Design and application of a laser beam alignment system based on the imaging properties of a multi-pass amplifier

Image relaying is presented as a technique for aligning beams onto mm-sized target of high power laser. On the basis of summarizing the preceeding work on the near-field image relaying of multiple spatial filters,the far-filed image relaying is suggested firstly. The near-field and far-field image relaying properties of multiple spatial filters in laser beams automatic alignment system are analyzed. A geometrical optics approach and an ABCD ray matrix theory are used throughout. The reasonable and optimum scheme for automatically aligning multi-pass beam paths is presented and demonstrated on the multi-pass amplifier system of the SG-Ⅲ prototype.     

Electric field enhancement in guided-mode resonance filters

Electric fields inside guided-mode resonance filters (GMRFs) may be intensified by resonance effects. The electric field enhancement is investigated in two GMRFs: one is resonant at normal incidence, the other at oblique incidence. It is shown that the two GMRFs exhibit different behaviors in their electric enhancement. Differences between the electric field distributions of the two GMRFs arise because coupling between counterpropagating modes occurs in the first case. It is also shown that the order of the electric field of maximum amplitude can be controlled by modulation of the dielectric constant of the grating.     

Multichip vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers: a coherent power scaling scheme

We propose an efficient coherent power scaling scheme, the multichip vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser (VECSEL), in which the waste heat generated in the active region is distributed on multi-VECSEL chips such that the pump level at the thermal rollover is significantly increased. The advantages of this laser are discussed, and the development and demonstration of a two-chip VECSEL operating around 970 nm with over 19 W of output power is presented.     

The Modeling Library of Eavesdropping Methods in Quantum Cryptography Protocols by Model Checking

The most crucial issue of quantum cryptography protocols is its security. There exists many ways to attack the quantum communication process. In this paper, we present a model checking method for modeling the eavesdropping in quantum information protocols. So when the security properties of a certain protocol are needed to be verified, we can directly use the models which are already built. Here we adopt the probabilistic model checking tool—PRISM to model these attack methods. The verification results show that the detection rate of eavesdropping is approximately close to 1 when enough photons are transmitted.     

Polarity switching and transient responses in single nanotube nanofluidic transistors

We report the integration of inorganic nanotubes into metal-oxide-solution field effect transistors (FETs) which exhibit rapid field effect modulation of ionic conductance. Surface functionalization, analogous to doping in semiconductors, can switch the nanofluidic transistors from p-type to ambipolar and n-type field effect transistors. Transient study reveals the kinetics of field effect modulation is controlled by ion-exchange step. Nanofluidic FETs have potential implications in subfemtoliter analytical technology and large-scale nanofluidic integration.     

Spectral indices to assess the carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio from adaxial and abaxial leaf reflectance

The ratio between the carotenoid and chlorophyll concentrations can indicate the physiology and phenology of plants. Most of the vegetation indices related to the ratio between the carotenoid and chlorophyll contents only consider the reflectance from the adaxial leaf surface. In this study, it was found that the leaf reflectance from the abaxial surface is lower than that of the adaxial surface in the visible wavelength region. On the contrary, the reflectance is higher on the adaxial surface in the near-infrared wavelength region. The difference ratio index resulted in the best correlation with the carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio and was the most robust among all the spectral indices studied when the spectral information on the adaxial and abaxial surfaces was pooled. The result indicated that this index can accurately estimate the carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio because of the insensitivity to the differences between adaxial and abaxial leaf surfaces.

半导体PN结具有电容的性质．在正向直流偏压下,理论计算表明,PN结扩散电容的对数与正向偏压成正比．实验发现,当正向偏压小于30mV时,这种线性关系是成立的;当正向偏压大于30mV时,会偏离这种线性关系．由于PN结还具有电阻特性,对交流信号的相位有影响．随着正向偏压增大,交流信号的相位变化出现一极值．如果将PN结等效为一个电容和一个电阻并联,就可以定性解释这种变化关系．     

Preservation of entanglement in a two-qubit-spin coupled system

A theoretical scheme for preserving the entanglement in a two-qubit-spin coupled system in the presence of Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) anisotropic antisymmetric interaction is proposed. On the basis of a sequence of operations performed periodically on the system, the scheme can preserve the entanglement of the system starting from any initial state with any desired high precision for any desired long duration.

通过求解2+1维de-Sitter时空中零测地线方程得到光线的轨迹方程,对轨迹方程进行分析发现其不存在封闭的轨迹解.
