Many enzymes in nature utilize molecular oxygen on an iron center for the catalysis of substrate hydroxylation. In recent years, great progress has been made in understanding the function and properties of iron(IV)-oxo complexes; however, little is known about the reactivity of iron(II)-superoxo intermediates in substrate activation. It has been proposed recently that iron(II)-superoxo intermediates take part as hydrogen abstraction species in the catalytic cycles of nonheme iron enzymes. To gain insight into oxygen atom transfer reactions by the nonheme iron(II)-superoxo species, we performed a density functional theory study on the aliphatic and aromatic hydroxylation reactions using a biomimetic model complex. The calculations show that nonheme iron(II)-superoxo complexes can be considered as effective oxidants in hydrogen atom abstraction reactions, for which we find a low barrier of 14.7 kcal mol(-1) on the sextet spin state surface. On the other hand, electrophilic reactions, such as aromatic hydroxylation, encounter much higher (>20 kcal mol(-1)) barrier heights and therefore are unlikely to proceed. A thermodynamic analysis puts our barrier heights into a larger context of previous studies using nonheme iron(IV)-oxo oxidants and predicts the activity of enzymatic iron(II)-superoxo intermediates. 相似文献

Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction of a series of ten crystalline silver(I)–trifluoroacetate complexes that contained designed ligands, each of which was composed of an aromatic system that was functionalized with terminal and internal ethynyl groups and a vinyl substituent, provided detailed information on the influence of ligand disposition and orientation, coordination preferences, and the co‐existence of different types of silver(I)–carbon bonding interactions (silver–ethynide, silver–ethynyl, silver–ethenyl, and silver–aromatic) on the construction of coordination networks that were consolidated by argentophilic and weak inter/intramolecular interactions. The complex Ag L10? 6 AgCF3CO2 ? H2O ? A new polyoxygenated ergostane-type sterol, 3β,5α,6β,8β,14α-pentahydroxy-(22E,24R)-ergost-22-en-7-one (1), has been isolated from the liquid culture of the basidiomycete Ganoderma applanatum together with four known sterols, 3β,5α,9α-trihydroxy-(22E,24R)-ergosta-7,22-dien-6-one (2), ergosterol peroxide (3), 6-dehydrocerevisterol (4) and cerevisterol (5). Two of these sterols (2, 4) are reported to have been isolated from this species for the first time. The structures of these compounds were determined by chemical and spectroscopic analyses, including 1D- and 2D-NMR, as well as by comparison of their spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature. 相似文献

