Hyperbranched polyglycerols (HPGs) are globular structures with a large number of functionalizable hydroxyl groups and have excellent in vitro and in vivo biocompatibility profiles comparable to polyethylene glycol. This work introduces a facile method for the synthesis of medium molecular weights (Mws) (50–300 kDa) HPGs, which has been difficult to synthesize with low polydispersity, with the assistance of solvents by ring opening polymerization. The influence of different solvents (1,4‐dioxane, tetrahydropyran (THP), ethylene glycol diethyl ether (EGDE) and decane), solvent to glycidol ratio, concentration of glycidol and the time of polymerization on Mw and polydispersity of HPGs has been studied. The Mw and polydispersity of HPGs are significantly affected by the nature of the polymerization phase (homogeneous or heterogeneous) and chemical structure of the solvent. The differences in the solvation of the potassium cations and change in the nucleophilicity of the alkoxide anion in various solvents may be responsible for the changes in Mw and PDI of the HPG. The Mw of the HPG decreases in the order 1,4‐dioxane > THP > EGDE >decane. Electron diffraction provides useful information about the internal composition of materials and has been in the use of material scientists for more than fifty years. In order to extract useful information from offline diffraction images, they are manually analyzed by using some photometric technique. Manual analysis is however a cumbersome, laborious and difficult task. To reduce the labors of material scientists one can employ image processing techniques to perform automated analysis, due to the well established popularity and clear evidence of widely used image processing techniques. In this work an image processing technique is being proposed for the extraction of 2D unit cell information from diffraction images on one hand and finding the 2D point group contained by the lattices on the other. The technique employs a morphological shrinking operation to find the center of each spot in the underlying preprocessed diffraction image. This is followed by the extraction of eight points with reference to the spot produced by the transmitted electron beam. The resultant nine points, i.e. the extracted eight plus the reference spot generated by the transmitted electron beam, are then subjected to symmetry operations, rotation symmetry and mirror symmetry, in polar coordinate system, to classify the point group of the lattice produced by the electron diffraction. One of the difficult task, even in manual analysis, is to ascertain the exact spot where the transmitted electron beam hit the sample at the time of realization of the image. This has been accurately and intuitively done by employing the notion that the transmitted spot must have greater number of pixels, with the highest gray value, among the diffracted spots. The proposed strategy has been applied to a sample set of various images and the results shows that the technique is efficient in determining the unit cell in 2D and classify the point group with good accuracy.  相似文献

A chiral oxazoline‐based organocatalyst has been found to efficiently catalyze asymmetric Strecker reactions of various aromatic and aliphatic N‐benzhydrylimines with trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN) as a cyanide source at ?20 °C to give α‐aminonitriles in high yield (96 %) with excellent chiral induction (up to 98 % ee). DFT calculations have been performed to rationalize the enantioselective formation of the product with the organocatalyst in these reactions. The organocatalyst has been characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis, as well as by other analytical methods. This protocol has been extended to the synthesis of the pharmaceutically important drug molecule levamisole in high yield and with high enantioselectivity.  相似文献

In reliability theory any coherent system can be represented as either a series-parallel or a parallel-series system. Its lifetime can thus be written as the minimum of maxima or the maximum of minima. For large-scale coherent systems it is sensible to assume that the number of system components goes to infinity. Then, the possible non-degenerate extreme value laws either for maxima or for minima are eligible candidates for the system reliability or at least for the finding of adequate lower and upper bounds for the reliability. The identification of the possible limit laws for the system reliability of homogeneous series-parallel (or parallel-series) systems has already been done under different frameworks. However, it is well-known that in most situations such non-degenerate limit laws are better approximated by an adequate penultimate distribution. Dealing with regular and homogeneous parallel-series systems, we assess both theoretically and through Monte-Carlo simulations the gain in accuracy when a penultimate approximation is used instead of the ultimate one.  相似文献

