_i is obtained.

Potential Hydrothermal-Humification of Vegetable Wastes by Steam Explosion and Structural Characteristics of Humified Fractions

In this work, steam explosion (SE) was exploited as a potential hydrothermal-humification process of vegetable wastes to deconstruct their structure and accelerate their decomposition to prepare humified substances. Results indicated that the SE process led to the removal of hemicellulose, re-condensation of lignin, degradation of the cellulosic amorphous region, and the enhancement of thermal stability of broccoli wastes, which provided transformable substrates and a thermal-acidic reaction environment for humification. After SE treatment, total humic substances (HS), humic acids (HA_s), and fulvic acids (FA_s) contents of broccoli samples accounted for up to 198.3 g/kg, 42.3 g/kg, and 166.6 g/kg, and their purification were also facilitated. With the increment of SE severity, structural characteristics of HA_s presented the loss of aliphatic compounds, carbohydrates, and carboxylic acids and the enrichment of aromatic structures and N-containing groups. Lignin substructures were proved to be the predominant aromatic structures and gluconoxylans were the main carbohydrates associated with lignin in HA_s, both of their signals were enhanced by SE. Above results suggested that SE could promote the decomposition of easily biodegradable matters and further polycondensation, aromatization, and nitrogen-fixation reactions during humification, which were conducive to the formation of HA_s.     

Surface-enhanced resonant Raman spectroscopy (SERRS) of single-walled carbon nanotubes absorbed on the Ag-coated anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) surface

In this paper, we developed a new kind of substrate, the silver-coated anodic aluminum oxide (AAO), to investigate the characters of surface-enhanced resonant Raman scattering (SERRS) of the dilute single-walled carbon nanotubes. Homogeneous Ag-coated AAO substrate was obtained by decomposing the AgNO₃ on the surface of AAO. single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were directly grown onto this substrate through floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition method (CVD). SERRS of SWNTs was carried out using several different wavelength lasers. The bands coming from metallic SWNTs were significantly enhanced. The two SERRS mechanisms, the “electromagnetic” and “chemical” mechanism, were mainly responsible for the experiment results.

Asymptotic stability of viscous shock wave profiles for viscous conservation laws

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic stability of travelling wave solution to the two-dimensional steady isentropic irrotational flow with artificial viscosity. We prove that there exists a unique travelling wave solution up to a shift to the system if the end states satisfy both the Rankine–Hugoniot condition and Lax's shock condition, and that the travelling wave solution is stable if the initial disturbance is small.     

Gain-clamped dual-stage L-band EDFA by using backward C-band ASE

A dual-stage L-band gain-clamped erbium-doped fiber amplifier (GC-EDFA) by using backward C-band amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) is proposed. Compared with other similar GC-EDFAs, the proposed structure has higher and flatter clamped gain in L-band because of its optimal pump power and EDF length. The flatness from 1570 nm to 1600 nm arrives 0.77 dB, the bandwidth of 3 dB is more than 35 nm and the maximal input signal power arrives −15 dBm.
