We report the design and synthesis of well-defined polymers for the noncovalent oligomerization of proteins. The reported scaffolds, which were generated by atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), take advantage of the well-characterized interaction between a Ni2+ complex and an oligohistidine sequence (His tag). Thus, our polymers are designed to facilitate the oligomerization of any protein possessing a His tag. We demonstrate that they can oligomerize fibroblast growth factor-8b (FGF-8b) and promote FGF-8b-mediated cell proliferation in the absence of heparin. 相似文献

A diphenylacetylene containing two different end groups (isonitrile and thioacetate) was synthesized, showing that the chemistry used to install each end group is compatible with that of the others. The isonitrile group binds preferentially to platinum, and the thiol group binds preferentially to gold. Linear conductance across a large quantum dot via a single level epsilon(0) with large hybridization to the contacts is strongly sensitive to quasibound states localized in the dot and weakly coupled to epsilon(0). The conductance oscillates with the gate voltage due to interference of the Fano type. At low temperature and Coulomb blockade, Kondo correlations damp the oscillations on an extended range of gate voltage values, by freezing the occupancy of the epsilon(0) level itself. As a consequence, the antiresonances of Fano origin are washed out. The results are in good correspondence with experimental data for a large quantum dot in the semiopen regime. 相似文献

Tin oxide thin films prepared by thermal oxidation of Sn films were used for the detection of chlorinated methanes (CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and CCl4). This resulted in better chemical selectivity, sensitivity, response speed and detection limit than seen with previous detectors. The temperature dependence of the sensing of 1% CCl4 gas was studied and the best sensing behavior was observed at 300 degrees C. The films showed different chemical selectivity in both speed and direction of sensing response to each gas and were stable for more than 3 weeks under operating conditions. The films showed rapid gas sensing (<40 s to reach 90% of full response) and low detection limits (< 4 ppm CCl4). The role of oxygen in the detection of chlorinated methanes and in resistance changes without chlorinated methanes was also studied. The changes at the surface of the film after gas sensing were examined using scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry. 相似文献

The composition of bile acids, sterols and sterones in water and sludge from an urban sewage treatment plant has been examined for assessment of the possible use of these compounds as pollution biomarkers. Samples were solvent-extracted, hydrolysed, and fractionated by column chromatography to separate acids, hydrocarbons, sterones and sterols. These fractions, except hydrocarbons, were methylated (acids only) and silylated for instrumental analysis. Gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric analysis was performed in the electron-impact mode, using a non-polar capillary column. Lithocholic acids (3alpha- and 3beta-epimers), coprostanone, coprostanol, cholesterol, cholestenone, and cholestanone were found in sludge and all waters. However, the waters after secondary plant treatment contained mainly lithocholic acids epimers and coprostanone, pointing to these compounds as potential markers for urban treatment plant effluents in natural waters courses. 相似文献

The two-neutron halo nucleus (14)Be has been investigated in a kinematically complete measurement of the fragments ((12)Be and neutrons) produced in dissociation at 35 MeV/nucleon on C and Pb targets. Two-neutron removal cross sections, neutron angular distributions, and invariant mass spectra were measured, and the contributions from electromagnetic dissociation (EMD) were deduced. Comparison with three-body model calculations suggests that the halo wave function contains a large nu(2s(1/2))(2) admixture. The EMD invariant mass spectrum exhibited enhanced strength near threshold consistent with a nonresonant soft-dipole excitation. 相似文献

Extremely broadband emission is obtained from semiconductor optical amplifiers-superluminescent diodes with nonidentical quantum wells made of InGaAsP/InP materials. The well sequence is experimentally shown to have a significant influence on the emission spectra. With the three In(0.67) Ga(0.33) As(0.72) P(0.28) quantum wells near the n -cladding layer and the two In(0.53) Ga(0.47) As quantum wells near the p -cladding layer, all bounded by In(0.86) Ga(0.14) As(0.3)P(0.7) barriers, the emission spectrum could cover from less than 1.3 to nearly 1.55 microm, and the FWHM could be near 300 nm. 相似文献