The use of ternary complexes in the determination of anionic surfactants has been investigated and an analytical method using linear alkyl sulfonates as a test substance has been developed. The method involves the formation of the chloroform-extractable bisphenanthroline Cu(II)-linear alkyl sulfonate (LAS) complex and the subsequent equilibration of the extract with erythrosine to form the extractable bisphenanthroline Cu(II)-erythrosine complex. In the equilibration step erythrosine displaces LAS quantitatively, allowing the determination of the LAS originally present by measuring the absorbance of the extracted bisphenanthroline-Cu(II)-erythrosine complex. The structure of the gaseous hafnium tetrakis(tetrahydroborate) molecule, Hf(BH4)4, has been investigated by detailed quantum mechanical calculations and by analysis of its gas electron-diffraction (GED) pattern. The ground-state geometry possesses T symmetry with all of the triply-bridged BH4 groups twisted equally about the Hf...B-H axes. Salient structural parameters (ra distances, r angles) deduced from the GED pattern by the SARACEN method were: r(Hf...B) 231.4(2), r(Hf-Hb) 221.5(7), r(B-Hb) 127.6(5), r(B-Ht) 121(1) pm, Hf...B-Hb 69.4(3), Hb-B-Hb 108.4(4), Hb-B-Ht 110.6(3), B...Hf...B-Hb 166(1) degrees. A notable feature is the large magnitude of the Hf...B and Hf-Hb anharmonicity parameters, attributed to the fluxional hydrogen atom exchange process. A detailed comparison of tartaric acid (HOOC-CHOH-CHOH-COOH) and succinic acid (HOOC-CH(2)-CH(2)-COOH) molecules on a Cu(110) surface is presented with a view to elucidate how the two-dimensional chirality exhibited by such robust, chemisorbed systems is affected when both OH groups of the former molecule are replaced with H groups, a stereochemical change that leaves the metal-bonding functionalities of the molecule untouched but destroys both chiral centers. It is found that this change does not significantly affect the thermodynamically preferred chemical forms that are adopted, namely the doubly deprotonated bicarboxylate at low coverages (theta = (1)/(6) ML) and the singly deprotonated monocarboxylate at higher coverage. However, the kinetics of phase formation are significantly affected so that the conditions required for self-assembling pertinent two-dimensional chiral phases alter substantially. For both molecules, two-dimensional assembly is found to depend strongly on the nature of the local adsorption motif created, with each motif essentially acting as a "synthon" for the supramolecular assembly. In this respect, it seems that molecule-metal bonding interactions define the general self-assembly structure. The presence/absence of the OH groups, instead, cause a subtler, second-order effect on the finer details of the self-assembled structure. Finally, the creation of chirality in the achiral succinate system is shown to arise from adsorption-induced asymmetrization, inducing point chirality via molecular distortion and/or metal reconstruction of the local adsorption unit. This chiral adsorption unit is then responsible for creating chiral supramolecular through-space and through-metal interactions that propagate a chiral organization. However, the achirality of the succinate ensures that nucleation points of either chirality are equally created, producing a racemic conglomerate of coexisting mirror domains. It is in this aspect that the uniquely aligned OH groups of the rigid bitartrate system wield the greatest effect, by favoring one distortion/reconstruction for the (R,R)-bitartrate and its mirror image distortion/reconstruction for the (S,S)-enantiomer, creating surfaces that are globally chiral on the macroscopic scale. So overall, the OH groups do not dictate the general nature of the assembly but are critical as chiral propagators, breaking the degeneracy and thus promoting asymmetry to chirality. 相似文献

Mesoporous silica materials with pore structures such as 2D hexagonal close packed, bicontinuous cubic, lamellar, sponge, wormhole-like, and rectangular have been made by using surfactant templating sol-gel processes. However, there are still some "intermediate" phases, in particular mesh phases, that are formed by surfactants but which have not been made into analogous silica pore structures. Here, we describe the one-step synthesis of mesoporous silica with a mesh phase pore structure. The cationic fluorinated surfactant 1,1,2,2-tetrahydroperfluorodecylpyridinium chloride (HFDePC) is used as the template. Like many fluorinated surfactants, HFDePC forms intermediate phases in water (including a mesh phase) over a wider range of compositions than do hydrocarbon surfactants. The materials produced by this technique are novel elongated particles in which the layers of the mesh phase are oriented orthogonal to the main axis of the particles. 相似文献

H-bonding motifs for pyrazoles and oximes have been examined in the Cambridge Structural Database. The accessible surface of the N atoms has been found to be useful as a discriminator to divide structures into dimer and catemer motifs for both pyrazoles and oximes. Low accessibility favors dimers and tetramers and high values favor catemers and trimers. Total molecular volume shows some correlation for oximes, while high values favor dimers. Empirical rules were successfully applied to predict the motifs of eight new structures in the subsequent release of the CSD. 相似文献

Amino acids have been widely used as green corrosion inhibitors for an array of metals. Considering its importance in corrosion chemistry, studies were undertaken with the objective to discovering the inhibitory effect of a sulfur-containing amino acid, l-cysteine, on copper in different concentrations of sulfuric acid (0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 M) at different temperatures. Techniques like the weight loss method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization (Tafel), and adsorption studies were employed. Results revealed that l-cysteine do offer an attractive inhibition efficiency. However, with an increase in the concentration of the inhibitor, corrosion rates decreased irrespective of the temperature gradients. This is due to surface adsorption of the inhibitor molecules on the metal which has contributed to a decreased double-layer capacitance and increased polarization resistance. With the increase in the concentration of the medium, the corrosion rate was also enhanced and this is due the liberation of a high quantum of H+ ions. Based on the results of Tafel polarization studies, it is evident that the amino acid, l-cysteine, could act as a mixed type inhibitor. The importance of l-cysteine in the corrosion of copper metal has been highlighted in this paper. 相似文献
