A new concept of a chemically deactivatable quencher is proposed for a FRET-based probe that turns-on its fluorescence by either an enzymatic cleavage or a chemical reagent (sodium dithionite). Magnetic properties of nitroxide radicals can be greatly affected by solvent effects. In this study, the change of the magnetic exchange interaction J, coupling the two unpaired electrons of a model solvated antiferromagnetic bis-iminyl-nitroxide molecule (2IN), is rationalized thanks to different geometric and electronic criteria provided by density functional theory calculations. It is shown that for a given geometry, simple tools can be used to analyze with good accuracy the dependence of J with the solvent polarity. Estimates of two important magnetic parameters are given: the magnetic orbitals exchange and the in-site energy gap between ionic and neutral configurations. 2IN can be engaged in different hydrogen-bonds with first shell water molecules, modifying both the 2IN geometry and the electrostatic potential felt by the molecule. In all, the additivity of electrostatic and hydrogen-bond solvent effects is found to be responsible for J variations as large as 50%.  相似文献

The AnP(2)O(7) diphosphates (An = Th, U, Np, Pu) have been synthesized by various routes depending on the stability of the An(IV) cation and its suitability for the unusual octahedral environment. Synchrotron and X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, Raman spectroscopy, and (31)P nuclear magnetic resonance reveal them as a new family of diphosphates which probably includes the recently studied CeP(2)O(7). Although they adopt at high temperature the same cubic archetypal cell as the other known MP(2)O(7) diphosphates, they differ by a very faint triclinic distortion at room temperature that results from an ordering of the P(2)O(7) units, as shown using high-resolution synchrotron diffraction for UP(2)O(7). The uncommon triclinic-cubic phase transition is first order, and its temperature is very sensitive to the ionic radius of An(IV). The conflicting effects which control the thermal variations of the P-O-P angle are responsible for a strong expansion of the cell followed by a contraction at higher temperature. This inversion of expansion occurs at a temperature significantly higher than the phase transition, at variance with the parent compounds with smaller M(IV) cations in which the two phenomena coincide. As shown by various approaches, the P-O(b)-P linkage remains bent in the cubic form.  相似文献

Reaction of the n = 3 Ruddlesden-Popper oxychloride Sr(4)Mn(3)O(7.5)Cl(2) with calcium hydride yields the topotactically reduced phase Sr(4)Mn(3)O(6.5)Cl(2). The deintercalation of oxide ions from the central MnO(1.5) layer of the starting phase is accompanied by a rearrangement of the anion lattice, resulting in a layer of composition MnO(0.5) in the reduced material, consisting of chains of MnO(4) tetrahedra connected by edge and corner sharing. Magnetization and low-temperature neutron diffraction data are consistent with antiferromagnetic coupling of manganese spins, but no long-range magnetic order is observed down to 5 K, presumably due to the large interlayer separation in the reduced phase. The influence of anion substitution on the structural selectivity of low-temperature reduction reactions is discussed.  相似文献

A catalytic synthesis of novel biaryl-linked divalent glycosides was achieved using an electroreductive palladium-catalyzed iodoaryl-iodoaryl coupling reaction. This new method was optimized for the synthesis of divalent biaryl-linked mannopyranosides that was subsequently generalized toward several carbohydrate substrates with yields up to 96%.  相似文献

The non-equilibrium free energy theorems show how distributions of work along non-equilibrium paths are related to free energy differences between the equilibrium states at the end points of these paths. In this paper we develop a natural way of barostatting a system and give the first deterministic derivation of the Crooks and Jarzynski relations for these isothermal isobaric systems. We illustrate these relations by applying them to molecular dynamics simulations of a model polymer undergoing stretching.  相似文献
