Measure-Preserving Transformations, Copulæ and Compatibility

We study the relationship between copulas and measure-preserving transformations on the Borel sets of the unit interval. This also allows to investigate the connection with a restricted compatibility problem for copulas. To this end, in order to construct a 3-copula from two given 2-copulas A and B, we modify the *-operation introduced in Darsow et al., show that A * B is always compatible with A and B, and study the set of all copulas compatible with A and B.      

Conjunctors and their Residual Implicators: Characterizations and Construction Methods

In many practical applications of fuzzy logic it seems clear that one needs more flexibility in the choice of the conjunction: in particular, the associativity and the commutativity of a conjunction may be removed. Motivated by these considerations, we present several classes of conjunctors, i.e. binary operations on [0, 1] that are used to extend the boolean conjunction from {0, 1} to [0, 1], and characterize their respective residual implicators. We establish hence a one-to-one correspondence between construction methods for conjunctors and construction methods for residual implicators. Moreover, we introduce some construction methods directly in the class of residual implicators, and, by using a deresiduation procedure, we obtain new conjunctors. Capillary zone electrophoresis of rigid submicron-sized particles in polyacrylamide. Solution selectivity, peak spreading and resolution.

Submicron-sized rigid particles can be separated in a size-dependent fashion by electrophoresis in free solution. Yet it has remained unknown whether the presence of polymers in the solution confers an advantage in size-dependent separation of submicron particles and their resolution. The present study addresses that question, using capillary zone electrophoresis of carboxylate modified polystyrene latex microspheres of 55, 140 and 215 nm radius in solutions of linear polyacrylamide in the M(r) range of 0.4.10(6) to 1.14.10(6). Selectivity of particle separation increases in direct relation to the polymer concentration in the concentration range of 0 to 1% (w/v). Selectivity was found to increase with M(r) of the polymer for the particle sets of 55/140 (nm/nm) and 140/215 (nm/nm) but to decrease with polymer M(r) for the 55/215 (nm/nm) set. Peak spreading is a complex and, in the case of the largest particle, non-monotonic function of polymer concentration, with a minimum at concentrations around the entanglement threshold, c*. Consequently, resolution of the 55/215 and 140/215 (nm/nm) sets also exhibits a maximum around the entanglement threshold while resolution for the 55/140 (nm/nm) set increases with a rise of polymer concentrations above c*. Within the range of optimally resolving polymer concentrations there also occurs a maximum of resolution for all particle sets at a field strength in the range of 150 to 250 V cm-1.     

Novel Potentiometric Sensor for Determination of Cysteine Based on Substituted Poly(diphenylporphyrins and Metalloporphyrins

This paper describes the application of an electropolymerized film of poly(bis(2-aminophenyl)-2,8,12,18-tetraethyl-3,7,13, 17-tetramethylporphyrin) and its metalloderivative for determination of amino acids. A remarkable selectivity for cysteine (log K _{Cys/Amino acids} ^pot = 10^–2–10^–3) has been found. The potentiometric response to sulfur-containing amino acids is discussed and compared with selectivity data for PVC-membranes based on metallotetraphenylporphyrins.     

Estimation of the Parameters Describing the Changes of Conversion Degree Under Polyisothermal Conditions

The possibility of estimation of a slope of the independent variable 1/T, for the observed conversion degree in the form of a [time*temperature] matrix, has been analyzed. It has been shown that for such a case the covariance of time and temperature does not amount of zero; the procedure of estimation of the slope can be simplified by making one of the variables (time) latent. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Pseudoadditive states on a logic

We propose an extension of the notion of a state on a logic to a pseudoadditive state on a logic replacing the ordinary addition by a pseudoaddition. As a special class we underline the possibility states based on the operation of supremum. For a Boolean algebraB and a logicL, we study the extension of the pseudoadditive states onB andL to a pseudoadditive state on their Pták sum B+L.     

Archimax copulas and invariance under transformations

Beitrag zur systematik der β-spektren

Zusammenfassung Durch Analyse des Systems der Stabilen Kerne wurde ein qualitatives Energieschema gefunden. Dieses Schema wurde unter Zugrundelegung empirischer Werte der-Spektroskopie quantitativ untersucht und es wurden dessen Grundeigenschaften festgestellt. Ferner wurde eine Möglichkeit zur Ermittlung der Grösse des Kernspins aus den empirischen Werten der-Spektroskopie gezeigt.
