Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) are characterized by delay and intermittent connectivity. Satisfactory network functioning in a DTN relies heavily on co-ordination among participating nodes. However, in practice, such co-ordination cannot be taken for granted due to possible misbehaviour by relay nodes. Routing in a DTN is, therefore, vulnerable to various attacks, which adversely affect network performance. Several strategies have been proposed in the literature to alleviate such vulnerabilities—they vary widely in terms of throughput, detection time, overhead etc. One key challenge is to arrive at a tradeoff between detection time and overhead. We observe that the existing table-based reactive strategies to combat Denial-of-service (DoS) attacks in DTN suffer from two major drawbacks: high overhead and slow detection. In this paper, we propose three secure, light-weight and time-efficient routing algorithms for detecting DoS attacks (Blackhole and Grey-hole attacks) in the Spray & Focus routing protocol. The proposed algorithms are based on use of a small fraction of privileged (trusted) nodes. The first strategy, called TN, outperforms the existing table-based strategy with 20–30 % lesser detection time, 20–25 % higher malicious node detection and negligible overhead. The other two strategies, CTN_MI and CTN_RF explore the novel idea that trusted nodes are able to utilize each others’ information/experience using their long range connectivity as and when available. Simulations performed using an enhanced ONE simulator reveals that investing in enabling connectivity among trusted nodes (as in CTN_RF) can have significant performance benefits.  相似文献

“Recently, various paradigms, for instance, device-to-device communications, LTE-unlicensed and cognitive radio based on an opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) are being envisioned to improve the average spectrum utilization. In OSA, secondary (unlicensed) users (SUs) need decision making policies (DMPs) to identify and transmit over optimum frequency bands without any interference to the primary (licensed) users as well as minimize the number of collisions among SUs. In this paper, we have proposed a two-stage DMP consisting of Bayesian Multi-armed Bandit algorithm to accurately characterize the frequency band statistics independently at each SU and frequency band selection scheme for orthogonalization of SUs. The analytical and simulation results show that the proposed DMP leads to 45% improvement in the average spectrum utilization compared to 36–39% in the existing DMPs. Furthermore, the number of collisions are 58.5% lower in the proposed DMP making SU terminals energy-efficient. The performance of the proposed DMP has been verified on the proposed USRP testbed in real radio environment and the experimental results closely match the simulated results .”  相似文献

Three‐dimensional structures that undergo reversible shape changes in response to mild stimuli enable a wide range of smart devices, such as soft robots or implantable medical devices. Herein, a dual thiol‐ene reaction scheme is used to synthesize a class of liquid crystal (LC) elastomers that can be 3D printed into complex shapes and subsequently undergo controlled shape change. Through controlling the phase transition temperature of polymerizable LC inks, morphing 3D structures with tunable actuation temperature (28 ± 2 to 105 ± 1 °C) are fabricated. Finally, multiple LC inks are 3D printed into single structures to allow for the production of untethered, thermo‐responsive structures that sequentially and reversibly undergo multiple shape changes.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel optically addressed microactuator array (microfluidic "flash memory") with latched operation. Analogous to the address-data bus mediated memory address protocol in electronics, the microactuator array consists of individual phase-change based actuators addressed by localized heating through focused light patterns (address bus), which can be provided by a modified projector or high power laser pointer. A common pressure manifold (data bus) for the entire array is used to generate large deflections of the phase change actuators in the molten phase. The use of phase change material as the working media enables latched operation of the actuator array. After the initial light "writing" during which the phase is temporarily changed to molten, the actuated status is self-maintained by the solid phase of the actuator without power and pressure inputs. The microfluidic flash memory can be re-configured by a new light illumination pattern and common pressure signal. The proposed approach can achieve actuation of arbitrary units in a large-scale array without the need for complex external equipment such as solenoid valves and electrical modules, which leads to significantly simplified system implementation and compact system size. The proposed work therefore provides a flexible, energy-efficient, and low cost multiplexing solution for microfluidic applications based on physical displacements. As an example, the use of the latched microactuator array as "normally closed" or "normally open" microvalves is demonstrated. The phase-change wax is fully encapsulated and thus immune from contamination issues in fluidic environments.  相似文献

Ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopic studies have been performed on (C 5Me 5) 2U[- N=C(Ph)(CH 2Ph)] 2 and (C 5Me 5) 2Th[- N=C(Ph)(CH 2Ph)] 2 including, for the uranium complex, the first direct measurement of dynamics of electronic deactivation within a 5f-electron manifold. Evidence has been found for strong coupling between the electronic ground state and the f-electron manifold which dominates the dynamics of the excited states of the bis(ketimide) uranium complex. These also demonstrate strong singlet-f manifold coupling, which assists in the deactivation of the photoexcited state of the uranium complex, and provide information on intersystem crossing and internal conversion processes in both complexes.  相似文献

Implant-associated fibrotic capsule formation presents a major challenge for the development of long-term drug release microspheres and implantable sensors. Since material properties have been shown to affect in vitro cellular responses and also to influence short-term in vivo tissue responses, we have thus assumed that the type and density of surface chemical groups would affect the degree of tissue responses to microsphere implants. To test this hypothesis, polypropylene particles with different surface densities of -OH and -COOH groups, along with the polypropylene control (-CH2 groups) were utilized. The influence of functional groups and their surface densities on fibrotic reactions were analyzed using a mice subcutaneous implantation model. Our comparative studies included determination and correlation of the extents of fibrotic capsule formation, cell infiltration into the particles, and recruitment of CD11b+ inflammatory cells for all of the substrates employed. We have observed major differences among microspheres coated with different surface functionalities. Surfaces with -OH surface groups trigger the strongest responses, while -COOH-rich surfaces prompt the least tissue reactions. However, variation of the surface density of either functional group has a relatively minor influence on the extent of fibrotic tissue reactions. The present results show that surface functionality can be used as a powerful tool to alter implant-associated fibrotic reactions and, potentially, to improve the efficacy and function of drug-delivery microspheres, implantable sensors, and tissue-engineering scaffolds.  相似文献

Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) are functional proteins that do not fold into well-defined three-dimensional structures under physiological conditions. IDP sequences have low hydrophobicity, and hence, recent experiments have focused on quantitative studies of conformational ensembles of archetypal IDP sequences such as polyglutamine and glycine-serine block copolypeptides. Results from these experiments show that, despite the absence of hydrophobic residues, polar IDPs prefer ensembles of collapsed structures in aqueous milieus. Do these preferences originate in interactions that are unique to polar sidechains? The current study addresses this issue by analyzing conformational equilibria for polyglycine and a glycine-serine block copolypeptide in two environments, namely, water and 8 M urea. Polyglycine, a poly secondary-amide, has no sidechains and is a useful model system for generic polypeptide backbones. Results based on large-scale molecular dynamics simulations show that polyglycine forms compact, albeit disordered, globules in water and swollen, disordered coils in 8 M urea. There is minimal overlap between conformational ensembles in the two environments. Analysis of order parameters derived from theories for flexible polymers show that water at ambient temperatures is a poor solvent for generic polypeptide backbones. Therefore, the experimentally observed preferences for polyglutamine and glycine-serine block copolypeptides must originate, at least partially, in polypeptide backbones. A preliminary analysis of the driving forces that lead to distinct conformational preferences for polyglycine in two different environments is presented. Implications for describing conformational ensembles of generic IDP sequences are also discussed.  相似文献
