Keratinized epithelial transport of beta-blocking agents. I. Relationship between physicochemical properties of drugs and the flux across rat skin and hamster cheek pouch.

The maximum fluxes (Jmax) of beta-blockers through keratinized membranes were determined in vitro and compared with their physiochemical parameters such as lipophilicity (log k'0) and melting point (mp). Rat abdominal skin and hamster cheek pouch mucosa were used as the model membranes. Propranolol, metoprolol, timolol, pindolol, nadolol and agenolol were used as beta-blockers with a variety of physicochemical characters. Linear relations of Jmax with either log k'0 or mp were observed both in intact rat skin and in intact hamster cheek pouch, suggesting that the lipophilicity and thermodynamic activity of a drug in the crystal state primarily affect the drug's permeation through these membranes. However, the slope, dJmax/d(log k'0), for cheek pouch mucosa was greater than that for rat skin, corresponding to the lack of appendigeal shunt pathways in cheek pouch. Penetration studies using the delipidized membranes and the isolated stratum corneum sheet of hamster cheek pouch mucosa clarified that the primary rate-limiting barrier function might exist in the lipid layer of the stratum corneum. Jmax values for the tape-stripped and delipidized skins correlated with both the solubilities of drugs in the vehicle and with the mp, suggesting the polar porous characteristics of both model membranes. However, a theoretical approach confirmed that the contribution of an intracellular or aqueous pore route in the intact membrane to the permeation of drugs with positive lipophilic indexes is negligible.

A Comparative Study on Dynamic and Static Sparsity Patterns in Parallel Sparse Approximate Inverse Preconditioning

Sparse approximate inverse (SAI) techniques have recently emerged as a new class of parallel preconditioning techniques for solving large sparse linear systems on high performance computers. The choice of the sparsity pattern of the SAI matrix is probably the most important step in constructing an SAI preconditioner. Both dynamic and static sparsity pattern selection approaches have been proposed by researchers. Through a few numerical experiments, we conduct a comparable study on the properties and performance of the SAI preconditioners using the different sparsity patterns for solving some sparse linear systems. 人原始生殖细胞的分离和体外培养

从4～10周龄药物流产胚胎的生殖嵴和肠系膜组织中分离原始生殖细胞(primordial germ cells,PGCs),培养在添加人重组白血病抑制因子(rh LIF)、人重组碱性成纤维细胞生长因子(rh bFGF)和Forskolin的小鼠饲养层细胞上.经过4～7 d培养,PGCs形成典型的鸟巢状集落.集落在传代过程中保持碱性磷酸酶活性,且胚胎阶段性特异抗原1(SSEA-1)、胚胎阶段性特异抗原3(SSEA-3)免疫荧光染色呈阳性.具有分化潜能的PGCs能在体外连续传代培养12代.结果表明从药物流产胚胎中分离的人类PGCs可以在体外培养成为具有分化潜能的多能性干细胞.     

一种基于像素自适应仲裁的OSD分层混合结构设计

数据混合是OSD分层显示的关键技术之一.本文基于OSD的分层结构及数据组织结构特点,提出一种OSD分层显示的单混合结构,该结构采用基于像素自适应仲裁的策略,按照层优先级次序,对多个OSD图层信号实时地切换显示.FPGA验证结果表明,该结构在满足OSD分层混合显示、实现菜单选择鼠标控制等高级人机对话功能的前提下,其硬件资源开销比多混合结构节省约33%以上,且具有良好的层次可扩展性和操作灵活性.     

Electronic and Magnetic Properties of the p-NPNN

In this paper, we study the electronic band structure and the ferromagnetic properties of the organic radicalp-NPNN by employing density-functional theory with generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and local-spin densityapproximation (LSDA). The density of states, the total energy, and the spin magnetic moment are calculated. Thecalculations reveal that the δ-phase of p-NPNN has a stable ferromagnetic ground state. It is found that an unpairedelectron in this compound is localized in a single occupied molecular orbital (SOMO) constituted primarily of π* (NO)orbitals, and the main contribution of the spin magnetic moment comes from the π* (NO) orbitals. By comparison, wefind that the GGA is more suitable to describe free radical systems than LSDA.     

The First Results of Supersonic Molecular Beam Injection in the HL-2A Tokamak

HL-2A tokamak, the first tokamak with divertor in China, has been constructed and put into operation in 2002. The main parameters are R=1.65 m, a=0.4 m, BT=2.8 T, Ip = 0. 48 MA. The divertor of HL-2A is unique, because it is characterized with a large closed divertor chamber. The device has double divertor chamber, but now it is operating with lower single null configuration to study the physics of divertor for the next step design of a divertor. Supersonic molecular beam injection （SMBI） system with LN2 cooling trap was first installed and demonstrated on the HL-2A tokamak in 2004. The first results of SMBI into HL-2A plasma are to demonstrate the function of the HL-2A divertor and to observe the cold pulse propagation during multi-pulse SMBI on HL-2A Tokamak.

Enhancement of Overall Photovoltaic Efficiency by Changing the Position of the Attaching Group -RSO3- on the Hemicyanine Dye Molecules

A new photoresponsive D-π-A dye, mPS, has been designed and synthesized.Compared to the parent dye PS, IPCE values in the region from 400 nm to 560 nm was greatly improved upon changing the attaching group from the p- position to the o- position of the π-conjugation bridge. A solar cell based on mPS generated a remarkably high overall yield η of 5.4% under irradiation of 80.0 mW cm^-2 white light from a Xe lamp, Compared with PS, the overall yield η increased by 64%.
