The study explores the biosorption potential of nanocellulose (NC) to remove an insecticide, chlorpyrifos (CP), from aqueous solutions using the batch method. Biosorption kinetics were very fast and reached equilibrium in 60 min, and the experimental kinetic data had fit well with the pseudo-second-order model. Film diffusion was the rate-limiting step for the biosorption of CP onto crystalline nanocellulose (CNC). The equilibrium sorption was well described by the Sips and Langmuir isotherm models. The values of maximum sorption capacities (7.237–5.017 mg/g for the Sips and 12.325–7.247 mg/g for the Langmuir model) decreased with an increase in temperature from 288 to 308 K, signifying biosorption of CP is an exothermic process. Based on the central composite design (CCD), two-factor interaction (2FI) and quadratic models, the correlation between the effects of variable parameters on the CP biosorption onto NC was evaluated. The chemometric analyses suggested that 1.5 g/l NC required 20 min to biosorb 5 mg/l CP to yield an efficiency of 99.3%. Overall, the results demonstrated that NCs can be a promising biosorbent for the removal of pesticides from aqueous streams. 相似文献

Several deep eutectic solvents prepared by the complexation of choline chloride as the hydrogen bond acceptor and hydrogen bond donors such as urea, thiourea, ethylene glycol, and glycerol were employed to partition glaucarubinone, an antimalarial compound present in roots of the plant, Simarouba glauca. Among all the solvents, the deep eutectic solvent consisting of the mixture of choline chloride and urea the most suitable to partition the antimalarial compound from the extract selectively. Analytical tools such as high‐performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry were used for characterizations, and glaucarubinone extracted from the roots of the plant by conventional solvent extraction method was used as a reference for comparison. The hydrogen and noncovalent bonds formed between glaucarubinone and the deep eutectic solvents could be responsible for the selective partition of the drug molecule. 相似文献

Allyl telechelic polyisobutylene (allyl‐PIB‐allyl) is of great commercial and scientific interest produced by living polymerization of isobutylene followed by functionalization (allylation with allyltrimethylsilane) under external cooling, typically to ?78 °C. Cooling is cumbersome and costly, and temperature control is far from ideal. Herein we describe the quantitative preparation of allyl‐PIB‐allyl under ideal internal temperature control at ~?40 °C using refluxing propane/methyl chloride mixtures. The exact composition of the nonpolar/polar solvents and polymerization time crucially affect product quality. Well‐defined allyl‐PIB‐allyl is obtained using 60/40 (v/v) refluxing propane/methyl chloride and terminating not more than 5 min after monomer depletion. In pure refluxing propane or methyl chloride, or at longer reaction times, byproducts form that compromise product quality. Radium is considered to be a useful tracer for studying various physical processes of seawater. There are several methods for analysis of radium; however, analysis of radium in seawater by those analytical techniques is a tedious job. Thus a new methodology was optimized for analysis of radium in sea water using MnO2 co-precipitation followed by gamma spectrometry. The method produced good yield which ranged from 85–98%. The method is simple and requires less amounts of chemicals and no use of acids. Seawater from different western Indian coastal environments viz. Tarapur, Mumbai and Goa were collected and analysed for 226Ra and 228Ra using this method. 相似文献

The stability of silver nanoparticles is controlled mainly by two major factors, namely, aggregation and oxidation. In the present study, silver nanoparticles were synthesized by using different series of reducing agents like a strong reducing agent (sodium borohydride), a mild reducing agent (tri-sodium citrate), and a weak reducing agent (glucose) with different capping agents, namely, polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP K 30), starch, and sodium carboxyl methyl cellulose (NaCMC). The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and anti-microbial activity. The particle size of silver nanoparticles varies in the following order: sodium borohydride < tri-sodium citrate < glucose. Combination of sodium borohydride–polyvinyl pyrrolidone and tri-sodium citrate-polyvinyl pyrrolidone yields stable silver nanoparticles compared to other combinations of reducing agents and capping agents. The stability results confirmed that a refrigerated condition (8°C) was more suitable for storage of silver nanoparticles. Anti-microbial activity of silver nanoparticles synthesized in a sodium borohydride–polyvinyl pyrrolidone mixture shows a larger zone of inhibition compared to other silver nanoparticles. Anti-microbial results confirmed that the anti-microbial activity is better with smaller particle size. The size and stability of silver nanoparticles in the presence of different combinations of stabilizing and capping agents are reported. 相似文献

A new palladium incorporated carbonaceous catalyst Pd@CCSO3HNH2 was synthesized by introducing palladium on glucose derived carbocatalyst. The catalyst was well characterized and was used for the Suzuki coupling of phenyl boronic acid with different aryl halides under aqueous conditions. This green methodology represents a ligand free, cost-effective and operationally convenient method for the synthesis of a variety of biaryl’s under the conditions that are tolerant for a broad range of functional groups with good to excellent yields. This work reports the production of biodiesel with waste cooking oil and dimethyl carbonate in solvent free system through transesterification by immobilized enzyme (Novozym 435) under the influence of ultrasound irradiation. The experiments were conducted in an ultrasonic water bath under three different conditions i.e. ultrasonic irradiation (UI) without stirring, UI coupled with stirring and only stirring to compare their overall effects on fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) conversion. As compared with the conventional stirring method, where FAME conversion was 38.69% at 4 h, the UI without stirring significantly enhanced the conversion of enzymatic transesterification to 57.68% for the same reaction time. However the reaction rate was further increased under the condition of ultrasonication coupled with stirring and resulted into higher conversion of 86.61% for the same reaction time. Effects of reaction parameters, such as temperature, ratio of DMC/oil, speed of agitation and enzyme loading on the conversion were investigated. Furthermore, repeated use of Novozym 435 showed gradual decline in both conversion as well as enzyme activity. 相似文献
