Chemical sensors have been widely used for the analysis of volatile organic compounds. Employing chemical sensors in an array format with pattern recognition provides a higher degree of selectivity and reversibility leading to an extensive range of applications. When such systems are used for odour analysis they are termed electronic noses. Application of electronic noses ranges from the food industry, medical industry to environmental monitoring and process control. Many types of different gas sensors have been employed in the array. These include conducting polymers, metal oxide semiconductors, piezoelectric, optical fluorescence and amperometric gas sensors The transducer principle of these sensors is varied and is discussed in detail within this review. Examples of the current trends in sensor array technology as well as the applications to which the sensor-based noses have been applied are also discussed.  相似文献

The use of composite biosensors for multianalyte detection strategies is discussed. Graphite–Teflon rigid composite biosensors offer the possibility of coimmobilization of several enzymes by simple physical inclusion in the bulk of the electrode matrix with no covalent linkages. A novel trienzyme graphite–Teflon–glucose oxidase (GOD)–alcohol oxidase (AOD)–peroxidase (HRP)–ferrocene bisosensor yielded amperometric steady-state currents similar to those obtained with graphite–Teflon–GOD–HRP–ferrocene and graphite–Teflon–AOD–HRP–ferrocene electrodes for the same concentration of glucose and ethanol, respectively. The performance of the trienzyme biosensor for multianalyte detection was evaluated with the simultaneous determination of glucose and ethanol after separation by HPLC, in samples of sweet wine. The simultaneous analysis of several analytes in the same sample should imply that, with an adequate dilution, the concentration levels of the analytes can be included within the ranges of linearity of the corresponding calibration plots. The use of two composite biosensors in a parallel configuration, so that different analytes can be simultaneously detected with no need of chromatographic separation, is also discussed. The usefulness of this approach was evaluated by the simultaneous analysis of glucose and ethanol in sweet wine, and of glucose and lactic acid in red wine.  相似文献

A new reagent, 6-[2′-(6′-methyl-benzothiazolylazo)]-1,2-dihydroxy-3,5-benzenedisulfonic acid (Me-BDBD), was synthesised and used in on-line and off-line systems for copper preconcentration by solid-phase extraction. Spectrophotometry and Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS) were the detection techniques. Polyurethane foam loaded with Me-BDBD packed in a minicolumn was used as sorbent in both systems. The spectral characteristics of Me-BDBD were investigated. The optimum pH values for maximum sorption of the metal are between 7.0 and 8.5. Copper was desorbed with 0.05 and 0.50 mol L−1 hydrochloric acid solutions, for on-line and off-line systems, respectively. The effects of several foreign substances on the adsorption of copper are reported. The enrichment factors obtained were 7 (on-line) and 26 (off-line) for the systems. The proposed procedures allowed the determination of copper with detection limits of 3.4 and 1.4 μg L−1 (0.85 and 0.35 μg per gram of sample) for on-line and off-line systems, respectively. The precision of the procedures was also calculated: 3.2 (on-line) and 1.9% (off-line). The validation of the procedures was carried out by analysis of certified reference material. The copper contents in corn and rice flour and black tea samples were determined by applying the proposed procedures.  相似文献

The tautomerism of 2-azaadenine and 2-hypoxanthine has been examined in the gas phase and in aqueous solution. The tautomerism in the gas phase has been studied by means of semiempirical and ab initio quantum-mechanical computations, as well as density-functional calculations. The influence of the aqueous solvent on the relative stability between tautomers has been estimated from self-consistent reaction field calculations performed with different high-level continuum models. The results provide a detailed picture of the tautomeric preference for these purine bases. The importance of tautomerism in the substrate recognition by xanthine oxidase is discussed. Finally, the rate of oxidation of 2-azaadenine and 2- hypoxanthine by xanthine oxidase is discussed in terms of the recognition model at the enzyme active site.  相似文献

Variations in electrophysical properties of anodic silicon oxide at the surface of semiconductor silicon are studied as a function of the composition of electrolytic solutions containing orthophosphoric acid and the conditions of reaching the final formation potential. The optimum conditions for the formation of anodic SiO2 coatings that include phosphorus-containing admixtures are determined, the coatings being intended for application as diffusates in nanoelectronics.  相似文献

Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of the reactive quaternary system ethanol (1) + water (2) + ethyl lactate (3) + lactic acid (4) have been determined experimentally. Additionally, the reaction equilibrium constant was calculated for each VLE experimental data. The experimental VLE data were correlated using the UNIQUAC equation to describe the chemical and phase equilibria simultaneously. For some of the non-reactive binary systems, UNIQUAC binary interaction parameters were obtained from the literature. The rest of the binary UNIQUAC parameters were obtained by correlating the experimental quaternary VLE data obtained in this work. A maximum pressure azeotrope at high water concentration for the binary reactive system ethyl lactate + water has been calculated.  相似文献

Selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) might avoid the side effects of current available nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs while retaining their therapeutic efficacy. A novel variable selection and modeling method based on prediction is developed to construct the quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) between the molecular electronegativity distance vector (MEDV) based on 13 atomic types and the biological activities of a set of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitory molecules, 3,4-diarylcycloxazolones (DAA) plus indomethacin,naproxen, and celecoxib. Using multiple linear regression, a 5-variable linear model is developed with the calibrated correlation coefficient of 0.9271 and root mean square error of 0.17 in modeling stage and the validated correlation coefficient of 0.9030 and root mean square error of 0.20 in leave-one-out validation step, respectively. To further test the predictive ability of the model, 20 DAA compounds are picked up to construct a training set which is used to build a QSAR model and then the model is employed to predict the biological activities of the balance compounds. The predicted correlation coefficient and root mean square error are 0.9332 and 0.19, respectively.  相似文献

A comparative study of three mercury chelate forming reagents [diethyldithiocarbamate, pyrrolidin-1-yldithioformate and diphenylthiocarbazone (dithizone)] has been carried out for the preconcentration of ultratrace amounts of inorganic mercury and methylmercury in silica C(18) minicolumns as the solid sorbent. Sample flow injection in-line sorbent extraction was coupled with continuous cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS) for detection. Results showed the superiority of the carbamate type reagents over the dithizone for the on-line formation and preconcentration of the corresponding mercury chelates. Using diethyldithiocarbamate (DDC) as reagent, aqueous sample volumes of 100 ml can be preconcentrated with 100% efficiency for both inorganic mercury and methylmercury. Quantitative release of the retained DDC chelates was obtained for volumes of eluent (ethanol) of 50 microl. Following the proposed procedure, detection limits of 16 ng/l. of mercury were achieved for sample volumes of 25 ml. The relative standard deviation was +/- 3.4% at 0.5 microg/l. Hg(II) levels. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of low levels of mercury in sea-water.  相似文献

A simple and fast analytical pocedure is proposed for the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of lanthanum, holmium and manganese in synthetic ceramics, (La(0.8-x) Hox Sr0.2 MnO3), by using the partial least-squares (PLS) method. As chromogenic agent 5-Br-PADAP [2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol] was used, which form colored complexes with the three elements studied. To avoid metal hydrolysis, a mixture of ethanol and Triton X-100 at pH 9.5 was used for all experiments. A set of 17 calibration solutions measured throughout the 400-700 nm wavelength range was used in the calibration step. The concentration range for Mn(II) was 1-12 x 10(-6) mol L-1, while the range for the rare earth elements La(III) and Ho(III) was 2-8 x 10(-6) mol L-1. In order to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method, a set of artificial samples containing the three analytes in variable proportions was prepared and analyzed. The analytical results obtained were quite acceptable with relative errors not greater than 7% in most cases.  相似文献

In the present study, the structure and morphology of single sodium poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) molecules adsorbed to mica surface from the natural aqueous solution is investigated using atomic force microscopy technique. Results show that single PSS molecules are observed which show a morphology of wormlike coils. Meanwhile, single sodium poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS)/Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) complexes deposited on mica from the air–water interface are also observed. However, the PSS/CTA+ complexes show different conformations by appearing in the morphology of circular patches. Experimental data are in fair agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献
