Instability of a thin electrolyte film undergoing a direct current electroosmotic flow has been investigated. The film with a compliant electrolyte–air interface is flowing over a rigid charged substrate. Unlike previous studies, inclusion of the Maxwell stresses in the formulation shows the presence of a new finite wavenumber shear-flow mode of instability, alongside the more frequently observed long-wave interfacial mode. The shear mode is found to be the dominant mode of instability when the electrolyte–solid and electrolyte–air interfaces are of opposite charge or of same charge but have very large zeta-potential at the electrolyte–air interface. The conditions for mode-switch (interfacial to shear) and the direction of the travelling waves are discussed through stability diagrams. Interestingly, the analysis shows that when the interfaces are of nearly same zeta potential, the ‘free’ electrolyte–air interface behaves more like a ‘stationary’ wall because of the ion transport in the reverse direction of the flow.  相似文献

For this study, a 4 stage electrical low pressure impactor was designed to measure the real‐time size distribution of diesel particulate matter (DPM). For the performance evaluation, sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and dioctyl sebacate (DOS) particles were used. After evaluating the collection efficiency of each stage of the impactor, the size distributions of test particles were estimated using electrical current data and their inversion algorithm, and this was found to agree with the results obtained by a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS). For measurement of DPM, a common‐rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engine, for engine speeds of 1,200 rpm and 1,500 rpm at 2.7 kgf·m, was used. Therefore, it was found that the size distribution of the DPM could be easily obtained, with the currents measured by the impactor and the data inversion algorithm, in less than 5 seconds. Furthermore, the effective density of the DPM could be obtained using the calculated results and the SMPS data.  相似文献

In this study, a boronate-silica hybrid affinity monolith was prepared for specific capture of glycoproteins at neutral pH condition. The monolith was synthesized via a facile one-pot procedure in a stainless steel column by concurrently mixing hydrolyzed alkoxysilanes tetramethoxysilane and vinyltrimethoxysilane, organic monomer 3-acrylamidophenylboronic acid and initiator 2,2′-azobisisobutyronitrile together. The polycondensation of alkoxysilanes and copolymerization of organic monomer and vinyl-silica monolith were carried out successively by reacting at different temperatures. After optimizing the preparation conditions, the resulting hybrid affinity monolith was systematically characterized and exhibited excellent affinity to both cis-diol-containing small molecules and glycoproteins at neutral and physiological pH, including adenosine, horseradish peroxidase, transferrin and ovalbumin. The binding capacity of ovalbumin on monolith was measured to be 2.5 mg g?1 at pH 7.0. Furthermore, the hybrid affinity monolith was applied to the separation of transferrin from bovine serum sample at a physiological condition. Good repeatability was obtained and the relative standard deviations of retention time were 1.15 and 4.77 % (n?=?5) for run-to-run and column-to-column, respectively.  相似文献

This paper presents methods of determining the long-term stability of vitamin E emulsion and formation of microemulsions. Several emulsion systems formed by using anionic, zwitterionic and cationic surfactants have been studied in the presence and absence of NaCI. Several conclusions can be drawn: (1) by using UV absorption and particle size measurements, one may be able to predict the long-term stability of an emulsion or the possibility of forming a microemulsion by measuring the initial properties of an emulsion, (2) in order to form a stable vitamin E emulsion or microemulsion, the initial properties of the emulsion should have the following features : (a) the particle size is ≤ 200 nm, (b) the surfactant system has a saturation value ≥ 1 and (c) the surfactant system can dissolve a substantial amount of vitamin E without causing an increase of the emulsion droplet size and (3) the saturation value and the stability of many vitamin E emulsion systems can be increased by adding an optimum amount of NaCI.  相似文献

Three kinds of novel aromatic diamine-based benzoxazines containing naphthalene, propane-2,2-diyldibenzene and neopentyl groups in the backbone, respectively (designated as BAPNCP, BAPBACP and BAPNPGCP, respectively), were synthesized and characterized. In addition, the effects of backbone structures on curing behaviors of the monomers and thermal and flammability properties of the resulting polymers were systematically studied. The results indicated that BAPNPGCP displayed the highest enthalpy of the curing reaction associated with the ring-opening of benzoxazine, which was due to the effect of benzoxazine ring content per unit mass. Interestingly, the 5 wt% weight loss temperature and char residue after thermogravimetric test for poly(BAPNPGCP) were 8 °C and 7% higher than those of poly(BAPBACP). Meanwhile, the total heat release of poly(BAPNPGCP) was less than half of that for poly(BAPBACP), indicating the substantial effect of benzoxazine ring content on flammability and char formation. Furthermore, it was found that poly(BAPNCP) gave the best thermal stability and flame retardancy, which was due to the synergistic effect between naphthalene group and benzoxazine ring content. This study provides new insight into the curing behavior of benzoxazine and further understanding on the high performance of polybenzoxazine.  相似文献

Three oxovanadium complexes, namely [VO(NOSAA)(bpy)] (1) (NOSAA = 2-hydroxy-5-nitrosalicylidene anthranilic acid, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridyl), [VO(NOSAA)(4,4′-dimebpy)] (2) (4,4′-dimebpy = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′- bipyridyl), and [VO(NOSAA)(phen)] (3) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been prepared and characterized. The binding modes and strengths of these complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) were studied using various techniques. The chemical nuclease activities and photocleavage reactions of the complexes were also tested. All three complexes interact with CT-DNA through intercalative modes, and complex 3 possesses the largest binding affinity. All three complexes can efficiently cleave pBR322 DNA upon irradiation or under physiological conditions in the presence of H2O2, and complex 3 has the best cleaving ability. In vitro experimental results showed that the three complexes are cytotoxic against myeloma (Ag8.653) and gliomas (U251) cell lines and complex 3 again showed the highest efficacy.  相似文献

Cellulose I nanowhiskers were prepared in relatively high yield (48 ± 2 %) by single-stage hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose with an aqueous solution of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate ([Bmim]HSO4). This reaction occurred under mildly acidic reaction conditions with an [H+]/[AGU] ratio of 0.24 mol/mol, i.e., 2 orders of magnitude lower than with concentrated sulfuric acid. The nanowhiskers exhibited small width and width distribution and also smaller length than nanowhiskers obtained with concentrated acid. With a relatively low content of sulfur they also exhibited higher thermal stability than whiskers obtained with concentrated sulfuric acid. The lower solvating power of the aqueous ionic liquid compared to that of concentrated sulfuric acid likely contributes to the greater hydrolysis efficiency in the present system.  相似文献
