Summary A study has been promoted by NASA to evaluate the scientific return and the technological problems of a close-to-the-Sun mission (Solar Probe). It has come out that using current technology it is possible to deliver at 4 solar radii from the Sun's centre a scientific payload with such performances to allow a great improvement of our understanding of the coronal phenomena. The mission concept currently under study uses planetary encounters to reach the required orbit. The final orbit period is 2.5 years, the estimated mission duration about 9 years. The orbit inclination is such as to give the maximum coverage in terms of heliographic latitude. During the perihelion phases a conical structure shields the spacecraft from the intense solar radiation. Paper presented at the V Cosmic Physics National Conference, S. Analysis of a complexity-based pruning scheme for classification trees   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A complexity-based pruning procedure for classification trees is described, and bounds on its finite sample performance are established. The procedure selects a subtree of a (possibly random) initial tree in order to minimize a complexity penalized measure of empirical risk. The complexity assigned to a subtree is proportional to the square root of its size. Two cases are considered. In the first, the growing and pruning data sets are identical, and in the second, they are independent Using the performance bound, the Bayes risk consistency of pruned trees obtained via the procedure is established when the sequence of initial trees satisfies suitable geometric and structural constraints. The pruning method and its analysis are motivated by work on adaptive model selection using complexity regularization.  相似文献

Dynamic modeling of lung C18O diffusion is used to measure the C18O transfer factor (TLco) of 14 newborns aged 1-4 mo. The model equation is based on the alveolar fractions of C18O and on changing alveolar ventilation induced by the rebreathing conditions. The model does not involve the volume of the rebreathing bag which is usually needed when applying rebreathing technique add which is a source of error. The equation is discretized and solved for recorded data obtained with equipment adapted to use in newborns. A least-square parameter calculation technique is applied to estimate TLco. Results show a strong relationship between this index and the biometrical ones and confirm those found in the literature featuring that the measurement duration can be considerably shortened  相似文献

The analysis and scanning characteristics of an infinite array of rectangular microstrip patches each loaded with a varactor diode is presented. The analysis is based on full-wave moment method theory and uses attachment modes to accurately model the current through the feed and the diode. The effect of the biased varactor diode on the scan performance is presented, and it is shown that the impedance mismatch caused by a scan blindness can be eliminated. Other characteristics are also given such as: the active element gain, the efficiency of each loaded microstrip element, and the level of cross polarization generated by the loading of the patch. The effect of the diode biasing level as well as the position of the diode on each radiating element on these scan characteristics is also considered  相似文献

The data recovered from compact discs are contaminated with errors that exhibit a bursty behavior. A channel model is developed to characterize the error bursts and good-data gaps that occur in actual data recovered from compact discs. The probability of having m erroneous symbols in a data block of length n symbols is calculated using the channel model.
