Mode hopping in single-mode microchip Nd：YAG lasers induced by optical feedback

The mode hopping phenomenon induced by optical feedback in single-mode microchip Nd：YAG lasers is presented. With optical feedback, mode hopping strongly depends on two factors： the ratio of external cavity length to intra-cavity length, and initial gains of the two hopping modes, When external cavity length equals an integral multiple of intracavity length, there is almost no mode hopping. However, if the external cavity length does not equal an integral multiple of intra-cavity length, mode hopping occurs. The ratio of external cavity length to intra-cavity length determines the position of two-mode hopping, The initial gains of the two hopping modes determine the corresponding peak values and oscillating periods of them in the intensity modulation curves.     

光回馈Nd:YAG激光器中的多模跳变现象

研究了Nd:YAG激光器中光回馈引起的多模跳变现象.光回馈调制了激光器不同纵模的阈值增益，阈值增益最低的纵模获得振荡.在外腔调谐过程中，当振荡模式的阈值增益高于相邻模式的阈值增益时产生模跳变，光强调制曲线出现相应的波动.各跳变纵模在增益曲线上的位置不同，导致模跳变点位置不同，相应的光强调制曲线也不同.越靠近中心频率的纵模，其光强信号峰值越大，该纵模持续振荡时间也就越长.当两跳变纵模关于中心频率对称时，其光强信号峰值相等，纵模持续振荡时间也相等. 关键词： 自混合干涉 模跳变 光回馈 阈值增益     

基于猫眼腔镜损耗调节的激光横模演示系统

提出一种基于猫眼腔镜损耗调节的新型激光横模演示系统。采用半外腔He-Ne激光器,利用由分立的可进行五维微调的凸透镜和凹面镜组成的猫眼逆向器构成损耗可调激光谐振腔,通过调节猫眼逆向器改变激光谐振腔的损耗比，实现改变激光横模状态的作用。利用CCD进行图像采集，计算机实现图像存储，从而得到20多种结构清晰的高阶横模花样图片。     

Influence of Feedback Levels on Polarized Optical Feedback Characteristics in Zeeman-Birefringence Dual Frequency Lasers

The influence of feedback levels on the intensity and polarization properties of polarized optical feedback in a Zeeman-birefringence dual frequency laser is systematically investigated. By changing the feedback power ratio, different feedback levels are obtained. Three distinct regimes of polarized optical feedback effects are found and defined as regimes Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ The feedback level boundaries among the regimes are acquired experimentally. The theoretical analysis is presented to be in good agreement with the experimental results.     

Laser Micro-beam Manipulation System for Cells

This paper introduces a laser micro-beam system for cells manipulation. The laser micro-beam system comprises a laser scissors and a laser tweezers, which are focused by a Nd∶YAG laser and a He-Ne laser through a microscope objective, respectively. Not only the overall design of the laser micro-beam system is discussed, but also the design and choice of the critical components. A laser micro-beam system was constructed and anticipated experiment results were gained. Yeast cells can be successfully manipulated with the laser tweezers. Chromosomes can be successfully incised with the laser scissors.     

A Novel Tunable Dual-frequency Laser with Large Frequency Difference

This paper proposed a novel tunable dual frequency laser with large frequency difference,which used LD to pump the Nd∶YAG microchip in the end surface and put the liquid pressure on the radial direction of the crystal by a pressure-transporting thin film. As a result of the stress birefringence, there was a mode splitting phenomenon of the microchip laser longitudinal mode. Both theoretical analysis and experiments indicated that there is a directly proportional relation between the frequency difference and the pressure, so the tunable frequency difference could be obtained when the pressure was changed. A large frequency difference of about 3.4 GHz with linear tunable relation was achieved in the experiment,so it can be a practical light source for the absolute distance interferometry.     

快速富里埃变换在解析γ能谱中的应用

一、引言关于用电子计算机解析、识别NaI(Tl)闪烁γ能谱的数据、同位素等方面的理论、程序以及应用等等,早已有大量的文献报导。目前,通常解析γ能谱基本可归纳如下三种方法:(1)剥谱法:分析的数据不甚精确,很少应用;(2)响应矩阵法:相当准确,但当γ能谱响应矩阵庞大时,运算极为繁复;(3函数拟合法:能精确地描述蜂形,但必须引入大量的拟合参数,给函数拟合带来许多实际困难。Cooley等人从数学观点考虑,早已提出了快速富里埃变换(Fast Fourier Transform——简称FFT)算法,使有N~2次运算可减少到Nlog_2N次运算。     

Strong optical feedback in birefringent dual frequency laser

Strong optical feedback in a birefringent dual frequency He--Ne laser with a high reflectivity feedback mirror has been investigated for the first time. The output characteristics of two orthogonally polarized modes are demonstrated in two different optical feedback cases: one is for both modes being fed back and the other is for only one of the modes being fed back. Strong mode competition can be observed between the two modes with strong optical feedback. And when one mode's intensity is near its maximum, the other mode is nearly extinguished. When both modes are fed back into the laser cavity, the mode competition is stronger than when only one mode is fed back. The difference in initial intensity between the two orthogonally polarized modes plays an important role in the mode competition, which has been experimentally and theoretically demonstrated.     

Intensity modulation in single-mode microchip Nd：YAG lasers with asymmetric external cavity

Intensity modulation induced by the asymmetric external cavity in single-mode microchip Nd:YAG lasers is presented. Two kinds of experimental results are discussed based on multiple feedback effects. In one case, the intensity modulation curve is a normal sine wave, whose fringe frequency is four times higher than that of a conventional optical feedback system, caused by multiple feedback effects. In the other case, the intensity modulation curve is the overlapping of the above quadruple-frequency signal and conventional optical feedback signal, which is determined by the additional phase difference induced by the asymmetric external cavity. The theoretical analyses are in good agreement with the experimental results. The quadruple-frequency modulation of the laser output intensity can greatly increase the resolution of displacement measurement of an optical feedback system.
