The decomposition reaction of the purple dye murexide in acidic media is used as a probe indicator for protons in nonionic microemulsions. The reaction kinetics primarily rely on the proton concentration and permit assessment of the proton activity in the nonionic microemulsions of water/cyclohexane/Igepal and water/heptane/Igepal. The experiments performed in the two microemulsions covered a wide range of water-to-oil mass fraction for the two systems. The kinetic runs were monitored under pseudo-first order conditions by the stopped-flow technique. The equilibrium constants for the formation of purpuric acid and the kinetic constants for the ensuing decomposition reaction fulfill a trend consistent with the micro compartmentalized nature of the multicomponent medium, and support the use of murexide as an indicator of the proton activity in microemulsions. 相似文献

Reactions of [MCl2(L-L)], M = Pt, Pd; L-L = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (dppm) or bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe), with NaC5H4SN in a 1 : 2 molar ratio lead to mononuclear species [M(S-C5H4SN)2(P-P)], M = Pt; L-L = dppm (1) or dppe (2) and M = Pd; L-L = dppe (3), as well as to the dinuclear [Pd2(micro2-S,N-C5H4SN)(micro2-kappa2S-C5H4SN)(micro2-dppm)(S-C5H4SN)2] (4). In contrast, reaction of [MCl2(dppm)] with NaC5H4SN in a 1 : 1 molar ratio leads to [Pd2(micro2-S,N-C5H4SN)3(micro2-dppm)]Cl (5) and trans-[Pt(S-C5H4SN)2(PPh2Me)2] (6) respectively. The latter is formed in low yield by cleavage of the dppm ligand. The dinuclear derivatives 4 and 5 present an A-frame and lantern structure, respectively. The former showing three different co-ordination modes in the same molecule with a short Pd-Pd distance of 2.9583 (9) A and the latter with three bridging S,N thionate ligands showing a shorter Pd-Pd distance of 2.7291 (13) A. The photochemistry of 2,4,6-triphenylthiapyrylium, TPTP+, in an ionic liquid, bmim-PF6, and in zeolite Y has been investigated and compared. Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to characterize the singlet excited state and to demonstrate singlet quenching by dicyclopentadiene, DCP, as an electron donor. Time-resolved laser spectroscopy documents generation of the triplet excited state, 3TPTP+, and reduction by DCP, generating the corresponding radical, TPTP*, and radical ion, DCP+*. Water-soluble atmospheric particulate matter was analyzed for pH, conductivity and inorganic ions: Mg(2+), Ca(2+), K(+), Na(+), NH(4)(+), Cl(-), NO(3)(-) and SO(4)(2-) by ion-chromatography. In order to get a deeper insight on the atmospheric data and assess the 'optimal' number of pollution sources, principal component analysis and cluster analysis were applied. After that, the second objective was to apply a recently developed chemometric technique (positive matrix factorization) to perform source apportionment and get ion balances. Four pollution patterns were identified, namely, marine, industrial, urban and building-related source pollutants. Ion balances were also made in a straightforward manner. 相似文献

We use the well-known duality between paraxial diffraction in space and dispersion in time to propose a time-domain analog to spatial Fraunhofer diffraction. We show that a temporal effect that is equivalent to the spatial self-imaging (Talbot) effect applies to the reflection of periodic signals from linearly chirped fiber gratings. The effect can be used for multiplying the repetition frequency of a given periodic pulse train without distorting the individual pulse characteristics. The practical limit on the frequency-multiplication factor depends only on the temporal width of the individual pulse. Thus we demonstrate that a suitable combination of well-known techniques for short-pulse generation, such as pulse mode locking, and the technique proposed here allows us to obtain short-pulse trains with ultrahigh repetition rates (in the terahertz regime). The subventricular zone (SVZ) is a principal source of adult neural stem cells in the rodent brain, generating thousands of olfactory bulb neurons every day. If the adult human brain contains a comparable germinal region, this could have considerable implications for future neuroregenerative therapy. Stem cells have been isolated from the human brain, but the identity, organization and function of adult neural stem cells in the human SVZ are unknown. Here we describe a ribbon of SVZ astrocytes lining the lateral ventricles of the adult human brain that proliferate in vivo and behave as multipotent progenitor cells in vitro. This astrocytic ribbon has not been observed in other vertebrates studied. Unexpectedly, we find no evidence of chains of migrating neuroblasts in the SVZ or in the pathway to the olfactory bulb. Our work identifies SVZ astrocytes as neural stem cells in a niche of unique organization in the adult human brain. 相似文献
