It is shown that the inclusion of a small amount of primary ionisation makes the solution to the discharge equilibrium problem single valued.     

Determination of crystalline electric fields in RERh4B4 compounds

Using the Mössbauer effect of ¹⁵⁵Gd, the quadrupole interaction in GdRh₄B₄ has been measured, which yields the A⁰₂ term in the crystalline electric field Hamiltonian to be 1165 ± 100 K/a.u. Using this, the B⁰₂ terms for the other RERh₄B₄ (RE = Gd to Tm) have been deduced, and the physical properties predicted by the resulting Hamiltonian are compared with the experimental results.     

A comparative study of side-band Fresnel holograms recorded with self-imaging and general objects

This paper deals with new results obtained in regard to the reconstruction properties of side-band Fresnel holograms (SBFH) of self-imaging type objects (for example, gratings) as compared with those of general objects. The major finding is that a distribution I₂, which appears on the real-image plane along with the conventional real-image I₁, remains a 2Z distribution (where 2Z is the axial distance between the object and its self-imaging plane) under a variety of situations, while its nature and focusing properties differ from one situation to another. It is demonstrated that the two distributions I₁ and I₂ can be used in the development of a novel technique for image subtraction.     

A novel transformation of 2-dichloracetamido-1-methyl-5-nitroimidazole to 5-dichloroacetylimino-tetrahydroimidazo (4,5-c) pyrazoles.

2-Dichloracetamido-1-methyl-5-nitroimidazole undergoes novel cycloaddition with diazomethane to form 5-dichloracetylimino-tetrahydroimidazopyrazoles via 2-dichloracetylimino-1,3-dimethyl-5-nitroimidazoline.     

EXAFS study of iron monomers and dimers isolated in solid argon

We report a study of local structure of iron monomers and dimers isolated in a rare gas Ar matrix using extended X-ray absorption fine structure measurements. The results have been compared with Mössbauer measurements on such systems. The interatomic distance found for Fe₂ in these measurements is 1.87 ± 0.13 Å.     

Low resistivity as-deposited ohmic contacts to 3C-SiC

The contact resistivities of Al and Ti ohmic contacts to n-type 3C-SiC were measured using the circular TLM method. The surface doping concentration under the contact was increased by ion-implantation of nitrogen into SiC. The contact resistivity was observed to decrease with increasing surface doping concentration for both Al and Ti contacts. The minimum value for the contact resistivities for Aland Ti contacts was 1.4x 10^-5and 1.5 x 10^-5 ω cm², respectively, at the surface doping concentration of 3 x 10²⁰ cm^-3 without any annealing of the contacts. These values are an order of magnitude lower than previously reported minimum values for as-deposited ohmic contacts on n-type 3C-SiC.     

Reaction of Anthranilamide with Phosphorus Pentasulfide: Formation of 2-Mercapto-(1H)-1,3,2λ5-benzodiazaphosphorine-2,4-dithione

The reaction of anthranilamide with phosphorus pentasulfide in boiling pyridine leads to the benzodiazaphosphorine-pyridine salt 2 . The structure is established by elemental analysis, ¹H- ¹³C- ¹⁵N- ³¹P-NMR, and mass spectral data.     

Magnetic ordering in GdH3

In contrast to a previous report, GdH₃ is found to order antiferromagnetically at 1.8 K.     

Growth and thermal studies on pure ADP,KDP and mixed K1‐x(NH4)xH2PO4 crystals

The investigations on the formation of mixed crystals of ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate (ADP) and potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (KDP) i.e. potassium ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, K_1‐x(NH₄)_xH₂PO₄ have been presented in this paper. Pure and mixed crystals of ADP and KDP have been grown by slow evaporation technique from the supersaturated solution at an ambient temperature 26±1 °C for ammonium concentration x in the range 0.0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0 in the case of mixed crystals. Crystal compositions were determined by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy and chemical analysis. The results of the X‐ray analysis of the grown crystals are also reported. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to study the kinetic process of dehydration and the high temperature phase behaviour. DTA showed the distinct thermal events attributed to dehydration of ADP, KDP and K_1‐x(NH₄)_xH₂PO₄. The results of thermal analysis and chemical analysis are consistent with each other. A Comprehensive Kinetic Model of Free‐Radical‐Mediated Interfacial Polymerization

A mathematical model describing interfacial radical polymerization‐based film formation on hydrogels is elucidated. A glucose oxidase‐mediated multistage initiation reaction is used to accomplish interfacial film formation. A polymer concentration‐dependent diffusion coefficient is used to reflect the changing mass transport conditions as the film develops. Model predictions of the film thickness as a function of the species concentrations agree well with experiments. The model predicts that the degree of initiation reaction delocalization with the enzyme‐mediated initiation system is significantly higher than an enzyme‐independent system, thus affecting the film growth rate and structure. The mass transport properties of the film and its adhesion to the underlying substrate are also investigated.
