OSCILLATION RESULTS FOR A SECOND ORDER NEUTRAL DELAY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

Some new oscillation criteria are established for a second order neutral delay differential equations. These results improve oscillation results of Y.V. Rogo-vchenko for the retarded delay differential equations. The relevance of our theorems is illustrated with two carefully selected examples.     

Performance of various activators in ethylene polymerization based on an iron(II) catalyst system

Ethylisobutylaluminoxane (EBAO) and its analogues were synthesized by a reaction between an triethylaluminum (Et₃Al)/triisobutylaluminum (i‐Bu₃Al) mixture and 4‐fluorobenzeneboronic acid, phenylboronic acid, or n‐butaneboronic acid and subsequent hydrolysis with water. They were used as cocatalysts in ethylene polymerization catalyzed by an iron complex {[(ArN?C(Me))₂C₅H₃N]FeCl₂, where Ar is 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl}. Polyethylene with a high molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution was prepared with modified EBAOs, and the performance of the iron complex at high polymerization temperatures was greatly improved. The activators for the iron complex also affected the polymerization activity and the molecular weight of the resultant polyethylene. It was suggested that the stereo and electronic effects of the substitute groups of aluminoxane contributed to the improved performance of the new activators. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Enantiomeric separation of basic drugs with partially filled serum albumin as chiral selector in capillary electrophoresis.

A reliable method is presented for the chiral separation of three basic drugs (mexiletine, chlorpheniramine and propranolol) with serum albumins (human and porcine, HSA and PSA) as chiral selectors by capillary electrophoresis in combination with the partial filling technique. Based on the systematic optimization of operation variables, the chiral separation of mexiletine, chlorpheniramine and propranolol was achieved in the pH 7.4 phosphate buffer by using HSA, PSA and PSA as selectors, respectively. The chiral recognition ability of HSA and PSA was compared. HSA and PSA show a different chiral recognition ability for each of the three drugs. In addition, the association constants between enantiomeric drugs and proteins were determined to be 2.00 and 3.80 x 10(2) M(-1) for mexiletine and HSA, 0.59 and 1.12 x 10(3) M(-1) for chlorpheniramine and PSA, and 0.87 and 1.42 x 10(3) M(-1) for propranolol and PSA. The method for the chiral separation and determination of association constants possesses the advantages of simple performance, effective avoiding of the interference of the UV detection from protein, and lowering of the reagent consumption.     

Colorimetric recognition of different enzymology-concerning transition metals based on a hybrid cluster complex.

A hybrid cluster complex, formed by chelating a chromogenic ligand to a [2Fe-2S] cluster, sensitively exhibited differential colorimetric responses towards Hg2+, Cd2+, Cr3+, Pb2, Sn2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe3+ and Co2+ in water at physiological pH. Speciation of some of these metal elements, such as Cr(III) and Sn(IV), was also studied by UV/Vis absorption.     

Fluorescent-based single-strand conformation polymorphism/heteroduplex capillary electrophoretic mutation analysis of the P53 gene.

Fluorescent-based single-strand conformation polymorphism (F-SSCP) analysis with capillary electrophoresis (CE) is the most common method for the detection of mutation because of its high sensitivity and resolution. In this study, we prepared an inexpensive linear polyacrylamide (LPA), and successfully applied it to CE-SSCP analysis and tandem CE-SSCP/heteroduplex analysis (HA) of the P53 gene on an ABI capillary genetic analyzer. A comparison of the sieving capabilities of a homemade LPA and commercial polydimethylacrylamide (PDMA) demonstrates that the homemade LPA has a higher resolution, a shorter analysis time, and is more suitable for tandem SSCP/HA than commercial PDMA. To show the usefulness, mutations of P53 gene exon 7 - 8 in 37 tumor samples were investigated by using homemade LPA. The results indicate that 10 mutations were found in 9 of 37 cases; the majority of P53 mutations were missense mutations, and 70% were located in exon 7, which plays an important role in neoplastic progression in human tumorigenesis.     

Architecture and algorithms for tracking football players with multiple cameras

A system architecture and method for tracking people is presented for a sports application. The system input is video data from static cameras with overlapping fields-of-view at a football stadium. The output is the real-world, real-time positions of football players during a match. The system comprises two processing stages, operating on data from first a single camera and then multiple cameras. The organisation of processing is designed to achieve sufficient synchronisation between cameras, using a request-response pattern, invoked by the second stage multi-camera tracker. The single-view processing includes change detection against an adaptive background and image-plane tracking to improve the reliability of measurements of occluded players. The multiview process uses Kalman trackers to model the player position and velocity, to which the multiple measurements input from the single-view stage are associated. Results are demonstrated on real data.     

噪声测量作为筛选光电耦合器件的一种方法

本文针对目前用于光电耦合器件筛选方法的不足，提出了用测量耦合器件噪声功率谱的方法来筛选掉噪声值大的器件，给出一批光电耦合器件的测量统计结果及在不同工作点时的噪声功率谱，并给出相应的筛选标准，实验结果表明，这种方法是有效、可行的。     

波导短程透镜球差特性分析及其焦距精确测量方法的研究

本文研究短程透镜的焦点位于端面外的球差特性。对焦点位于波导外部（包括端面）的情况给出了一种精确测量焦距新方法，采用这种方法简单易行，测量精度取决于读数显微镜的读数精度（０．０１ｍｍ）。     

高可靠镀Ni／Au工艺及其在微波PTFE电路上的应用

介绍了高可靠电镀Ｎｉ／Ａｕ工艺在ＰＴＦＥ微波印制电路上的应用，并分析了氨基磺酸盐镀软镍和亚硫酸盐镀软金工艺的影响因素及提高Ｎｉ／Ａｕ镀层之间附着力的措施。通过实验及应用证明了与直接镀金工艺相比，在软基材ＰＴＦＥ敷铜箔板上镀Ｎｉ／Ａｕ工艺能大大提高微波电路的可焊性，高温稳定性和长期可靠性，并且用其所制作的微波器件的高频性能也优于直接镀金工业。     

Analysis of dispersion characteristics for a circular dielectric waveguide with periodic metallic strips by using the method of lines

The dispersion characteristics of circular dielectric waveguide with periodic metallic strips are analyzed by the method of lines. The filter property of the metallic strip loaded structure is carefully investigated for both TE and TM modes. The brillioum diagrams for both TE₀₁ and TM₀₁ modes are given. A comparison is made between the results obtained by Galerkin's method and those calculated with the method of lines, and very good agreement has been found; the accuracy of the present method is thus justified. On the basis of the analysis, some useful guidelines for the design of the bandreject filters are suggested.