An ion chromatography system employing a low-cost three-dimensional printed absorbance detector for indirect ultraviolet detection towards portable phosphate analysis of environmental and industrial waters has been developed. The optical detection cell was fabricated using stereolithography three-dimensional printing of nanocomposite material. Chromatographic analysis and detection of phosphate were carried out using a CS5A 4 × 250 mm analytical column with indirect ultraviolet detection using a 255 nm light-emitting diode. Isocratic elution using a 0.6 mM potassium phthalate eluent combined with 1.44 mM sodium bicarbonate was employed at a flow rate of 0.75 mL/min. A linear calibration range of 0.5 to 30 mg/L PO43− applicable to environmental and wastewater analysis was achieved. For retention time and peak area repeatability, relative standard deviation values were 0.68 and 4.09%, respectively. Environmental and wastewater samples were analyzed with the optimized ion chromatography platform and the results were compared to values obtained by an accredited ion chromatograph. For the analysis of environmental samples, relative errors of <14 % were achieved. Recovery analysis was also carried out on both freshwater and wastewater samples and recovery results were within the acceptable range for water analysis using standard ion chromatography methods.  相似文献

Abstract

5-fluorouracil (5-FU) refers to a fluorinated pyrimidine analogue that has been widely used as an anticancer agent for colon, head, and neck cancers. Detection of 5-FU and its metabolites; 5-fluorouridine and 5-fluoro-2-deoxyuridine in biological samples allows optimization of pharmacotherapy and encourages fundamental investigations of this medication. The development of accurate and reliable sample preparation, as well as analytical methods, is critical to isolate targeted analytes from complex matrices, apart from increasing detection sensitivity of analytes. With that, this paper presents a review of prior studies pertaining to chromatographic and electrophoretic methods that focused on the analysis of 5-FU and its metabolites in biological matrices such as plasma and urine. This paper concentrates on HPLC, GC and CE systems, which are the most commonly used strategies for analytical separation of 5-FU and its metabolites from samples. Detection of these antineoplastic agents at trace level demands highly sensitive and selective analytical methodologies. Application of these analytical techniques to biological matrices is reviewed with a focus on method development strategies, including types of mobile phases and background electrolytes employed in LC and CE systems.  相似文献

Ferroptosis is a recently described programmed cell death mechanism that is characterized by the buildup of iron (Fe)-dependent lipid peroxides in cells and is morphologically, biochemically, and genetically distinct from other forms of cell death, having emerged to play an important role in cancer biology. Ferroptosis has significant importance during cancer treatment because of the combination of factors, including suppression of the glutathione peroxidase 4 (Gpx4), cysteine deficiency, and arachidonoyl (AA) peroxidation, which cause cells to undergo ferroptosis. However, the physiological significance of ferroptosis throughout development is still not fully understood. This current review is focused on the factors and molecular mechanisms with the diagrammatic illustrations of ferroptosis that have a role in the initiation and sensitivity of ferroptosis in various malignancies. This knowledge will open a new road for research in oncology and cancer management.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Co and Ni nanosized aggregates formed after implantation of nickel and cobalt ions in magnesium oxide single crystals were investigated. The influence of the implantation energy and annealing treatments was characterized. The particle size distribution was determined from the combined analysis of the magnetic moment dependence on both magnetic field and temperature, and used to determine the magnetic anisotropy constant of the aggregates. The results for nickel aggregates indicate the presence of an antiferromagnetic layer after the annealing treatments.  相似文献

In the early 1960s of the 20th century de Broglie was able to explain the cosmological observable red shift, without ad hoc assumptions. Starting from basic quantum considerations he developed his tired light model for the photon. This model explains in a single and beautiful causal way the cosmological redshift without need of assuming the Big Bang and consequently a beginning for the universe. Evidence coming from Earth sciences seems also to confirm these ideas and furthermore concrete proposal of laboratorial scale experiments that can test the model are reviewed.  相似文献
