The spectra of chi(2) spatial solitons are measured close to the soliton-formation threshold and show the presence of sidebands, shifted by 39 THz from the laser line. By comparing with the predictions of a quantum optical field model, solved numerically in the full (3 + 1)-dimensional space, it is claimed that the observed temporal instability of the spatial soliton is seeded by vacuum state fluctuations of the electromagnetic field.  相似文献

NO reduction on the noble metal Ag has been studied using density functional theory calculations. It was found that monomeric NO dissociation is subject to prohibitive barriers on Ag metal and is thus unlikely to account for the experimental observations for NO reduction over Ag-based catalysts. For the first time, a mechanism via an inverted (NO)(2) dimer is identified, which can explain both the high activity and the selectivity of this catalytic system. N(2)O is the major reduction product of the inverted (NO)(2) dimer, in accord with experiment. The physical origin of the Ag metallic state as a good catalyst is furthermore identified: Ag surfaces, including small clusters, have little or no covalent bonding ability but can bond ionically with adsorbates. We conclude that the variation of the ionic bonding strength of Ag toward different reactants determines its catalytic selectivity.  相似文献

During the last six years several incidents have occurred with dioxins in feed, stressing the need for rapid screening methods for these compounds. The most recent incident was the contamination of bakery waste used for animal feed due to the use of waste wood for drying of the material. In addition to Germany, the material was also shipped to the Netherlands. Levels up to 12 ng TEQ/kg have been detected, being about 15 times over the current limit of 0.75 ng TEQ/kg. In the Netherlands a combined strategy of screening with the CALUX-bioassay and the HRGC/HRMS confirmatory method was used to rapidly control the incident. Pigs were contaminated by the incident but only to a very limited extent. Despite the rather low limits for pig meat, the CALUX bioassay showed excellent performance, once again confirming the value of this assay.  相似文献

Using capillary electrophoresis (CE) for serum protein electrophoresis, the quality of results begins with monitoring a well-functioning instrument, using scrupulously clean capillaries, well-calibrated methods as well as regular use of an internal quality control material. Quality assurance programs are available in countries such as Australia, United Kingdom, United States, and European countries such as Sweden and Germany. The present commercial control material that is available gives percentages of albumin, alpha 1, alpha 2, beta- and gamma-globulins, the gamma-component being of normal distribution, and not containing any monoclonal protein component. We feel that a quantitative commercial control material containing a monoclonal protein at decision level for treating myeloma patients would be beneficial to all laboratories as a serum protein electrophoresis control, whether the analysis is by CE or agarose gels. The same applies for control material for urinary protein electrophoresis.  相似文献

The recent Glasser-Jenkins method for lattice-energy prediction, applied to an examination of the solid-state thermodynamics of the cation exchanges that occur in electrochromic reactions of Prussian Blue, provides incisive thermodynamic clarification of an ill-understood ion exchange that accompanies particularly the early electrochromic cycles. A volume of 0.246 +/- 0.017 nm(3) formula unit(-1) for the ferrocyanide ion, Fe(II)[(CN)(6)],(4-) is first established and then used, together with other formula unit-volume data, to evaluate the changes of standard enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs energy in those ion-exchange reactions. The results impressively show by how much the exchange of interstitial Fe(3+) ions by alkali metal ions, usually exemplified by K+, is thermodynamically favored.  相似文献

A quantum electrodynamical calculation is presented that focuses individually on the two quantum pathways or time orderings for resonance energy transfer. Conventional mathematical procedures necessitate summing the quantum pathway amplitudes at an early stage in the calculations. Here it is shown, by the adoption of a different strategy that allows deferral of the amplitude summation, that it is possible to elicit key information regarding the relative significance of the two pathways and their distinct distance dependences. A special function integration method delivers equations that also afford new insights into the behavior of virtual photons. It is explicitly demonstrated that both time-ordered pathways are effective at short distances, while in the far field the dissipation of virtual traits favors one pathway. Hitherto unknown features are exhibited in the oblique asymptotic behavior of the time-ordered contributions and their quantum interference. Consistency with the rate equations of resonance energy transfer is demonstrated and results are presented graphically.  相似文献

Recently, unusual giant magnetic properties were found experimentally in some organized organic monolayers adsorbed on solid substrates. A model is presented which explains the observed phenomenon. The model is based on the special properties of electrons transferred from the substrate to the layer as a result of the adsorption process. Triplet pairing of those electrons is forced by the special 2D properties of the organic layer. Such pairs are confined within domains in the organic layer and their quantum statistics provide a model that explains the unique magnetization as well as all other features of the experimental observations. The model suggests the possible existence of Bose-Einstein condensation at room temperature on the scale of the domains.  相似文献

Evidence is presented for multiphonon excitations based on a high-spin (25 Planck) intrinsic state in the deformed nucleus 182 Os. Angular momentum generation by this mode competes with collective rotation. The experimental data are compared with tilted-axis cranking calculations, supporting the vibrational interpretation. However, the lower experimental energies provide evidence that more complex interactions of states are playing a role.  相似文献

meso-Tetraaryl-2,3-dihydroxychlorins (1) were converted in one step to the novel free base macrocycles meso-tetraaryl-2,3-dialkoxy-2a-oxa-2a-homoporphyrins (morpholinochlorins, 3). Their bathochromically shifted chlorin-type UV-vis spectra indicate the presence of a nonplanar chromophore. The structure of meso-tetratolyldiethoxymorpholinochlorin (3b), as determined by X-ray crystallography, was found to be largely planar, suggesting significant conformational flexibility of these macrocycles.
