Derived attractiveness of shopping malls   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
** Email: tdrezner{at}fullerton.edu In this paper we develop a model for estimating the attractivenessof shopping malls by analysing the distance customers travelto shopping malls. A mall intercept survey is conducted, andvisitors to area malls are asked where they live and whetherthey came from home. More attractive malls are expected to attractcustomers from greater distances. Thus, analysis of the distancestravelled leads to the derivation of the attractiveness of eachshopping mall. The model was tested using a survey of 3,112shoppers in 10 malls in Orange County, CA. The estimated attractivenesslevels derived by this approach were compared with the resultsof other models for estimating retail attractiveness levels,and a good match was found. As a result of the study, we concludethe following: (i) distance is a less important factor in selectinga shopping mall to patronize compared to the choice of grocerystores or other retail facilities and (ii) the decline in theprobability of patronizing a certain mall is better modelledas an exponential decline rather than a decline according toa power of the distance. Nearly monodisperse hollow gold nanospheres (HGNs) with tunable interior and exterior diameters have been synthesized by sacrificial galvanic replacement of cobalt nanoparticles. It is possible to tune the peak of the surface plasmon band absorption between 550 and 820 nm by carefully controlling particle size and wall thickness. Cobalt particle size is tunable by simultaneously changing the concentration of sodium borohydride and sodium citrate, the reducing and capping agent, respectively. The thickness of the gold shell can be varied by carefully controlling the addition of gold salt. With successful demonstration of ensemble as well as single HGN surface-enhanced Raman scattering, these HGNs have shown great potential for chemical and biological sensing applications, especially those requiring nanostructures with near-IR absorption.  相似文献

4,4′-methylenedianiline (DAPM) is the main building block for production of 4,4′-methylenediphenyldiisocyanate that has been widely used in the manufacturing of polyurethane materials including medical devices. Although it was revealed that damage to biliary epithelial cells of the liver and common bile duct occurred upon acute exposure to DAPM, the exact mechanism of DAPM toxicity is not fully understood. Both phase I and II biotransformations of DAPM, some of which generate reactive intermediates, are characterized in detail by liquid chromatography electrospray tandem mass spectrometry. The two most prominent metabolites found in rat bile (M2 and M7) implicated glutathione, glucuronic acid, and glycine conjugations (phase II) following hydroxylation, and N-oxidation (phase I). Amphetamine and methamphetamine are emerging contaminants—those for which no regulations currently require monitoring or public reporting of their presence in our water supply. In this research, a protocol for weak cation‐exchange (WCX) SPE coupled with LC‐MS/MS was developed for determination of emerging contaminants amphetamine and methamphetamine in a complex wastewater matrix. Gradient LC parameters were adjusted to yield baseline separation of methamphetamine from other contaminants. Methamphetamine‐D5 was used as the internal standard (IS) to compensate for sample loss during SPE and for signal loss during MS (matrix effects). Recoveries were 102.1 ± 7.9% and 99.4 ± 4.0% for amphetamine and methamphetamine, respectively, using WCX sorbent. Notably, methamphetamine was determined to be present in wastewater influent at each sampling date tested. Amphetamine was present in wastewater influent on two of four sampling dates. Amphetamine concentrations ranged from undetectable to 86.4 ng/L in influent, but it was undetectable in wastewater effluent. Methamphetamine was detected in influent at concentrations ranging from 27.0–60.3 ng/L. Methamphetamine concentration was reduced but incompletely removed at this facility. Although absent in one post‐UV effluent sample, concentrations of methamphetamine ranged from 10.8–14.8 ng/L.  相似文献

This work describes the attachment of two amino acid derivatives by olefin cross-metathesis using Grubbs' second generation catalyst. They were connected at the carboxyl termini. In addition, a cyclic dilactam scaffold was used, which reacted with only a fraction of the amino acid derivatives. The remaining fraction coupled directly coupled with no scaffold. This highly trans-selective double attachment resulted in the cross-metathesis of a variety of amino acids in a single reaction.  相似文献

During the investigation of the reaction of dichloroketene with cyclic enoxy-lactones and acyclic enoxy-ester substrates it was found that only the acylic variants effectively participated in the [2+2]-cycloaddition. Although a complete understanding of the reasons for this are lacking, molecular mechanics calculations do suggest that an out of plane twist of the cabonyl group in the acyclic compounds may be partially responsible. After screening a variety of chiral auxiliaries it was found that useful levels of diastereoselectivity (2.6-10.8:1) could be obtained in this cycloaddition reaction when (R)-2,2-diphenylcyclopentanol was used as the chiral auxiliary.  相似文献

This paper investigates the network design problem of a two-level supply chain (SC), which is applicable for industries such as automotive, fuel and tyre manufacturing. Models presented in this paper aim at locating retail facilities of an SC and identifying their required capacities in the presence of existing competing retailers of a rival SC. We consider feasible locating space of the retail facilities on the continuous plane with bounded constraints and static competition among the rivals of the markets with deterministic demands. The problem is used for both essential and luxury product cases; hence, we consider elastic and inelastic demands, both. The models discussed in this paper are non-linear and non-convex which are difficult to solve. We use interval branch-and-bound as optimization algorithm for small size single-retailer problems, but for large-scale, multi-retailer problems we need to have more efficient methods. Therefore, we apply a heuristic algorithm (H1), a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm, an interior point (IP) algorithm, a genetic algorithm (GA) and a pattern search algorithm for solving multi-retailer problem with elastic and inelastic demands. Computational results obtained from performing different solution approaches for both elastic and inelastic show that mostly IP, PS, and H1 methods outperform the other approaches. The computational results on a real-life case are also promising. Several extended mathematical models and an example of a typical case with details are presented in the appendices of the paper.  相似文献
